BUT the Saints might actually have an elite defense.

Elite defenses make offenses look even worse than they are

need more time to see what Byrce can do

I didn't see anything with the Saints to write home about.

They got old man Cameron Jordan they don't have an elite pass rush. They are really good on the 2nd and 3rd level with linebackers and secondary.

What you saw was Dennis Allen do a masterful job of confusing our rookie Qb, showing man to man fronts but really zone defense.

They are good but they played two bad offenses so far.

I don't really care about the lining up behind the RG moment in the grand scheme of things with all that's going on. But people really should have pumped the brakes on all the hype about how unique he was in his preparation and knowledge of the game like he had the brain of a veteran Peyton Manning heading into the season. The hype was created by some of the very people trying to move the goal posts and now sell this story about how he's an overmatched rookie. Also the same people basically told us CJ Stroud had a brick for a brain. This is what some of us were trying to tell you back before and immediately following the draft about what would happen if we select him and the uphill climb he faced even with his so called "elite" processing ability. Now everything has changed. Go figure.

When I heard that CJ Stroud quote about him bring a football player and not a test taker.

I said uh oh Panthers might be making a mistake, this kid got some dawg in him.

If GPA and IQ won football games Harvard and Yale would dominate Ohio State and Alabama.

Attempting to throw deep on third down and possibly getting intercepted isn’t a bad play. The net result is basically the same as punting but at least the deep pass has to chance to result in something positive for the offense. Bryce has barely even attempted to throw up a prayer in the first two games. Why? I have no idea.

Alot of it has to do with Reich's playcalling, he kept trying to play in front of the sticks, I guess he doesnt fully trust Young.

The announcers kept mentioning now would be a time to take a shot, and he kept calling safe screen passes and runs up the middle that netted no yards. So the end result we were behind the sticks anyway.

They need to just turn him loose and encourage him to be more aggressive rather than “protect the football”.  He will never develop as a QB playing scared of turnovers. Last night felt like an overreaction to the 2 INTs last week in a game where Bryce was very decisive in the first half. Last night he was more hesitant at times and did not really challenge the secondary.  I think that Reich implied in the press conference that there were opportunities that we didn’t tale advantage of.

Bryce needs to prove he can make the deep throws outside the lines, regardless of turnovers. Peyton Manning broke the record for a rookie with interceptions but he was very aggressive downfield with 11.46 yards per completion and 26 TDs.

We need to see that Bryce can make all the throws, the “processing” can wait. This team isn’t competing for division this year, they should focus on his development as a franchise QB.  No more dink and dunk BS

I agree if you going to go down, go down swinging like the Colts did with Manning.

    Like we did with Newton.

This timidness is what produces Sam Donald's of the NFL not perennial probowlers

I personally think Shaq is a bit overpaid and overrated.  Not strong in coverage and he gets lost at times.  Some love him, I get that, but I have not visibly seen anything close to Beason, Morgan, Mills, or Luke-

He's been better are on par with Beason who was highly overrated by this fan base.

You just need a good lecture about reasonable expectations. You see, being a Panthers fan is about not expecting to win or even to look competent. You just gotta be happy to be.

    It's bogus.

We finished with a better record than Saints and Falcons last season. The division came down to us and Tampa.

We leap frogged the Falcons and Saints to get the #1 overall draft pick, players of that caliper are meant to be franchise changing Cam Newton, Julius Peppers good.

Not saying Byrce can't become that but how did we become worse and in rebuilding mode, but the Saints and Falcons with less draft capital seemingly got better in one off-season.

I don't want to hear anything about coaching continuity should have kept Wilks then.

I'd assume luvu.  I'm a little bit intrigued to see if Chinn could take over that spot. He's probably too small but he does nothing in his current role

Hill was making plays all over the field, once he came in, just like he was doing in preseason.

Even sacked Carr on a crucial 3rd and 2 play.

It's not even that he's just small, he doesn't even have the athleticism to make up for it. He not only got sacked by a shoulder brush, but got ran down by like he was a child a couple of times.

There should be SOMETHING tangible to point to when you draft a guy 1 overall. I don't doubt he's going to play better moving forward, but giving up so much for such a low ceiling is ridiculous.

This is what's concerning to me, he's going to have to be the reincarnate of Drew Brees for this to work.

Kyle Murray is small but you better not let him hit that corner or he's gone.

He's going to need to be able to dictate to defenses presnap to make up for his physical limitations and right now the defenses are dictating to him.

Our pass D and pass rush looks good, surprisingly. Burned a few times over the top, but given the CB injuries and our offense going 3 and out like 6 out of 8 drives or whatever, bound to happen.

The run D looks as suspect as ever. We don't have a true NT and the OLBs are light/not good run defenders, so maybe should've expected that. But through 2 weeks, the run D ranks 29th in EPA/play.

We've faced Atlanta who had the #3 rushing attack last season and have gotten even better.

Bijan ran for a 170 plus yards against Green Bay alone.

Tyson Hill I don't care what anyone says is Cam-lite in those short yardage situations with his ability to pass and size when he gets moving.

If we could sustain some drives and not allow teams to just pound on us for 4th quarters and actually put pressure on them to score some points, our defense and pash rush would look even better.

decline rams-burns trade and then trade away our best WR since Steve smith because "receivers are easier to replace than premier pass rushers"

to now, unable to resign Burns and having a bunch of slow bums at WR

DJ wasn't elite but he was very solid especially in the short and intermediate game along with his YAC. Which is perfect for QB play style like Bryce's and the "offense" we seen the past two games. not only that, he was on a reasonable contract

I'm afraid the Panthers front office has the same football acumen as some of the posters.

Rhule sure did, getting rid of Bridgewater after the one season, the only reason were even competitive that season and he and his offensive guru Brady were being crowed about.

To becoming a laughing stock onward.

If we get rid of Burns now after saying no to the Rams trade and sending Moore to Chicago just turn the GM position over to AI see what it can do.

Sanders didn't need more touches.  Hubbard did.  He didn't get a rush until the 4th quarter.   And he drastically out played Sanders week 1.

Yea I didn't understand the lack of Hubbard this week.

He was in mostly on 3rd downs and obviously passing plays, the great receiver that he is.

Exciting to see if Cohen is back. Definitely will be an adding boost to this offense.

None of us really know what goes on behind the scenes, but at times our FO amazes me.

Last season Donta Foreman played extremely well. He almost reached a 1,000 yards despite not even starting a game after a quarter of the season was completed. Chubba Hubbard was a good compliment to him. They combined for nearly 1,400 yards on the ground and averaged over 4.5 yds per carry. They let Foreman go in the offseason. Our running game was fine last season. Now Donta in Chicago on a one year deal for $2million. We signed Miles Sanders to a 4year/$25.4 mil deal (over $6mil per year). That's not bad for a running back with Sanders skill set and 2022 production. But, we really didn't need him. We could have used that money elsewhere...like the WR position or on the defense.

Our backs  clearly showed that they were well suited for our O-line. We didn't lose any starters to other teams. We kept our o-line coach. Last years running game would be a benefit to Bryce. It limits the number of times he has to drop back, take time off of the clock to limit the other teams time of possession, and it opens up the  play-action pass.

Now, we're lacking that the above elements and it's really affecting our ability to move the ball and score points.

I agree it was pretty much a more expensive lateral move by ditching Foreman.

But the Panthers ran the ball well last week.

This week was a different story and may continue to trend that way of defense coordinators start crowding the box and daring the Panthers to beat them on the outside which we haven't shown we can do yet.

Do you think we have a guy on the roster to make that play? One of the reasons I'm down on Fitz is the WR situation.

We've taken two receivers in the 2nd round since he's been around (TMJ and Mingo). I think most of us would agree that a receiver taken in those rounds should be more than a possession receiver. They need to be difference makers.

The jury is still out out on Mingo since he is a rookie. Still, I thought we would have seen more attempts to get him the further downfield. I haven't seen anything from TMJ in our system to suggest he's anything more than a JAG who can be easily replaced.  I think Theilan and Hurst are what we expected them to be. But, we need at least one playmaker (preferably two) who can stretch the field.

    Yes I do.

But first the Qb has to make the throws.

I don't think we have the best tandems of receivers in the league, but it's not the worst either.

I'm on the record as saying I think it's more of the playcalling than it is Byrce.

150 yards passing a game so far is not cutting it, that's Sam Donald territory atleast with him we only gave up a 2nd and 4th rd pick for him

We traded a 1st rd pick and DJ Moore essentially 2 first round picks if you count where Moore was drafted and his talent level.

People clowning the Giants when our offense hasn't looked much better.

Because they will "ram it up the gut" on 1st and 2nd down, then throw out of the shotgun. You have to mix up play calls out of the same formations to keep the defense off of their mark, similar to what allowed Sam to really thrive in 2022.

You don't run out of an under center look and then go shotgun to throw every time like we saw. There is zero flow to play calling right now and it's like Reich is shooting from the hip. They need to get Bryce comfortable with running the pass game and run game from under center.

That was a safe throw though. He just had to air it out and put enough on it that only Olave and not the defender could make a play on the ball. And he almost missed it. Had Olave not made a crazy catch, that goes down in the book as an overthrow. That’s not exactly the same thing as throwing someone open with anticipation into a tight window.

Im not saying you would do this, but I guarantee if Bryce had made that attempt on a similar play and overthrew the WR by just a smidge and the WR doesn’t come down with it because we don’t have good WRs, this Board would be going ballistic that he hadn’t thrown an accurate ball.

Not really the play where we finally threw it to Chark was an overthrow but we ended up getting a pass interference call anyway.

I was happy that he finally let it loose.

Obviously it’s hyperbole on both ends. Of course there are plays where there are WRs open. But the fact of the matter is, our WRs are struggling to consistently create separation. And for the keyboard warriors like us who don’t play the game, we don’t know how much of that is to blame on their limitations, then not executing, and the play design/calling not scheming them open. It’s probably all of the above.

And on plays where you could find a WR open, on some of them, Bryce is at fault for not finding them. And on others, it’s on the offensive line for not giving Bryce the time to find them. And on others, Bryce finds the open WR but they drop the ball (e.g. Mingo on that slant last night). Its a collective team failure and I think it’s unfair to place all the blame on Bryce. Which is not the same as saying he’s blameless at all.

Sometimes you just have to throw receivers open and give them a chance to make a play.

Olave wasn't open on that play when he made that acrobatic catch, but Carr threw it up and gave him a chance.

That's what I'm looking to see.
