I would like to take a chance on Malik Hooker. He will be cheap, and if he can stay healthy he is a stud. If he gets hurt again, you are only out small money.
Also wonder of Richard Sherman would consider a move to FS? Probably wants big money though.
Malik Hooker on a prove it deal would be pleasant.

I still think he's our starting LG and we bring in one of the three older LT's.... Villanueva, Okung, or Wagner
Please not Okung. Probably a great guy but I knew he was gonna be hurt all year before he was hurt all year.

I look for the following possible veteran cuts probable to make the roster before the draft:
1. Stantly Thomas-Oliver III CB
2. Ian Thomas TE
3. Rashaan Melvin CB
4. Christian Miller OLB
5. Austin Larkin DE
6. Dennis Daley OL (unless he can find health)
7.Trenton Cannon RB
8. Rodney Smith RB
9. Colin Thompson TE
10. Brandon Zylstra WR
11. Greg Little OT
12. JJ Jansen (that one hurts) LS
13. Joey Slye K
So it is hard to say--we added 11 picks (I think 10 make the roster), and 11 free agents that will stick in my opinion, and I think 1 undrafted free agent makes this roster (Moore). So that is 22 new faces, leaving 9 not listed above on the bubble, but I think the roster limit increases in 2021. Remember, you will have a player or two on IR, so this should cover it WORST CASE SCENARIO.
They are:
Frankie Luvu LB
Marquis Haynes Edge
Troy Pride CB
Kenny Robinson S
Stephen Sullivan TE
Yall should try this--it is hard.
The only two backs better than Smith are McCaffrey and Hubbard. The Bonnafon experiment is over and Cannon isn’t it. Daley/Zylstra will be fine. Don’t think new guy will beat out Slye. Jansen is 50/50.

Free agency and draft are in the book. Let's see how we stack up. Based on our very incomplete depth chart, here's how I'm guessing we stack up going into the season.
3WR1TE formation shown here with extra positions added to reflect heavier package and reflection on defense. These positions will cover ~85% of snaps in the NFL.
Assumptions: Anderson plays a lot of slot, Chuba is RB2, Christensen wins a starting gig (his competition is greg little lol) and boat sized kid from alabama won't start quite yet.
On defense we see Pride out wide, kicking Jackson to nickel in 3WR packages (half of Snow's snaps) and probably CB2 on 2WR sets. Horn gets thrown into the fire. LB additions kick Chinn back to safety full time as the position is trash and having him and Reddick on the field at the same time is awesome.
Overall weaknesses: CB2, FS, LT, QB
Are we done in free agency? I'd love to see us add a safety and a corner. Ride or die on the ginger cringer. Maybe grab a veteran cut at tackle out of camp.
Overall I think this is the best team (outside QB) we've fielded at the beginning of a season since 2017. Given the question mark at QB I'll take it.
Think David Moore will start WR3 but Marshall will have it before the end of the season. I think Pride would play nickel before Jackson. He would be good but Pride would struggle on the sidelines. Also think Elfein is more of a back up center/back up guard don’t think he’s gonna hold a starting spot.

Told myself I wasn’t gonna build a depth chart this early but I can’t help myself!
QB: Darnold, Walker, Grier
RB: McCaffrey, Hubbard, Smith
FB: None
TE: Arnold, Tremble, Thomas
WR: Moore, Moore, Smith
WR: Anderson, Marshall, Zylstra
LT: Erving, Christensen
LG: Daley, Little
C Paradis, Eflein
RG: Miller, D.Brown
RT:Moton, Scott
DE: Burns, Fox
DT: Brown, Nixon
DT: Jones, Roy
DE: Gross-Matos, Haynes
OLB: Reddick, Luvu
MLB:Perryman, Carter, Johnston
OLB: S. Thompson, Orr
CB: Horne, Bouye, Melvin
CB: Jackson, Pride, Taylor
FS: Burris, Hartsfield
SS: Chinn, Franklin
K: Slye
P: Charleton
LS: Jansen

Being able to use Tremble as our FB/H-Back would be huge. Gives us another slot on the roster, basically.
Yeah kinda what I’m hoping for.

Rhule's guy: PJ Walker, it shows how much confidence he has in PJ really, think about it, who's more likely to start if Sam bombs or gets hurt.
PJ Walker by season's end
But also would have lost to the lions if not for the defense pitching a shut out. Still threw 2 picks. Then got called in at the end of the season and threw like 3 picks in one half. He’s a pet.
I really hope Rhule isn’t worse than Rivera with his pets.
Would like to see if Grier has matured or go get an actual back up QB. Ya know, since Erving is gonna be the LT this year.

It worries me that Grier couldn’t get past TB on the depth chart and we traded him away. That doesn’t make me feel all warm and fuzzy about our back ups.
I don’t want to beat the Will Grier drum but I’m going to for a second. I think he fits Joe Brady’s scheme better than PJ Walker does.
1. The coaching he got as a rookie with Rivera here was garbage
2. Fewell threw him to the wolves and he got sacked so much he barely played 6 quarters before he got hurt.
3.He didn’t get to spend the offseason with Brady and the new staff.
Given time with Brady and Sean Ryan this offseason, he could become a solid back up and pass PJ on the depth chart.
Not calling him a MVP or even a starter but safe back up.

Barring that we don’t trade Anderson or Moore. If we carry 6 WR the room will likely be:
1. Moore
2. Anderson
3. Moore
4. Marshall
5. Smith
6. Zylstra
OR
1. Moore
2. Anderson
3. Moore
4. Marshall
5. Smith
6. Bayless
Zylstra has size, experience and kills it on special teams.
Bayless was UDFA pick up last year who blew it up in college but missed the season with an injury.

From the twitter app
Sam Darnold's 2020 vs 2021
2020:
Adam Gase
RB Frank Gore
WR Jamison Crowder
WR Braxton Berrios
WR Breshad Perriman
2021:
Joe Brady
RB Christian McCaffrey
WR D.J. Moore
WR Robby Anderson
WR Terrace Marshall Jr.
Damn.
That’s not even counting O-Line and TE

Panthers think Sam Franklin will be a legit option this year at safety.
Yeah but his skill set is SS. Chinn could probably play FS but it’s not his niche. Burris can do it, but I don’t think it’s ideal. Hartsfield and Robinson is all that’s behind him.
Malik Hooker is still a FA

Not many.
I say 5 or 6. Cannon, Smith or Bonnafon is gonna get cut with us drafting Hubbard.
2 of Walker, Stevens, Grier will likely make it. Probably will pick up another camp arm soon.
CB will be interesting. Thomas-Oliver or Melvin likely odd man out.
best chance to make the team is through linebacker or guard.

Stokke will beat out Mikey Daniel at FB. (If we keep one and don’t just use Tremble). Moore has a shot but likely Practice Squad. Fisher has a better shot than Moore would probably have to beat out Orr or Johnston for one of the lower depth roles.
Charleton has 2 years left on his contract.

Huge fan of Reddick but the reason why he struggled until last year was bc they played him as an OLB. His true position is DE.
I thought he was an ILB and they switched him to OLB in a 3-4

FS, LB and C are the only things we didn't address.
WR - Completely shored up
CB - Huge injection of talent
RB - Awesome guy to mix in with CMC
OG - Two guys with a lot of potential
OT - One of the best blocking LTs in the country. But comes with question marks
DT - Potentially a new starter next to Brown
QB is still a question mark. Can Brady turn Sam into a good QB?
I think Fox is going to be used a lot in the DT rotation. After that you have Jones, Roy, Nixon which is 5. We will also use some 3 man fronts. Wouldn’t worry about DT.
Eflein can play center and we still have Tecklenburg (Not confident)
LB will be Perryman/Thompson/Carter or Reddick depending on the situation. Could use some more depth though.
FS will be interesting cause Burris will likely be the starter. Then you have Robinson and one of the team pets (Hartsfield) behind him. Franklin will likely back up Chinn as SS.

QB, free safety and a true OLB. Need to upgrade Carter.
Reddick will play a lot on the outside. I think he will switch out with Carter on pass-rush downs.

I’ll be honest and say I haven’t been following the draft that long in as much detail as now. Didn’t join here until 2016 and was way more of a FF draft follower before then, i.e. cared way more about the top skill positions and where they went than OL, DL, late round picks etc.
Things I got right over the last 20 years:
Seifert being a joke, Weinke a bust, I believed in Luke, I knew Delhomme was done 2 years before they let him go, and I knew Benjamin would be a bust, same about Butler.
However I was wrong about:
I really thought Moore was going to be the guy in 2010, I didn’t like the Stewart pick in 08, thought Fox should have stayed 1 more year, thought Jake was gonna be the same as Peete in 03 and us draft a QB in 04.

How about another depth guy and then a Kicker in the 7th like what we did with Harrison Butker before we got stupid?

Does Fitterer know quality is more important than quantity?
It’s like he thinks who drafts the most people wins.
Fitterer: I got 16 people
Fanbase: There’s no starting safety or LT
