  1. Sean Payton is kind of Petty (Remember drafting Tommy Stevenson in the 7th last year cuz we wanted him as a UDFA). He would love to move up and make sure we miss out on Fields or being able to trade back and gain picks. Especially if he gains a franchise QB. Imagine Fields sitting while Winston throws his 4th Int before halftime of the season opener. Payton would walk over and say, "so that's what not to do in that situation!"

What a learning experience for a young QB.

Why wouldn't Green Bay just go ahead and trade him, they have Jordan Love.

I don't want to give up anything for him. Too old.

Aaron Rodgers in Joe Brady's offense with Cmac and our receivers (+ a TE who might catch a few passes). WoW! I think that would really speed up the rebuild! He shouldn't cost as much as Watson because of his age, but if he can give us as many years as we give up 1st round picks. I'd be happy I think.

  3. The way Fit signed Micah Parsons and Darius Clark, leads me to believe he will bring in a lot of UDFA's also. They seem to be all about finding developmental talent anywhere they can!

    I mean Micah Simon (Thanks)

  4. The overall, general mistake the panthers made was the huge contract they gave Teddy, not signing him in the first place. It was obvious Rhule, Brady, and Tepper did not want to keep Cam, with his injury concerns. I hoped they'd give him a chance because their weren't any other solid options that I remember (especially not on the roster), but they cut bait.

Enter Teddy who was 5-0 with the saints in relief of Drew (and who didn't throw 30 Interceptions like JW, and wasn't old like AD or Fitz). Teddy who everyone says works hard and is a real competitor. A guy that Joe Brady (a rookie OC) had experience with. A former #1 pick and a guy who had lost a starting gig due to a horrible injury and had battled back to be in position to possibly take over for Bree's after he retired.

Imagine if we'd have kept Cam and brought in Teddy as a backup and insurance at a Greatly reduced contract, or if we signed Teddy to a One year prove it deal- with an option for an extension if he was indeed proving it after mid season.

Hindsight is amazing. Hopefully its something our current FO can also learn from.

Although maybe we're targeting a starting LG in R2.

We could have a new legion of boom in Surtain-Jackson-Bouye-Burris-Chinn

And then a brand spanking new Leatherwood at LG.

Not "Legion of Boom" , but maybe a new Thieves Ave. If we get a CB (Surtain/Horn) in the 1st and a true FS (Grant/Holland) in the 2nd or 3rd (I don't think we should use Burris except maybe as a rotational piece).

Remember there's a buzz about Grant in R2. If we go defense in R'a 1 and 2? Talk about pissing people off, Snow would love it, but Joe B. (and lots of fans), maybe not so much!

  6. If I was a Jets fan I probably wouldn't have much faith in Sam either. I don't think I'd be able to make a post without taking a shot at Adam Gase either. It'd be like some of us making a post discussing Panther History without taking a shot at Marty!

  7. Former Steelers OT Alejandro Villaneuva is still unsigned. There are reports that he is in talks with the Ravens, but the Ravens want to wait to sign him til after the draft for a variety of reasons including Cap Space and cheating the Steelers out of a Comp Pick.

Should we call him now and try to make a deal right before the draft? We have Cap Room and he would really fill a need (LT) being a definite upgrade on what we already have on the roster. PFF Grade of 74 last year. $Only 4 penalties and 3 sacks in nearly 1100 snaps. No doubt we could go BPA with him on Board. What Do You Guys Think?

Hindsight is always 20/20 but fair to say it was a terrible decision.

Signing Teddy in the first place and how he performed was a bad deal. The trade to Denver is a good deal. We have paid Teddy way to much for how he performed.

I hope he does well in Denver and wish him the best but I am glad he is gone.

Wait, we are eating 17 million in dead cap instead of 10 for a 6th round pick. Umm, I'm glad he is gone but that's a bit dumb.

I don't think we could have gotten away with eating only 10 m. If we cut him, we'd eat 20m or 15m this year depending on when. We could also wind up eating a little bit more dead cap next year, if we cut him after June.

The 6th round pick isn't much, but pair that with the little bit of cap savings we get this way IMO its the best move.

This changes my opinion of drafting Fields or Lance.   When we had Teddy I felt that he would be a viable backup for Darnold.  If we move down I believe we will address the QB spot with or 2nd or 3rd pick.

Maybe, I still Think its possible we grab Fields if by some Miracle he is there at 8. He sits behind Darnold (we do not pick up the 5th yr option), but learns the offensive and prepares to start in 2022 (unless something happens to Darnold).

If Fields isn't there then I bet we do grab Mond or someone else in the middle rounds.

  11. I have seen so many Reports pointing to Tepper being behind our interest in D-Watson. Its obvious Rhule was not happy with Teddy at the end of last year. Fit is new here, probably wants his own guy. I think its fair to assume everyone in the FO wants a new QB to build around. The question is do those guys agree on who it will be (Darnold, Fields, Lance, or Jones?) I would love to know how those conversations have gone down.

I just read ATL is trading with the Niners to get Pick 3 and select Pitts.

This would really be surprising. Atl does not need to trade down 1 spot to get Pitts. He will be there at 4. Did the 49's trade down to 3 to get Pitts rather than a QB(I don't think so). If they did they wouldn't give him away to Atl after trading down to get him.

Seems unlikely, but cazy stuff does happen--Did Hurney go to Atl?
