You mean not lining up late and rushing to snap the ball right before the play clock expires every time? Interesting... dont think we've seen that in a long long time. Lol

I understand that logic but no way in hell we get minimal from a first round WR. They contribute in a big way these days he was targeted for a reason. I agree DJ should get busy being the clear number one but you don't trade up for the best jump ball catcher Moss type with how he catches passes and expect minimal. Not Jamar Chase but a big year 8 plus TD and over 6-700 yards total rec/rush. Sorry I'm not setting the bar at the minimum just because we've been azz I'm holding us to a normal standard.
Edit: Man no way a udfa out performs our first rounder it's possible but shouldn't be the case we need to strategically put him in position to excel with our young creative offensive head coach like Mike McDaniel per say.
First round wr that played 5 seasons in college.

This front office is obsessed with 2010-2014 Seattle.
Trying to model/recreate some kind of past success never seems to work.
Definitely infatuated with 2010-2014 Seattle and also Deebo Samuel for some reason it feels like lol

Legette has the most upside of any WR in this draft. That does not mean he is better, but the room between where he is and where he could become is wider than anyone else--very close to Mitchell.
I disagree pretty strongly about all that but I hope you're right.

This type of dude is who the eagles have been using for their drafts for a few years now. I'll take it.

maybe we shouldn't of hired the dude that had the worst rush attack in the NFL in his only year as an OC if that is what we seek to be. And Tampa ran into weaker boxes than most of the league and still was horrible.
I used to definitely think this way but over time and the more examples ive considered, great coordinators dont usually make great head coaches and vice versa. He seems energetic and positive and players seem to like playing for him. Im goinf to wait and judge him as a head coach since its a totally different job.

yea it was actually a playful interaction. People just wanted to run with it because they hate Tepper. Dude was wearing an eagles hat which is why Tepper jokingly took it off. Also isnt a nyj sports bar or something like that? I dont even think ite a panthers bar. This is probably one of the best things thats ever happened to this dudes business.

They scout during the season (obviously) so this is the only time to switch things up.We’ll, unless you want to go into FA and the draft with no scouts.
I bet we start hearing about firings on that side tomorrow or next week.
Well I saw it was pro scouts anyways but yes. If it was our college scouts I would have rather gotten rid of them a long time ago. Why keep bad scouts around until after the draft just to have them? No scouts might be better than bad ones. Huddle polls would have done better drafts than our team the past several years.
-
No idea why we didnt get rid of the entire scouting department a long time ago. Why wait till after the draft. I assume that played a part in why this draft felt like every other draft of the past few years.

DK's got over 2" height on X and has 5" more in wingspan while being heavier. DK ran a 4.33 & X ran a 4.39 40, I'm just saying those are different dudes! Pumped for X though can't wait to watch him.
Oh yea, I had forgotten about his shortish arms and smallish hands.

Looks like a raw college WR to me, some plays looks like hes got issues just running.
Hope fans give him time, like they never do.
I think JC horn will get him ready for NFL CBs
He played 5 years in college and is older than Mingo.

I'm sorry, what? Much smaller? At draft, DK Metcalf was 6' 3", 228. XL is 6' 1", 221. The both ran 4.3 40's. Both had a 40" vertical jump. Both had a combined next gen score of 79. If you read their draft profiles, they have a lot of the same strengths and weaknesses. How much closer could they be and not be the exact same player?
Of course I'm not saying that XL is the next DK Metcalf. Only production and performance can determine that. But as prospects, they are incredibly similar.
You can find a lot more bad comparisons with thise numbers than good ones which is basically DK.

The 2024 NFL draft has come and gone, and with it, almost all the surrounding commentary. There are a few more things to go over though, like full draft grades.
There is a site that did a cumulative score from all the grades combined and it came out to us having the 30th ranked draft. I tend to agree unfortunately that we are closer to that than first personally but hopefully I'm wrong and in the end immediate draft grades are entirely useless amyways.

Legette is a nice prospect, with lots of upside. But this guy saying he is better than Harrison, Odunze, and Nabors, sorry but he's out of his ever loving mind.
Aka ex scout.

because that’s likely how he’s going to be utilized early on until he develops his intermediate game
In college he never got quick seperation. Im not sure I could expect it to happen in the NFL.

I like this draft much more than our actual one. There are a couple picks i would change but overall I like this one much better.

fair question and I think the XL selection warrants probably it's own thread but I think they are trying to build a complimentary WR room. I really, really liked Ladd but his skill set somewhat redundant with what we already have. In terms of the future it's harder to find true "x" WRs than it is, slot guys
I agree with what youre saying but Ladd is really only redundant with6 Diontae maybe and hes a fa after this season. Also I think this true X wr stuff is dated. Mia had one of the best passing games in the league if not the best and their top wrs are both around 5'10 180 lbs.

If you think Mingo is gonna take AT off the field in the slot then I have a beach house to sell you in Idaho
Mingo's true position is big slot. I would say technically the same could be said with the TE we drafted. Take that how you want to as far as snap counts. All I'm saying is that is where he should be getting whatever snaps he does or doesnt get.

Seems pretty clear what they are trying to build to me, a power running game that supports a quick passing game. We signed two huge guards, Canales is known for emphasizing quick throw time, we traded for Dionte Johnson, drafted the best RB in the draft, first pick was a bigger Deebo Samuel and we drafted a receiving TE
Power run, play action, quick throws, try to limit third and long.
My question is why draft legette of all the receivers for a quick passing game?

The seam as well with the TE
Yep, in the grand scheme of things most of the picks dont fit Young's strengths or Canales saying he wants the ball out quick. Brooks fits but thats about it. This to me just really feels like a late 90s nfl draft. I hope the players end up being great though.

The coach has a systemhe evaluated the current roster and you see all the changes made
…his picks are to allow him to execute his system…the Gm is making those picks
it isn’t to please
1. Those who think he isn’t running a modern system
2. the mock draft people
3 or the talking heads
He evaluated the team and said with action what we all know…there is zero offensive skilled talent on this team…zero….plus a qb not exactly skilled in long passes…don’t think he doesn’t know that …and oline pieces that were a mish mash
what would you have him do….go vertical…without a qb to support it…go all receivers with the same qb who can’t get the ball to them …let’s be real here Young is neither mahomes or Allen
if young falls, he will be shelved after year 2 and at least the foundation will be set for the ‘modern offense’
They went vertical with Legette. That's the one thing he is mainly good at.

I don’t get the “poor” size grade. Isn’t 6’4 pretty average for TE?
I like him. He was my te #3. The size thing isnt height based its weight based. I believe he was 241lbs which puts him as one of if not the lightest te in the nfl if im not mistaken. I dont think its a deal breaker though.
Goodbye chain gang?
