  1. Florida, redneck, dumb, angry, no mask, no respect. His chances of having the virus are high.

That's the thing. You see these yocals blatantly enterring restaurants or stores without a mask. If they don't have the sense to take simple precaustions you just have to assume they are going to some rebellious church or local speedway or lake boat party. They are walking petri dishes.

Who could have predicted just how fuging stupid a significant portion of our population could be? It's really like a differant species.

Yep. We tried that first Friday the NC mask mandate went into effect. Virtually no patrons were wearing masks. The restaurant staff were wearing them around their chins. We just turned around and noped right on out of there.

Most places I have been have been quite good. It's completely based on the demographics of the area. Unfortunately there isn't much the restaurant can do.  If these people aren't respectful of the law and the establishment then you can bet they are not being careful everywhere else they are the rest of the time. It's best to stay away. This is going to get uglier.

I honestly can't fathom that people are this stupid.

  3. After seeing the redneck families and groups going out to eat with zero regard for the current mask requirements I am done eating out. My optimism of a few weeks ago has been destroyed.  If only the politics of stupidity only affected the individual. They get what they deserve but the people putting in honest work and effort don't deserve the destructive outcomes.

Did I see this correctly - did the EU ban Americans from traveling there? I guess you know who got his travel ban after all.

Americans have been restricted from entering since the beginning. However, as they ease restrictions Jul 1, travel from the US is still not permitted. There is a specific list of countries that will be granted access.

I never should have left Thailand in March. This place is a dump.

Not a single employee is wearing a mask and no one offered me anything :(

I'm in the Winston area. People up here have been surprisingly pretty good about wearing masks. Unfortunately some areas have different demographics and have started a war on common sense.

I’m in Toyota dealership and almost no one is wearing a mask but people good 6 feet away from each other.

I've visited a handful of dealerships the past several week. Most everyone I've seen is wearing a mask and they had masks for customers at the door if needed.

    speaking of masks

A GC I am working with in Houston says that OSHA is not happy with their masks because they are not designed for environments where people might sweat.  So construction guys are being advised that their masks are bad when they get wet from sweat as the virus "sticks" to it?  Really damned if you do and damned if you don't.  They said that the bandana type things are the worst, do not use.  At least that is what they are telling the construction crews.

He had one team where 16 guys tested positive but only 3 had any symptoms at all.

If this is coming from somebody in the know that's one thing. It certainly sounds like some assumptions and bs though.

    Real Question

Has anyone actually ran out these things yet?  Or, just don't have as many on hand as they would like at this point?  Most seem to be directing as needed, mostly to NY

yes, all around the world. Luckily we have finally got things orgainized here and industry is now kicking in to frantically manufacture all these things.

They are reusing equipment this week out of necessity. They are making their own equipment and protective ware. Local technical schools are volunteering to manufacture these items as fast as they can using 3D Printers.

And unless all the reports are wrong, the entire count of death due to coronavirus in the entire world so far, just caught up yesterday to what we here in the US have lost already this seasonal flu season for 2019-2020

That's great news? We reached in like a month what it took since November to get with exponential growth that is just ramping up . Wonderful!

Probably good that we are set up with governors.

Every state is different, and every state should not necessarily be doing the exact same measures.  NYC is not Wyoming.  Each governor will be graded on how he handled in his state.  Each day, they have a call with all governors to see what is needed.

Sure it does have it's benefits. But having a Federal void isn't helping.

That’s what is going to happen. Whatever boneheaded idea pops in to president orange face while he is scrolling twitter on the toilet will be what happens

Though nothing has been federally mandated so far. So the states can still deal with it as they are currently.  Some Governors are doing great jobs. Just a really poor way for a country to deal with something. Hopefully a lot is learned from this and we get a capable leader with good intentions at some point. I don't care what party they come from but we desperately need a real one.

Everyone is a fool, look at my chart!!

    Go a bit deeper.

Our cases are skyrocketing for 2 reasons, first, we started mass testing a couple weeks ago, 2nd, we are way behind on getting results.  The backlog will be catching up soon, but CDC says to expect huge numbers as they catch up on all backlog tests.

    Deaths are real time however.

NYC has a third of all deaths in US.  One city.  Been saying that for a couple weeks and anyone who has been to NY knows there is no room for anything like distancing there.  It is one large petri dish.  Concentrating on them is a good thing.

We aren't mass testing. It's nearly impossible to get tested unless you meet specific criteria. We need to be but we don't have the resources. A friend is over 65 and meets multiple  other  CDC testing  criteria associated with previous conditions to be tested AND just flew through Korea and Seattle and cant get a test.

I was out of the country. There was a number you call if you feel symptoms. They coordinate where you go to get screened and most likely tested. You might have to pay $25 for this.  Here it's a convoluted mess where each insurance provider, each healthcare system, each hospital, etc have different standards and policies towards this.  I just returned home to be here for my elderly parents. If not for that I would have stayed where I was. I've been listening to stories of friends and acquaintances needing tests this past 2 weeks and getting nowhere. It helps if you are famous.

  13. The worst thing would be to start this process, incur the economic toll, then bail on it and get hammered then try to start it again. We haven't even reached to point it is mathematically possible to realize any benefits and people want to bail on it.

SIP will not do anything. People have already been exposed to the Virus. The people you have already been around in stores, surfaces you touched, etc. It has already happened. Social Distancing is fine, however forcing a curfew or forcing quarantine will not go well. Just be vigilant, wash your hands, be courteous of others, and it will be fine. It is a huge mistake ordering SIP, it will cause more mental harm, and physical harm, then the actual virus will.

Virus don't walk or fly. They spread when people move and they have a shelf life on surfaces. Pretty simple.

Just to put it into perspective, just the Denver metro area is over 8000 square miles. There are only 3500 in the entire Colorado National Guard. That's roughly one person for every 2.3 square miles. Meanwhile, there's almost 3 million residents in those 8000 square miles.

That's not gonna work unless people willingly comply in which case it's unnecessary to begin with.

I don't think they do it with belief that force is neccessary for every person..it makes people take it serious if nothing else.

  16. A surprise lockdown would do nobody any good and ne a disaster. The li downs have all been announced. You have to give people time to get where they can be.

The previous 3 have had advanced notification.

I’m really not sure what that graph is trying to explain. Why is Italy way ahead in terms of days?

It is explained on the image. Days since 100 total cases

    There’s some alterior motive here,..

i mean, Tuberculosis kills 3000 people per day in the world and is the number 1 most deadly sickness... I just posted a chart on FB.

and we still had toilet paper in the store last month and went to work,..

    this has gone berserk.

Paronoia, xenophobia, legal issues, human nature, uncertainty, etc.

Tuberculosis kills about 520 per calendar year in the USA and the cases have been in a constant decline. Its treated with antibiotics and this has been understood for a long time. Were at 57 confirmed deaths in the USA in like a month.

No idea why toilet paper is so important all of a sudden.
