This dude is about to go to Atlanta and they are sending Ryan to Indy.
You think the Texans would facilitate Ryan to Indy? lol

If we don't get a tackle in FA, a trade back & Linderbaum would be my perfect scenario. As long as we keep ourselves in the window to get him. Come on, Iggles. Do us a solid and trade your two 1st rounders for spot #6.
And I agree regarding measurements being irrelevant. I gave those stats after quoting / highlighting this part of Smittymoose's post:
It was to prove that the size measurement is a dumb argument.
It’s not. I’d look up all the tiny centers who never did poo in the NFL, but it would take me all day

Good God the 3 picks is hard to swallow but giving up our best two defenders really hurts.
Question for the Cap guys. We don't add much to the salary cap off of Burns and Chinn? I mean that is more money we can bring in replacements for these guys.
Trading Burns saves about $2M; trading Chinn saves about $750k. Neither is a cap burden on either Houston or Carolina, which is likely why they continue to be mentioned. Trading Brown would incur a slightly negative cap hit, but it is less than $1M.

Yeah you are right I believe. It's why we have shaved away our cap hits so quickly. We would just wait and see if we landed Watson or not first if we didn't have to...
I believe that teams can only be over once the year rolls over until the new league year officially begins, which is tomorrow at 4 PM. I do not believe a team can go negative on a trade. Thus, New Orleans will need $35M in space to acquire Watson, though they could lower their cap number again after acquiring him by restructuring or extending him.

They don’t need to be under the cap to make the trade. They just have to be under the cap by the start of the season.
Source? Because I believe this is wildly wrong. At the very least, each team must reconcile their cap by the start of the league year, which is tomorrow at 4 PM.

Saints still $3M over the cap after the Davenport restructure, and so, $38M away from clearing enough room to trade for Watson.

What the falcons would need to do cap wise
Good write up, but they pretty clearly are not going to cut Grady Jarrett.

Looks like the Saints just restructured Marcus Davenport's contract to save them just under 7 million on the cap this year. Still nowhere near what they need for DW.
Interesting because it also knocks out what you would assume would be one of their few attractive pieces in a trade.

yet national media thinks Saints... none of this adds up.
Because the national media is getting fed bullshit from the Saints. It seems obvious to me at this point. Doesn't jibe with what's coming out of the local.

People get way too caught up in this “is it worth 6th overall” mindset. Certain positions sure, like RB due to the short shelf life. But you’re saying you wouldn’t draft a guy at #6 who you knew would be a top 5 center for 10+ years because he’s a center? It doesn’t matter who you pick, you can get a Morris Claiborne or a Jalen Ramsey. Give me the stalwart at his position, doesn’t matter who it is.
Take the best OL at #6 or trade down if our favorites are all gone. Hoping for Ekwonu or Cross but I’ll take anything right now
Yes, that's exactly what I am saying. Teams routinely find good late-round centers. The fact that "it doesn't matter who you pick" because anyone can bust is exactly why you don't draft a guy with weak positional value at 6th overall. Even the "safest" prospects can bust. Remember when Aaron Curry was the surest next big thing?

It really seems the news gets worse for Carolina as the hours and days go on
Because people are impatient. Saints are squeezed out if this runs past 4 PM tomorrow.

Indy doesn’t have a 1st rounder this year. Not that I think it’s a guarantee Ryan fetches a 1st but if Atlanta just traded all their 1’s they’re going to try like hell to get one back
Doesn't mean they will get one. What's the market for Ryan? Colts and Browns? I bet a 2022 Second + 2023 Conditional Second that can become a First would get that deal done pretty easily. That might even be an overpay.

But then wouldn't they have to trade Matt Ryan after he just restructured? Boy. This is getting confusing as hell.
And if that happens, extremely strong chance Ryan's destination is...Indy. Which Houston is not about to facilitate. NEXT!

Let's compare combine numbers....
Tyler Linderbaum Combine Numbers
- 6'2"
- 296 pounds
- 31 1/8 arms
- 10" hands
Ryan Kalil Combine Numbers
- 6'2"
- 299 pounds
- 31 1/2 arms
- 10" hands
Let's leave it to Matt Rhule to get too caught up in those numbers. If Linderbaum can be the next Ryan Kalil for us for the next decade, I have no problem with him at #6. I would also be fine with one of the top LT's at #6, and picking up (Browns former Center) JC Tretter if possible.
That's cute, but Ryan Kalil wouldn't be worth the 6th overall pick either, even if there was a guarantee he'd be that good.

The number of people who want to draft a tiny center at #6 overall is amazing to me. He should be nowhere near Carolina's board unless there's a trade back of 10+ picks.

If they're a fan of Lance, it could work. New franchise QB on a rookie deal and a couple pieces or picks to go with. I can see it.
No. It can't work on the 49ers end.

I told you guys this yesterday. Whoever gets Watson will most likely get Armstead as well
I'm curious if New Orleans can recoup the cap hit once Armstead's contract voids. Right now, prior to the new year, they can extend him and avoid it. They may be out if a deal doesn't come together by 4 PM tomorrow, either on Watson, Armstead, or both.

Time will tell.
What are they going to trade away? How are they going to make the cap work? They're in one of the tighter cap spots in the league. They get a $16M penalty if they trade Lance. They don't have a first round pick until 2024.
It's a virtual impossibility now. Last offseason? Great fit. But circumstances change.

No, I actually have a bad feeling he ends up in SF. I had a feeling yesterday there would be a late player get in the mix and win the sweepstakes. He knows he can go there and immediately be a super bowl contender.
Hahahahaha.
As close to a 0% chance as it gets. Not happening.

Sounds like we are a backup plan for Watson and that we are not his first or second choice due to our head coach.
That guy is not a source. He's bullshitting. Y'all gotta stop taking Twitter randos so seriously.

Ramcyzk would be something like an immediate 27 million dead cap hit if hes traded. They JUST restructured his contract to attempt to get under the cap. I just dont see the resources there on NO's side. Especially compared to what we can offer.
Only guys with any measure of value they can move:
Payton Turner
CGJ
Marcus Davenport
Paulson Adebo
Pete Werner (if he has any real value)
That whole package isn't even worth the 6th overall pick by itself.

In his situation where he’s lucky to even be a free man I personally would be humbled and consider myself lucky anyone wants me on a team. But then again I’ve never been tempted at this level so that’s purely anecdotal I guess
But he has multiple suitors that would gladly take him. Why shouldn't he maximize his value?

it hurts the ego to see him go to the Saints if you're on of those fans who got your hopes up for a year maybe, but there are no shortcuts in the NFL. Saints get one or two cracks at the ring before DW is making $55 million a year and they lose their talent with no means to replace them, while we build up a pretty good defense alongside finally addressing the offensive line, and then we'll be set by bringing in a veteran QB or drafting a rookie. This is better in the long run even if it doesn't look like it
Sounds great if you don't understand how the NFL works.
Sign Armstead and draft Tyler Linderbaum
in Carolina Panthers

Of course it isn't, but it's a pretty big wart on the resume of a guy who doesn't play a premier position when you're drafting 6th overall. Your argument is silly.
