I understand the Penix pick. The guy is the best passer in the draft. Better arm and mobility than Cousins, but similar enough that Penix can learn a lot. Cousins is gone after 2025, and might even be the backup by midseason 2025. Sucks for him, but that's how I read it.

drastically? I wouldn't say that. Johnson IMO is a one year rental. Leggette IMO is now the best long term hopeful.
But I still think for Bryce Young, RB, TE and the slot trio is the bread and butter pass game for him to succeed and we haven't improved there at all.
I agree regarding Johnson to an extent. However, if the offense shows a dramatic turnaround it would be possible to simply resign him.
In looking at Canales offense last year, I don't think TE is an issue. Their starting TE only caught 45 balls all year. It's just not a feature of the offense. RB on the other hand is something that may be an issue, as the Bucs starter caught 64 balls. In fairness, Chuba caught 39 on only 44 targets, so maybe there is something there after a couple years of struggle.
Anyway, I think it's fair to say that our WR room is drastically different this year. And that's a good thing. We won't know if it's drastically better until the bullets start flying.

Cousins contract is actually not that difficult to get rid of, by QB standards. After 2025 they can cut with only 25 million in dead money, assuming they don't restructure before.

Caleb Williams is the anti-Bryce. Seriously. All the physical tools and none of the leadership capacity.

Franchise hasn't been the same without Cam.
We were robbed of a SB. I truly believe we win a championship if Cam never got injured. He was too good of a QB not to have won at least 1 championship. The fact he got us to a SB with what he had on offense is amazing.
These elite QB's today have multiple elite weapons on offense and still can't reach a SB.
Just to be clear . . . we were not robbed of a SB here:

Harmon likes Pearsall.
But, don't miss it even Harmon mentions "underneath." Pearsall is projected to be a slot receiver. That doesn't mean that he won't tear it up though, but I'd rather have that X receiver with top 10 potential.
Given the . . . ahem . . . limitations of our current QB, a young "gets open quick" target is probably the best thing for us.

If we add a stud RB, TE, and WR to go with the free agent moves at G and WR, Bryce will have no excuses.
Bryce already has no excuses. Either he shows that he's a franchise QB or we draft someone who might be next year. The fanbase can still hope that BY has a Trevor Lawrence like upturn in his second season. That would be great. Another season like the last and he's Zach Wilson.

Estime has really good vision and above average contact balance. Acceleration is his "issue". It takes him a bit to get going. He's also pretty good with pass pro, which is a plus.

And is now the special teams coordinator for UCLA.
Dude isn't leading a bad life, not at all.
I don't blame Fletcher at all, glad to see he's sorted out his life after playing. He seemed like a good kid. Just not one we should have blown a draft pick on.

Honestly, McDaniels offense never looked all that good without Brady. There were some short stints where a New England backup made the offense work, but certainly no extended periods of success for the McDaniels offense without Brady.

The entire take by PFF ignores the fact that Diontae was actually one of the biggest deep threats in the NFL last year. He had the same yards per catch as Jaylen Waddle and MORE that AJ Brown. For an organization focused largely on stats, they sure seem to ignore them a lot when it doesn't fit the narrative they want to peddle.

The guy is a one year rental to remove all excuses and copium from the BY situation. No way he stays after this year. I'm a lot more interested in who we draft.

Trading back when you can instead take what is potentially a couple first round talents who slid because of how the board fell is nuts. We need more starters. They don't have to be stars, just good solid NFL starters.
Mike Rucker, Mike Minter, Deshaun Foster, Taylor Moton. We need a couple of those type with our two second rounders this year. It would go a long, long way toward setting us back on track.

You don't trade down for straight value when you need players like we do. You trade down if someone makes a SILLY offer. Give me 52, 99 and a second next year and we can talk.

I can't understand a trade down at all. Picks 33 and 39 should, on most teams, be starting quality players. We can use those. Once you get to the third round, you don't find as many starters.

Next year you can cut him with the June designation and save $17 million, with 12 million dead. Or you can work out an extension. But this year, let it ride.

Arm talent is easy to see and understand. It's one of the easiest parts of a QB evaluation. Not sure how anyone looked at Bryce and thought he had high end arm talent.

It's all just guesswork, but honestly I do hope this plays out. It will eliminate all doubt as to where the problems are with our offense.

Honestly, it's all speculation until September. I take everything our organization says with an entire shaker of salt.
I will continue to hope for our success, but I won't get excited about it until we actually see it on the field.

He’s a nice young man. I hope he and the team can generate some success this season.
He needs a nickname, maybe that will help. Never forget: "Philly catches the ball. Corey is a nice young man."

Mediocrity. It seems so attractive now that we've had Tepper for a few years.

To me what's even more frustrating is all picks that were traded away. Just in the drafts he oversaw, the guy traded away 12 picks. We're still suffering for this year and next with picks he traded away. Is it too much to ask that our GM just, you know, draft some guys?
Oh, and with the exception of Bryce, the guys we traded for are no longer on the team. Is it any wonder we have a talent deficit on the team?

This sounds a lot more like what probably happened.

I think the original premise is flawed. I think a stronger correlation can probably be drawn between drafting and success. How many of your draft picks make the team? How many of them contribute meaningful snaps to the team? Seven successful picks per draft and you can turn over half your roster for free in four years.
Hopefully you follow up by retaining the ones who want to be there and let the guys looking for bank walk. The premise is easy and obvious, but executing it seems like what separates the good teams from the bad.

WR Corp drastically improved or not?

I think Bryce will be given every chance to succeed in an offense tailored to him. But it's still going to be Canales offense. It's still going to be an NFL offense.
