Went for the big fish. Got 1 of 2 and a tremendous consolation prize on the second (Brown). Additional benefit of getting draft picks in the future. Sounds like an absolute win-win for everybody involved.

I'm not giving up Freddie. They can take Chatfield instead.
Freddie can go. Drury stays.

We’re putting a whooping on these jabronies.

Not sure how Guentzel didn’t bury that but I’ll take it.

If you are an ESPN+ subscriber then I imagine the unavailability has to due with your location (geoblocking). Bally might be your only option.
I’ll mention that I live in FL so I use ESPN+, but when I visit NC I have to login in to the Bally app through my cable provider as the Canes games are blacked out on ESPN+ when I visit NC.
A friend of mine uses ESPN+ and he lives in NC but he also uses a VPN.
Trying to cut the cord after football season is up so I was hoping ESPN+ was the answer for the Canes. Sounds like I’ll just need a VPN assuming that’s cheaper than Bally+.

Any of y’all watch on ESPN+? Tried to watch on there but it said “This content is not available in your package or region”. I know I’ve got ESPN+ and I live in Greenville, SC. Is Bally my only option?

Kooch just keeps climbing up the statistical leaderboards.

Kochetkov is now third in GAA, tied for fourth in save %, and tied for first in shutouts.
And the two he’s tied with in shutouts have 8 and 10 more games played. That’s awesome.

Finally got to watch some last night and Koochie was awesome. Made some really great saves and was calm and collected the whole time. Definitely seemed more in control than what I saw last year which I felt was his biggest weakness.

Gotta agree with @t96 here...
To me, the fact that Kucci excels at the higher danger stuff, but not as much at the easier ones, tells me that he is still thinking too much. Once he settles into the NHL game and culture, we should see those numbers improve.
I would tend to agree. Generally it’s much easier for a guy to figure out how to stop the easier shots than to figure out how to stop the harder shots. Obviously he’s doing something right. In a lot of cases (not saying for Koochie) it’s a matter of staying focused all the time which is pretty normal for young guys to have to overcome early on.

Some advanced stats https://www.moneypuck.com/goalies.htm
In Goals Saved Above Expected per 60 (5+ games), a very legitimate measure of how well a goalie is playing taking into account the team defense in front of him, Pyotr is #2 behind only Ilya Sorokin (a Vezina favorite for best goalie in the league). I couldn't be more excited about this kid, his play is even better than his raw numbers which are solid as is. Such a stud. Small sample size so far but I think he'll keep it up and even get better as he gets more comfortable facing NHL shooters.
I’m looking at this while on a conference call so could be incorrectly interpreting, but seems like he is very good against tough shots (high danger) but not as great against easier shots (unblocked low and medium danger).
Also, as a stats and analyst guy, this tool is really awesome.

This is a good explanation from the bit I’ve seen of him so far. He’s definitely still in a transitional phase. With more reps he’ll tighten up his play even more. I feel like the coaches aren’t asking too much of him right now. More of a slow walk.
Which makes sense that they were planning on him staying in Chicago until injuries. I’m sure he will get better as he continues to get used to the American ice/gameplay and tightens up on some of his problems.

His save percentage sucks because the Canes are giving up very few shots.
Yes that’s been a trend with our goalies the past few years. Fewer shots but a higher percent of high danger shots leads to lower GAA but a little lower SV Pct.

I haven’t been able to watch many games this year. How has my boy Koochie looked? In typical Carolina goalie fashion, his GAA is good but his save percentage is not quite as great. Curious to know how you guys think he looks.

I have an irrational hatred for the Sabres. Nice to see KK clock one of theirs.

Yeah that period has an ass chewing all over it, expecting a goal within the first five minutes of the second.
Nailed it.

Sheesh. Edmonton’s PP is insane.

9pm you say? This old man might be able to stay up for the whole first period!
Going to be interesting following the PP. I believe we got off to a hot start last year as well?

Central time zone.
Ahh thought it was a home game.

I saw it earlier but didn’t pay it attention…why is this frigging game at 8:00? I’m lying in bed sick and don’t want to wait an extra hour for this garbage.
-
Literally not even any young guys to watch and get excited for. So depressing.

Kidding. Will be watching just like Friday, will be standing in front of the TV cuz come the third period if I sit, I'll fall asleep.
I roll out of bed at 5:45 and get to work then get home at 6:00 for second shift… a 2 year old, 8 month old, and needy wife.

Confused Why Some Seem to Think We Got Fleeced

I have a strong feeling that we’ll get that second rounder back by 2025 through FitterMagic. 2 years to wheel and deal.
