If Miller had Tatum’s athleticism (Miller is still a good athlete) and elite ability to create of the dribble and get to the rim then Miller would be the pick no questions asked.

I think if you draft Miller then you just work on his iso game and add some weight to his frame so he can finish better at the rim.

All other aspects of his game are NBA ready.

As for Scoot, I don’t hate him and I think he’ll be a fine NBA player but elite wings run the NBA. LeBron, Jimmy Buckets, Tatum, those are the guys that are leading their team’s in the playoffs. It’s just extremely difficult for a guard to impact every facet of the game like a 6-9 wing can.

    This^^

it’s not even a mystery anymore.. You either have a dominant wing player or you’re not winning consistently..

Yeah you right, its low value and wont help. Shai Gilchrist Alexander, Devin booker, Colin Sexton, De aron Fox, Kemba Walker, Jimmy Butler all struggle with it and can score with the best of them. These guys are short and taller players and clearly cant get their shot off over longer wing players. Jesus....You are not even worth the time to debate this and probably barely even watches the nba.

I’m glad you put Colin Sexton on your list because that’s a apt comparison..  (Shai, Booker and Butler are all bigger players (big difference) And Fox and Kemba only got rated higher when they hit the 3 consistently) So those examples don’t fit..

Now back to Sexton .. If roster construction don’t mean poo.. Why didn’t the Sexton, Garland back court work?? If having super athletic Combo guards (who can’t shoot 3’s consistently)are so effective why didn’t Cleveland keep Sexton with Garland??

  3. The only way Scoot and Lamelo works is

1.Lamelo becomes the 2.. You take the ball out of his hands and he becomes Reggie Miller or Klay constantly running around picks…

Problem with this is Lamelo not a good defender and will become more like Jj Redick or Kyle Kover .. Plus he is pretty much 1 of the best passers in the league so giving that up is dumb…

    2. Scoot becomes a better version of CJ Mcclcomm (a knock down shooter scorer) who also is a elite defender and can guard players like Jaylen Brown, James Harden, Jason Tatum, pretty much the best 2,3 wing players in the league..

Problem is he isn’t a good defender now.. Plus he’s short to be SG and pretty much puts us in the same position we’re in with Terry Rozier starting (with a worst shot of course)..,

Its not one game...wtf?? Just say you dont know much about Scoot at all. Jesus christ.

I know about scoot then you and all you are showing is mid range jumpers which in the nba “of today” is a low value shot..

Mid range players don’t create space and at 6’2 getting your midrange jumper off is a lot harder with bigger longer wing players guarding you like Miller..

Just say you don’t know basketball!!!

So you think shooting is all about 3s? The dude has a solid mid range game and knows how to create the shot off dribble with great form. You know who else stats says they werent good at shooting 3s before draft?......LAMELO BALL.

I don’t care about him being a smaller Demar Derozen if he can’t consistently knock down the 3 at 6’2 it’s a waste when we already have a all star pg..

Now throw in the fact that Miller can play and guard multiple positions and our only star plays a very similar role to Scoot, Miller seems like the right choice.

Why this is even a debate after literally The NBA is a 2 way wing league is crazy..

If I'm the GM of Hornets, I'm not passing up on the freak explosive guard for a Michael Porter Jr.

Scoot still has 6'9" Wingspan for all you height and reach lovers.

When have the freak explosive guard won a championship or a consistent Winning team??

Because Klay and Steph can both shoot lights out?

Exactly they play different roles.. They aren’t fighting to handle the ball or run the offense.. You have a primary ball handler and a shooter..

With Scoot ppl have to form new roles.. Instead of with Miller he has a defined role we day 1 that fits with the rest of the roster..

It’s really not like the Bryce thing at all. Young was the best player at the highest position of need for us. We didn’t care about Will Anderson or Carter who might have been better overall prospects because we needed a QB. We traded up and traded based on the team’s top need.

Exactly Miller is the equally talented player at a position of need and has more positional value..

And Durant played better.  It’s not like Scoot played bad.  Also when Oden was coming out, the league was chasing the next big man.  The next shaq, thus the reason those guys catapulted up to the top.   Hence check out Hasheem Thabeet around that time.

He didn’t but reality is Team fit, Potential, and potential value is in Millers favor.. Not to mention defensively he is the better more versatile defender..
So not only do is he the better scorer between the 2 he is the better defender..

    What am I missing here..

Scoot was always regarded as the better player and still is the better player despite Miller’s good college season up until the tournament.

Not a knock on him.  But Scoot was always regarded as a can’t miss type prospect who just was unfortunate to be stuck in the same draft as the most hyped prospect in generations

Greg Oden was considered the same way but reality was the Kid from Texas name Kevin Durant was the better player..

It's not ideal I'm just thinking about how he could share the court with Ball.

Better than Terry is a stretch I'll give you that, but everyone had the same concerns about LaMelo and Scoots a better shooter than he was coming in.

Again it’s not a fit to have 2 ball dominanting guards on the court at the same time.. Add in the fact neither is a great defender.. It don’t fit..

Right now im leaning Scoot but i know im gonna start going back and forth on this up till the draft. Smh this bryce and stroud all over again. The difference is i feel the more tape i watch on miller the more i will like him.

    It really isn’t that close..

Wemby could end up an all-time great but he would have been an awkward fit. From a roster building standpoint I'm not upset.

Y'all saying trade LaMelo gotta be trolling or have lost your damn minds. I think everyone's getting carried away locking Scoot in as a PG. He's only had two years of the NBA 3 point line but his midrange is nice, he just needs time. He hasn't been jacking up Steph Curry shots from halfcourt since childhood like LaMelo. He's a better shooter than Terry was he transitioned to the 2.

Even if this was true (which it isn’t) what is the fascination with short sg???
    reality check Terry shouldn’t start..

The flashy guys fool them every time. Those guys like Morant/Drose/Westbrook sell tickets but they don't win in the playoffs. You have to be able to shoot in playoff games.

Im suprised people haven't figured out how important shooting is in today's league. The Warriors built a dynasty off having multiple shooters on the court.

How ppl don’t notice that the teams with shooters and a dominant wing player are still winning is crazy..

Miami vs NY  NY had the best pg Miami had the best wing players..

    Who is still playing???

The Celtics are literally on TV all the time…

And I’m a Duke fan and I promise you Miller was a better prospect then Tatum was and the better player in college..

So you watched the NCAA Tournament games and you didn't know he was dealing with a groin injury?

He was the best player all year. Then he injured his groin when the tourny started. That's why his stats dipped.

CP3 missed playoff games for a groin injury. At least Miller actually played injured. He has that DAWG IN HIM!

The fact we’re talking about 2 games compare to a whole season.. Where 1 players took a team from top 20 to number 1 ranked team in the nation and a number 1 seed in the tourney is funny..

@WOW!! really knows his basketball. He gets it. This is a shooters league.

    This is crazy..

ppl can literally look at the playoffs and see the teams with dominant wing players are winning.. Jason Tatum,  Jimmy Butler, Lebron , KD, for years win more then short explosive PG who can’t shoot..

    DRose/Westbrook/Morant all ringless.

You want to sell tickets draft Scoot. If you want to build an actual team draft the 6'9 wing who can create off the dribble and shoot from deep.

Melo/Miller/Williams is a core you can build around. They fit together!

    This^^

Are we trying to build a team or force mismatch parts together which will probably end up trading a good player because it doesn’t work..
