  1. Video Game GIF by sambmotion

If the NFL was an old school 80s-90s arcade game - the $0.25 coin to start the game is a playoff caliber QB.. period
If you don't have any coins - you can only watch the high scores roll by & pretend you are playing the game during the arcade's intro video..

We don't have a playoff caliber QB right now, obviously.. we had one and probably have only had 3-4 over the franchise's history.. this just made me realize that IF you are lucky enough to have one - you drop that coin into the machine and play off that 1 coin as long as you possibly can.. we still had some extra lives off that last coin but we just walked away from machine..

Now, we are just like all those broke kids - on the sticky soda soaked floor, on our hands & knees hoping to find something shinny under all the machines and checking the coin slots of other arcades.. we WILL find a coin sooner or later.. hopefully sooner, but we will probably have to go back home (the draft) and find one in the couch cushions or smash our piggy bank open.. but when we do find one - we better truly cherish that ish..

  2. Golden State might be the best team in the West.. good to get them out of the way first on this road trip.. the rest are all winnable if we play well..

the thing I wanted to see (maybe even more than a W) is if we were able to hang with them and play small with them.. they don't have a Big that will punish us like Bam did vs MIA.. we just had a bad shooting 3Qtr and didn't recover well enough..

I'm starting to see our flaws in the roster as far as size and shooting.. we are very small and Very streaky.. trading for a Big or clearing a roster spot for Biz should be in order.. regardless of his offensive limitations - he can play defense against traditional Bigs and grab boards..

last night wasn't a size issue though - it was a streaky shooting issue.. I don't think there is a simple remedy for that..

  3. We needed to stack the Ws before we head out west.. this early road trip could be brutal for us.. hopefully we come out above .500

@GS on ESPN Wednesday, @SAC, @LAC/LAL on a back to back, then @MEM.. we could go 0-5.. my hope is we grab SAC, LAC and get MEM on an off night and come out 3-2 = 8-5 overall

but probably going 1-4 and looking at a 6-7 record in the face..

Watching LaMelo run those gambits felt oddly familiar to Borrego, like an echo of something he had seen while coaching under Gregg Popovich in San Antonio. “I think of Pop often, in how he handled Manu [Ginobili], and how he coached him over the years,” Borrego says. “I use that in how I coach Melo. What makes him special and competitive and a winning player, you have to let that ride. You have to let it be part of your fabric as an organization. It’s gonna drive a lot of your culture and how you play. It’s instinctive. It’s competitive. It’s, in some ways, unteachable.” Although some stricter part of him—perhaps the San Antonio part of him—wants to hold Ball accountable for gambling on big plays, Borrego can’t help but consider the duality of Manu.

Interesting read that starts out as fluff but quickly turns into a good read..

  5. Plumlee was unplayable vs Bam.. JB took him out after getting exposed.. just a bad bad matchup

PJ played some good D as the backup but I think they restricted him on minutes cus we had Bridges playing center at the end..

We need to find a quality Big to help play D and rebound.. there is an available vet FA Center that does those 2 things but I don't want to mention his name.. it rhymes with Wiz.. 😶

Why did they even draft Bouknight to begin with?  They've got a log-jam with young, talented back court players.  Im struggling to find a scenario where Bouk gets any significant run anytime soon unless someone gets injured.

During the offseason, the rotation was set up to be:
    PG - Ball - Ish
    SG - Terry - Bouk
    SF - Gordon - Oubre
    PF - Miles - PJ/McD
    C - Plumlee - PJ

    Right now the rotation is:
    PG - Ball - Ish
    SG - Oubre - Martin
    SF - Gordon - Martin/McD
    PF - Miles - McD
    C - Plumlee - Richards

No one during the offseason thought we would be getting quality minutes from all 3 of Martin, McD and Richards.. im nervous to even point out that Martin has taken a jump up especially on his Defense and 3ball.. he is a career 27% 3pt shooter and is connecting at 50% right now.. he did a great job of locking up Harden during the Nets game..

McD right now - is shooting 70% from 3pt land.. and Richards has come in while Plumlee gets some air, and the defense hasn't fallen off a cliff - he looks like a serviceable NBA center..

All that to say - Bouknight was supposed come into the Monk role but with the way Martin is playing - he is not needed right now.. if Martin was playing like he was at the end of last year, I'm sure Bouk would be pushing for minutes..
