  1. Wow, great job by Washington holding Atlanta to 3 in the first half.  Atlanta had scored 75 points in the 1st half of its previous games.  Even if they'd made the FG, holding them to 6 would have been really noteworthy.  Go SKINS!

(It feels fun to root for the Skins again... I was a big Skins fan from 1987 - 1992 when I lived in the DC area... Joe Gibbs golden years...  It was fun.)

before there was a Panthers team, my family was all Redskins fans. there were a sprinkling of Colts, Cowboys, and Falcons fans. but mostly skins fans. so i dont hate them. they're just easy to make fun of.

  2. T'would appear that we have some young analytics enthusiasts on the Huddle now.

KB is the statistician. im more of a writer. i try not to tread on his territory haha.

Here's what I think the stats should be (rounded figures for yards...):

    Stat                                  CAR            JAX

    Yards per game                347             290

    Passing Yards                   219            188

    Rushing Yards                   127             102

    Points per game                 21.2            15.6

I'm not on Facebook, so I can't log on to comment at Panthers.com to tell them about the errors.

sounds about right to me KB. those are the figures i found when writing my preview. its disappointing that the Panthers website would commit such errors

  3. I'm thinking 10-6 and division champs again. The rest of the south is going to be fighting to attain mediocrity and have tough starts to the season. We have an easier start and have all our tough games at once, pretty much.

    season Q1:

I see us going 4-0, 3-1 at least.

    Season Q2:

1-3 here, though it could easily be 0-4. I also think 3-1 is attainable depending on how well we can put it together. I think we are 5-3 or 6-2 after week 9.

    season Q3:

3-1, maybe 2-2 depending on how good Washington and New Orleans are. Those will be our 2 biggest trap games aside from this weekend's season opener. We should win both games on defense alone. I want to beat Dallas in their house on Turkey Day so bad but I think it's a loss.

    season Q4:

3-1, maybe 2-2. I think we lose to either the Falcons or Giants. I don't see us losing twice to the Falcons, but it's possible we lose to both of them.

I know my prediction at the beginning of my post doesn't match the predictions quarterly. The Panthers will probably lose a game somewhere that I feel they should win. there is still potential for 12-4 methinks. But there would be a lot of outside factors at play if that happens.

Either way, I think we win the division. The other teams just aren't as talented.

  4. My wife and I are looking to move into the Carolinas within the next few years, but we'll see what happens. Where I'm at is probably 60% Eagle fans, 30% Steeler Fans, 10% Cowboys / Other.

sounds like most of PA. i think the only place there are more philly fans than pittsburgh fans is within the Philadelphia city limits. the rest of the state bleeds black and gold. 2008 was a good year though. i wore my Dad's XXL-sized Smith jersey to school like once a week on my M-sized frame haha. it was a dress but i was a proud fan in foreign territory. i loved it. got a lot of compliments that year for my bold support of the team. as a socially inept sophomore, i relished that. haha.

good luck on the move to Carolina. both states are beautiful, but if you dont like heat, move to the mountains or right on the beach. haha.

  5. I live around Scranton / Wilkes-Barre. I try to take a trip to Penn State once or twice a year though. I went to one of the Satellite campuses (Wilkes-Barre).

Dad went to school down in Asheville, NC. went to USC Columbia as well. I go to a private Christian school in the Upstate of SC. but i went to State College High School and have plenty of experience with PSU football. there's a tender place in my heart for the Nittany Lions. i grew up from age 9 hearing all about them. Luckily, Dad was able to save me from being a Steelers fan, or worse... and Eagles fan *shudders*
