I would rather see a return to the old way of doing it. Go back to pre-BCS days. It will not happen, but this has rapidly become a bunch of petty foolishness and a money-grab.

Brady and Belichick have always been incredibly unlikeable and have multiple cheating scandals.
I get not enjoying seeing the same team win a lot but I don’t understand that as a reason for hating them like a lot of people do — blame all the other teams that haven’t been able to beat them, it’s not like this is the MLB with no cap and they’re just outspending everyone like the Dodgers. It’s an even playing field and they’ve just been better than everyone else.
Mahomes’ family can be kind of annoying but I’ve never seen any reason at all to dislike him on or off the field. And Reid is about as likable as it gets for a coach. I can’t believe all the people out there overjoyed by and slobbering at the broncos winning the division over them, with fuging scumbag Sean Payton as coach.
It is more how exhausting and tedious everything becomes with the extreme over-exposure. The tv commercials that run constantly. The coverage that is over-the-top because everyone wants to constantly hear how great they are. It's the next big thing! Popularity breeds contempt.

Somehow I feel us and the Bucs will both find a way to lose.
No matter what, it should always be remembered, the mascot is a black cat.

Politics aside I got tired of seeing the Pats in the Super Bowl almost every year, then Brady with the Bucs, the Chiefs filled that void in an annoying way, just ready to mix it up and have a new champion every year instead of these dynasty teams
Unless it is a Panthers dynasty of course.

The change has been teams playing two high safeties to choke off big passing numbers. Your top tier qbs still produce though, and I do not think it will translate into an economic shift across positions in the league. The premium positions, qb, lt, pass rush, will still be the premiums.

The fun is just starting for the sideline headset wearing owner women.
They gave up their next two 1st round picks for a cornerback. And from what little I saw, really should not have done that.100% and the worst part of all that was it being predicated on the assumption they had the qb in place. I would not even be sure he plays next season now with how late this injury occurred. No matter what, Jones isn't going to be available next September.

Bucs are in a downward spiral.
Falcons will match up well against them with Bijan and put pressure on Baker.
Dolphins have won 3 in a row.
The problem with that is that the Falcons look like they have called it a season.

Just saw Daniel Jones having season ending Achilles surgery.
Yeah. Tough end to what started out as a good story for him and the Colts.

Watching this game tonight for no other reason than to see the end of the Chiefs.
Not sure if Houston has the muscle to shovel all that dirt on them though.

I am ordering a replica Lombardi with a Panther logo on it somewhere. I will hoist it one day. Yes, I said "Hoist."
I saw a while back some WWE wrasslin' belts that were done in NFL logos and team colors. It might be a nice accessory for your trophy hoisting.

Daniels exited the game with some sort of elbow injury again.

Well just cancel everything since they don't want to play anymore. Just go on and cancel Christmas too for good measure.

Steelers just squeaked out a win over the Ravens with a sack on Lamar to close the game out.

Colts gave up 26 and 27 1st rounders IIRC for Gardner.

The Bengals are a real NFL team when Burrow plays. Amazing what a great QB does for the entire team.
Complete squandering of his talent being on the Bengals.

UVa appears to have every intention of losing this game to unranked Duke.

IIRC the championship games came about when conferences started expanding, and divisions within the conference were created.
I think in fact a conference had to have 12 teams in order to hold a championship game. Like most things in college football, it was a revenue-producer, because the conference could sell a championship game now as part of their tv package.
The games are a bit unnecessary in this age of a playoff. They are not going to do away with it though as they still are revenue-producers.

I'm not compelled to believe UVa belongs in the conversation at all.

Alabama could go 6-6 and they’d still get in. Games don’t mean a thing.
Finebaum has somewhat jokingly called the playoff "The Alabama Invitational."

Duke moving the ball at will. I guess the Spurrier achievement will be diminished a bit after tonight.

wut? Dude has been the biggest bust of our FA signings. WTF is happening on this board. Is everyone high?
Everyone is giddy about the playoffs chance. Some corners of the internet are just about unbearable at the moment. It will pass.

Upfront, I was disappointed with the games last year. After it was all said and done, there really seemed to be an overwhelming hope that something similar to the basketball tournament would be created with this format. Cinderellas work in basketball for a few reasons, notably 1 player can have far more impact, positive or negative, on a 5-person team.
Every year there are a handful of teams that have a real claim to being a national champion contender. James Madison and Tulane have no shot. The same thing can be said about most of the other teams in the field.
Expanding it to more and more teams isn't going to have the effect of bringing in more contenders. It will have the effect of making up more 1-sided games instead. But, it is more football. Quantity over quality I guess. I can't wait until it moves up to 20 or 24 teams, or even more. Let every team in with 7 wins. That is bowl-eligible, plus 1.
Maybe this year will be different and it will be full of good, close games, with compelling performances between the very best teams in the country.
I kind of doubt it though.
