I just got back from the gym. I was doing squats and lost my balance, but I caught myself. I finished my workout, but I bet this is going to hurt tomorrow.

Touche sir, touche. I have stalled on squats, bench press, and a few other things. I do expect things like wide grip pull ups or chest dip to get easier as I drop weight, but I just thought it was odd to see some strength increases while cutting

The thing that kills me is that I'm still seeing some gains, but it's things like the dumbbell rows, leg presses, and overhead presses

I go for 60 sec between reps and 120 between sets. It works with the routine I have, but I i was doing a 5x5 set, I would probably take a little more of a break

If I don't do something to make my brain zone out a little, I get insanely bored and start counting down the minute, miles, whatever thus making it feel way longer. I do mix up my cardio too, I run, hit the elliptical, and use Jacob's ladder.

If I can occupy my mind, I don't mind cardio. If I run, I prefer a treadmill with a TV. If it's going to be outside, I try to listen to a pod cast or a book on tape.

Zod has one and he seems to like it. If it's something that gets you motivated to get off the couch, I think it's a great idea.

I hate running, but I want to do a 10k so training is a necessity.

I bought a new pair of running shoes and it made a world of difference. I found a store that measures the angle of your pronation or subpronation and recommends a shoe based on how your feet land. I put 4.5 miles on them this morning and it helped a lot.

Bulk comes from eating and effort. Lean comes from less eating. If you're bored, (cardio bores the hell out of me) go to the gym and watch tv while you run, elliptical, bike, whatever. If you're going for it outdoors, try an intellectual pod cast or a book on tape to occupy your mind.

Lifting won't make you huge unless you're diet matches that effort. If you want to pack on muscle you have to eat 500ish more calories than you consume. Lifting might be a good way to break up the monotony of your cardio efforts. What is your workout environment? Home equipment, gym, or outdoor running?

I'm shooting for next year. I tried to do it last yeah but I tore up my calf while training which set me back a several months. The frustration and rage of not being able to train was quelled by me smoking again (I know, insanely stupid). Not that I'm healed and smoke free, it's time to get serious again. I will have use of a pool in a month or so, but the Rockies are not an option. I'll probably shoot for spending an hour 3 to 4 times a week doing laps. I know its a daunting task, but if we just shoot for easy goals, what have we accomplished.

I'm trying to increase my lung capacity. The years I smoked are definitely a limiting factor right now. I want to run a 10k in under 40 minutes and do a few mud runs.

The lack of gym etiquette is astounding. Put things back where it goes, clean stuff after you sweat on it, don't sit on a bench texting, and put the fuging towels to wipe down equipment in the basket.

I get that there maybe some grunting when lifting, especially with dead lifts and squats, but that guy was doing it all the time.
