He was on the board longer than most thought that he would be, in fact I actually mocked to us at 65. After having to wait that long AND falling onto a team that immediately makes him a starter, that is the perfect answer.

I want at least 2 of these 4 picks to not be project players for the love of God

We've been so bad at drafting outside of the first two rounds for a very long time. Hitting on even one of these day 3 picks would a pleasant suprise.

No need to get cute about it. Just woke up to the podium first thing and pick Ja'tavian Sanders. A pass catching tight end is something we've been missing for years

Kool-Aid is a legit first round talent! He could end up being the best of them after all us said and done, but he's arguably a top 3 talent at the position in this draft class.

I doubt that he continues to drop to 39.

Those C and LB are RD 1 talent and hard to resist.......but my gut tell me they go for the CB4 or 5....

Right now there are 2 ILBs, 2 Centers and a few CBs that would be great picks. Hell, Sanders at TE is also an interesting option. ALL AREAS OF NEED. I'm giddy with anticipation!

I'm going with the consensus and guessing Center or Morgan going after a stud ILB as my guess though.

I just can't really mock other teams right now when I'm a fan of the reigning worst team in the league. Just doesn't feel right.

We have absolutely NOTHING else to mock them about. But yeah, feels kinda empty.

Didn’t he hype TMJ / Mingo?

He definitely liked Mingo, but I don't recall him being big on TMJ. I could be wrong. He WAS a big time fan of DJ Moore. He was right.

You expect 3 day 1 starters from a draft with no first round pick?

NFL hit rate after round 1 goes down hard. 3rd round picks are like 20% odds to find a starter.

I seriously doubt that we hit on all 3, I just meant that starters are commonly found at those positions. It would be nice though, wouldn't it?

Is this team 'as is' better than it was?

Also, where do we still need to improve?

Better. The only 2 players who we lost that we lost that I'm concerned over is Luvu and Bell. I think that their FA replacements are not as good. I almost included Bozeman on this list, but his pass protection last year was so bad that an often injured guard may be an improvement at center.

Still need to improve... Secondary, ILB, WR, TE (as always), edge, and obviously center.

    thanks for doing all that.

I would like for us to draft a center. either one that can start early (mainly because corbett is just an unknown commodity there and he's had some injury issues) or one that can sit behind and learn and then take over. preferably the former.

i agree taking a couple WRs and a CB are things that we have to do. Also picking up some ILB help is a bog thing to be looking at as well and there are some good options there.

and yes, TE...we need some big time help there. there's a good few available in this draft that would be an upgrade for us. jared wiley would be great but there are a few that we would really benefit from drafting.

At 33 and 39, we'd be drafting the 4th or 5th best WR or CB or the top 1-2 C, ILB, or TE. What I'd like to see is someone that will be an impactful starter day 1.

The question I had to ask: Is C depth more important than ILB or CB depth?  Realistically, you cannot expect any draft to address more than 3 needs, but I included 4.  I agree with you, however.

Be careful, I was told yesterday that our defense was solid. While signing Clowney helped that, I still agree that CB, and ILB are big needs and day 1 starters can be found at 33, 39, and 65. The same can be said for C and WR (deep draft). I would love for those 4 positions to be addressed with our first 4 picks. I have a feeling that if the right ILB is there, Morgan will have a hard time passing on him.

Brett Kollman actually broke down the reasons why it took so long, and it gives a ton of context. I too was pretty skeptical until I saw it:

    • Played a running attack style QB in HS where his athleticism had him run for 1600 yards his senior year
    • Both his parents died before college, father dying right before he leaves
    • Goes to SC and gets switched to WR where he grey shirted his freshman year
    • Covid Hits
    • SC Changes coaching staff
    • Coaching change brings in new offense where he has to learn new WR stuff on top of trying to learn the position after losing a year thanks to the pandemic
    • Played behind already established upper classmen until his most recent season

Dude could have transferred out of SC but chose to grind it out and earn his spot. Dude is mentally tough and gritty as poo. Coaches rave about his practice habits and teammates love him. Loyal guy. Athletic freak of nature

Don't know why you wouldn't want that kind of player on the team.

    Can't hate that.
