Is he still scheduled to sit with us tomorrow? I want to see what the real demands are and not all of these reports.
That kind of information almost never becomes public. We didn't even know the true dynamic between Fitts and Rhule for a long time.

Steichen versus DeMeco Ryans next week should be interesting.

McCarty lookin for job after this is my bet

If he does, that's where Payton is going.

He just played through the injury yesterday. Just assuming the Bengals go there and definitely win is silly
Romo was talking about it during the Bills game. He had a high ankle sprain.
He said you can play on it the day of, but Mahomes will be almost on crutches by Wednesday. He expects Mahomes will give it a go but won't have his normal athleticism.

Ok I predict a Super Bowl 23 rematch. 49ers Bengals
Please let it be the year where Collinsworth has to call that game.

"They need slants and screens. Quick stuff"
Romo basically saying 'what are calling Dorsey?'

Davis has to catch that ...

Uh-oh.

You gotta be able to go score for score with this level of quarterback play.

Mike Florio and Charean Williams debate whether or not it would be a good fit for all involved parties.
Summary:
- No lose situation for Payton if he goes to Denver. If Russell doesn't look better next year, it's because Russ can't be fixed, not because Payton failed.
- Indy doesn't want him. Cardinals seem less likely after hiring GM. Down to Houston, Denver, or Carolina. They don't even discuss Houston much.
- Payton has leverage. Can always go back to New Orleans and make it very awkward for them. New Orleans will make it work to get him to a new team.
- Payton has incentive to return to coaching this year. He's going to make 20-25 million. Money he'll never see if he holds out.
- Best spot for Payton is Carolina. Payton/Carolina would dominate the division "for years to come" with Payton.
- Payton has said publicly no QB in place is not a problem. New Orleans had no QB when Payton took the job. They tried to get Romo, and settled for Brees after the Dolphins rejected him. He was competitive with Jameis Winston and Ian Book.
These are not my thoughts or opinions. I am only summarizing the video for those who may not have time to watch it.

I'm not a fan of us trading for Lance, but this puts some idea on his perceived value, at least with the people Silver spoke to.

I don’t agree with this decision at all but lately it seems like the soccer team has become a higher priority to Tepper than the Panthers.
Always has been.

It really sounds like Payton will go to Denver.
This isn't Pelissaro saying "I'm hearing it's Denver." He's basically doing a process of elimination of available jobs.
Cardinals - out because they already hired a GM
Texans - out because of Nick Caserio.
Panthers - out because the trade will cost too much
Broncos - only one left. Pelisaro feels Broncos ownership will be more willing to part with the picks for the trade.
[edit to say I'm not stumping for Payton or anything, I just don't think this report by Pelissaro supports the conclusion "it's going to be Denver."]

I thought I heard that Michigan had parted ways with their OC. If so, it's possible he could rejoin him there.
I had not considered that angle. After doing a little Googling, it looks like Michigan has co-Offensive Coeditors: Sherrone Moore and Matt Weiss, but Matt Weiss was put on Administrative Leave two days ago because of a "report of computer access crimes" and "fraudulent activity involving someone accessing university emails accounts without authorization."

Big news out of Baltimore...
I wonder if Harbaugh would have gone back to Michigan if he had known Roman would be available. Roman was his OC in his 49ers run.

Saints do have a lot to lose if they are asking too much, Payton would just sit out next season and then be free of his contract and NO wouldn't get any compensation.
What I haven't seen anyone talking about is another option. Payton goes back to New Orleans and says he's ready to resume his contractual duties as head football coach. I don't think Loomis wants that.

Other inside sources have said the same.
Almost makes it sound like Payton was interviewing the Texans owner and not the other way around...

Dorsey worries me more than any other candidate right now. He's basically running Daboll's system with Josh Allen.

Doug Pederson or Mike Vrabel
Who is the better coach? Who do you prefer to lead your team?
Mike Vrabel has coached 5 years and averages right at 10 wins per season. No trophies to show for it.
Doug Pederson, if you exclude the year he won the Super Bowl, is just under .500 in win % and averaged ~8 wins over 5 years.
Pederson.

I do find it odd that we have seen 2 young coordinators pass on a NFL HC opportunity here. Think that says a lot.
To be fair, Johnson didn't just pass on us, he passed on the other teams he had already interviewed with as well.

If we hire Sean are you still a Panthers fan?
I said it before, and I'll say it again, the only thing that could make me turn in my Panthers fan card is if they move out of the Carolinas. I'm a Carolina Panthers fan. Not a Frankfurt Panthers fan.

Why would the Saints allow their 'ex-admired, Super Bowl coach' go to a division rival?
In one of the other threads, someone insinuated Payton didn't along with the son who inherited the team and wanted out. Could be nothing more than a Huddle rumor.

Keep Brady out of Charlotte. He’s pretty cooked and honestly not sure he’s even an upgrade from Darnold at 46
You're being facetious, right? The guy's arm looked fine on those bombs to Evans in our game and he just had 60+ attempts in their playoff game. Physically, he looks like he can still do it. It's all about if he wants to mentally.
