5 year deal? Well good for him. Expect 2 and half years or so of work, paid for 5. Not half bad.

XL does nothing to improve 1 of Buffalo's real weaknesses. He does not improve their wr group 1 bit.

The CMC trade felt good to me at the time, felt like a win/win for both teams for where they were and given McCaffrey's injury history at a position losing value rapidly.
Now in Hindsight, we should've received 4 future first rounders + George Kittle
.
I think there was a little bit of talk that his best years were over.
The trade in and of itself doesn't matter. Whether it was justified, smart, dumb, is all just kind of talk now.
He very much still has legs. We traded him for a 2nd, 3rd, 4th and. 5th, and there were plenty of voices that said we were fortunate to get that.

What's done is done. I do not think we received fair market value compensation for him.
Somewhat interesting, there is an NFL commercial that featured a morph of running backs through the ages that ended with CMC in a Panthers uniform. I noticed this season the commercial changed, and no longer features him at all, but rather ends with Curtis Martin in a Jets uniform.

Maybe one day, the Panthers will have a shot to lose 18 games in a season. Tepper will probably still be rolling Young out to start.

The CBA allows for 20 games, which is why it was 4+16 games, and now 3+17, and soon it will be 2+18. That is not breaking news. It will not be happening next season though. It will be the next big negotiating point though, and most people expect players to ask for some big concessions for going along with an additional game.
No longer drug testing for marijuana is my guess.

At least they need new Titans uniforms. They were actually kind of cool when they originally came out. The current revision is terrible.
It's still the blue-on-blue with the flaming thumbtack logo?

Its just a Charlotte Hornets joke. The Texans is much shittier than the Oilers overall. They should have been that but the Titans still own all the rights and history. So it's a bit similar.
The only problem is they created a new mascot name with the same colors. So if you brought the Oilers back, you'd need to rebrand the Titans at least in color.
Oh I get it, and I think it is supremely weird when the Titans do Oilers throwbacks. I was more wondering about the Pelicans since there are none in Tennessee, and didn't see the New Orleans-Charlotte connection.
Maybe they should just rebrand to UT colors and embrace what they were afraid of instead.

Titans to be the Pelicans.
I don't really understand the connection, but it is funny.
That's been a weird situation. They wanted a T, for Tennessee, but they didn't want it to be confused with UT, and the Colts were included in the AFC South, despite being a very northern city, and having its previous roots in the AFC East, because they thought fans in Tennessee would be more inclined to buy tickets to watch Peyton Manning play.

Per the rumor mill, the last straw with Vrabel in Nashville was him showing up to the team Christmas party with his mistress lmao
I heard it was him showing up in NE for his ring of honor ceremony and talking about how great the organization was and the Titans ownership felt a certain way about that.
They also fired/mutually parted ways with Mike Mularky after he got them to the playoffs.
So making the playoffs as the Titans coach is the kiss of death. They've ran off the last 2 to achieve that lofty goal.

I disagree. There are examples where big name coaches were brought in and its understood the team is trying to win. Like firing Dungy to hire Gruden. No one looks back on tampa and poo poos them for the move.
Everyone knows that Gruden won the Superbowl with Dungy's team, versus his old team, that was too stupid to even change up their calls and signals.
So there is that. I don't know if it could be counted as poo poo.

I have no specific insight, but I think he wants to go somewhere that is a Superbowl contender. He's over 30, he's spent time already with bad ownership and contract fights and holdouts. My guess is he would prefer to go to a contending team and be taken care of financially and just work on getting sacks for a year or 2 and maybe a ring along the way.
Rams? Eagles? Pats? Niners? Broncos? Seahawks?
But who knows. Maybe he is the mood for more ownership shenanigans and missing the playoffs.

Raiders are probably waiting on coaches currently in the playoffs
i see no way, drafting Mendoza, and with tom brady as co owner, that they would bring a mediocre defensive coordinator in as HC
no way
I think it was Eisen last week that brought up an idea of reaching out to Cignetti to see if he would be interested in the job, since he would be assured of having Mendoza.
I can't imagine he would be though.

There is no chance Brady doesn't pick an offensive guy. He forced the Chip Kelly thing on the Raiders.
They will make a disaster hire and Mendoza will get ruined there.
Maybe he should hire his old pal from New England?!
Give him another shot!
Maybe he will be better this time! It wouldn't be the 1st time the Raiders have gone back and hired a previous coach again. Not even the 2nd time!

If we brings McDaniel as his OC it could get interesting
It's not so much about his ability to be a coach. It's ownership, followed by roster, followed by general standing in the division, followed by even more ownership. They've parted ways previously with 2 coaches that got them into the playoffs.

Yeah the premier job part was pretty funny.
But they have that number one pick and it is going to QB.IMO they are gonna follow the script, most likely, and go offensive guy to groom and develop the QB
That's how Crazy Old Al Davis sold it for years. A real NFL head coaching job! 1 of 32 in the world!

Saleh should rent, and not buy something in the Nashville area.

If I'm DT, I'm called McD right now and asking him what he wants to be HC here. That said, McD will be the next coach of the Steelers.
I don't know, he does just have a Steelersish feel to him though. Seems like there kind of hire maybe.

All I know is there are some damn good coaches that former players vocally hate (Flores). Being a good leader can be the difference between a team fighting and a team that wants the season to end and to be rid of you.
Of course. I don't think anyone questions whether he is liked, or respected, or if he is an assclown, or if he knows his stuff.
NFL is results-oriented though. Not For Long. He doesn't have the notables and superlatives.

Culture builder. Got the Panthers to the post season. He is the counter punch to all the teams hiring the next 20 year old wunderkin off McVays tree.
I will agree with the McVay connection. I think the culture stuff is fluff and wishful thinking though. He doesn't have the numbers to show anything.

Hopefully he gets one of those head coaching jobs
Realistically though, what has he accomplished here that is going to be a feather in his cap on the resume? Tell me why someone would hire him to be the top guy?

After years of seeing Cam and other QB's getting crushed by some awful Olines I'll never complain about dumping resources into it.
No more Byron Bells and Nate Chandlers.
I hate to be this way, but that might be what we are doing this season. I sure hope not.
