Ghost didn’t make us worse, Pulju appears to have. Losing Svech made us significantly worse. He’s not just one guy, he’s one of our main guys and his hits mattered and his goals mattered and his assist mattered a lot.

Seems to me the teams know we make a lot of shots from out on the blue lines and therefore send 2 guys out right in front of the net to block shots. Along with one of the canes that’s 3 bodies in front of the net, how can you get a puck through all that?

1st period Canes have 10 SOG and Detroit has 10 blocks, that means half of our shot attempts were blocked.

What do you have to do to get all those bodies off the net, shove them off right???

Maybe if we all chip in and friggin buy a goal?

This is frustrating to watch.

lol I won’t argue with that. It’s like leadership was counting on Svech as that goal scorer, not even considering he or Aho or anyone else would have an injury. Absolutely no insurance added with a top scorer. I think they just didn’t want to pay the price.

To add to the above, we’re 2nd in the league in GA/GP at 2.59 avg. So it’s not defense or goalie play that we need a boost in to win, it’s Canes putting goals in the net. 

Hurricanes are ranked 15th in GF/GP, basically middle of the pack. Canes are 42-4-5 when scoring 3 goals or more. It’s not goalie play keeping us from winning more games, it’s putting pucks in the net. Score three or more for almost all of the remaining games demonstrates Canes have turned it around and have a real chance  of winning the Stanley Cup. Otherwise it’s gonna end early in the playoffs.

You know things aren’t looking good when we have to start analyzing and hoping the teams behind us lose. Truth is we have to start winning every game left with rare exceptions to be a team that can win the Stanley Cup.

Correction, if Rags win they would be tied in points with the Devils but 1 win behind.

Rangers on a decent run, they were 9 points behind Canes, then 7, now just 5. If they beat the Devils then they’re just 3 points behind. They would be tied with the Devils in wins and points, two teams nipping at our heels. I hate the Rags so mixed emotions lol.

We just need to win win win and keep both behind us or we could end up in 3rd place. Losing tonight would be moving in the wrong direction.

We got out hit by TB 28-14, heavy hits take a lot out of a player. This is where we’re really missing Svech!
