I feel like Dan Arnold has so much to gain this season.

The guy can flat out move for his size and given the speed and weapons we have elsewhere... he may benefit a ton from being forgotten about

especially early in the year. Teams will not have a plan for him because no one's had to worry about us having a quality pass catcher at the TE spot since Olsen's last healthy season.

Does anyone think we might use Tommy stephens like taysom hill.  If not, I don't know that he can make the 53.  I would root for him though.

I'm not sure if Stevens will make the team either. Brady didn't have him to start the season with last year, so it'll be interesting if they scheme something up for him or not. If not he best find a way to contribute on special teams or he will be gone, unless he can beat out Walker/Grier for a backup spot.

Y’all think Hubbard automatically goes to CMC’s backup?

I think barring some injury or unforeseen off-the -field issue he will be. Its obvious he is well liked by Rhule. If he learns the offense and performs decently he will be the #2, I believe. I have always liked Bonnafon. He always seems to show out in spot duty, but for whatever reason he seems an afterthought. I think Smith will be #3, unless Cannon beats him out due to special teams play.

  4. The Camp Battles along the offensive line are going to be something to watch. I am interested in the Rookies and Erving and Elf. The situations with Erving and Elf remind me of Sam Darnold. It seems Rhule likes bringing in guys with something to prove. These Guys were 1st round picks and are good athletes that didn't get it done (for whatever reason) their last stops. They were rated super low last year (like Darnold), but have high ceilings. It will be interesting if they live up to their potential. There's more than one attempted turn around going on in Carolina.

  5. The Peyton Ramsey kid will not be our back up. He is a tryout player. If he comes in and BALLS OUT- he might get another look in camp as a UDFA. If he BALLS OUT again, he might make the practice squad. Right Now they are bringing him him because he's got an arm, he is a rookie, he has played QB. They need someone to play QB in the Rookie Camp in case Grier, or Walker can't come in for whatever reason (they aren't Rookies anymore an can't be forced to come). They may want to come to prove they are team guys and get some reps but we will see....

  6. Offense (backups rotation):

    QB- Sammy D. (Walker/Grier)

RB- Cmac (Hubbard, Clark, Smith)(Tremble will play FB sometimes)

WR's DJ, Terrence M., Robbie, they will line up all over the place including at Nickel (Shi Smith, O. Bayless, K. Kirkwood)

TE- Arnold (Tremble, Thomas) *I actually wouldn't be surprised if we cut Thomas and keep another TE such as S. Sullivan.

    C- Paradis (Elf)

    RG- John MIller

    LG- Elf

    RT- Tmo

LT- Trent Scott/ Brady Christenson/ or Cam Erving  (I'm really not sure these guys and Greg Little will battle it out in Camp-I think Little loses out and is cut but who knows..the others are retained for depth- if Scott doesn't win the camp battle we might be cut too.)

OL Depth (D. Brown, David Moore, Daley, Cam Erving, Trent Scott*, Brady C.)

    Defense (backups rotation): 4-3 package

    DE- Burns (Larken, Haynes, MIller)

    DT- Brown (Nixon, Hoskins)

DT- N. Jones (Roy, Nixon, Hoskins)

    DE- Yetur (Larken, Haynes, Miller)

    LB- Carter (Luvu)

    MLB- Perryman (Carter)

    LB- Shaq (Carter, Luvu)

CB- D-Jack (Bouye, Melvin, Taylor, Pride)

CB- Horn (Bouye, Melvin, Taylor, Pride)

FS- Hartsfield (Burris if he isn't cut/Robinson) *I worry we don't have this guy on the roster yet

    SS- Chinn (Burris, Franklin, Hartsfield)

NB (in even fronts) Troy Pride (J. Chinn, S. Franklin)

    Defense (backups rotation): 3-4 package

    DE- Fox (Nixon, Larkin)

    NT-Brown (Nixon, Jones)

    DE- Yetur (Nixon, Larkin)

    OLB- Burns (Haynes, Miller)

    ILB- Carter (Luvu, Perryman)

    ILB- Shaq (Luvu, Perryman)

    OLB- Reddick (Haynes, Miller)

CB- D-Jack (Bouye, Melvin, Taylor, Pride)

CB- Horn (Bouye, Melvin, Taylor, Pride)

FS- Hartsfield (Burris if he isn't cut/Robinson) *I worry we don't have this guy on the roster yet

    SS- Chinn (Burris, Franklin, Hartsfield)

NB- (in odd fronts) Chin (Troy Pride, Hartsfield, S. Franklin)

    Special Teams

    K- M. Amendola

    P- J. Charleton

LS- JJ Jansen (or maybe the Kid they drafted-Fletcher--I think he'll go practice squad...but...who knows)

  7. So Ramsey has been invited to be part of our Rookie- Mini Camp, but isn't under contract. He is a QB from Northwestern and will have a chance to work out with our rookies and other invitees. It makes sense because we will need a QB or two during that camp. Probably won't make the team but if he shows out--you never know!

  8. Joe and Rhule have had a chance to talk things over with Sam. They at least have an idea about how he fits and what he is capable of doing. If they had strong worries about his ability to run their system, We'd have Fields instead of Jaycee as our #1 pick right now. I hope they are right. I hope he can lern to make better decision. I really think what will help him the most might not be playing behind an improved line which we are all hoping he see's but A good defense and great running game. If he fails next year it won't be because the Jets Suck...and we will really know if he is a Bust or not.

  9. Quote

agree with most of that except the pocket awareness. he does a solid job of moving around and feeling pressure in the pocket imo.

what hurts sam is his decision making. it's brutally bad.

joe brady has his work cut out for him.

I wonder how much the can be done. More talent, more time, and better coaching can probably work wonders. I think it will come down to how much they change the offense to help him be successful. Rhule and Brady say its about making the scheme fit the players. Hopefully they can figure that out with Sam better than they did with Teddy- and Sam will be able to succeed.

Can't understand rolling into the season with Slye as your only option at K though. That seems like a bad idea.

We brought in a kid already (Matt Amendola) to give Slye some competition From what I have seen.read.heard he doesnt have the leg cannon Slye does but he is more accurate. We will see. I also wouldn't be surprised if we brought in a guy who went undrafted.

We should pick David Moore or Trey Smith with one of our last two picks. For the record, I loved that Keith Taylor and have no idea why people are complaining about him.

I agree, especially about Moore and Smith....we need more Beef up front (although Deonte helps a lot)
