  1. He's going to get a lot of penalties in the NFL if he tries to pull the poo he did during Senior Bowl week. He kind of reminds me of Garrett Bolles in Denver - just really aggressive to a fault. I'd much rather have the top 3. Charles Cross from Miss. State  is growing on me as someone who I'd feel comfortable if we pick him at 6.

  2. I put my hands up in disbelief that we picked a linebacker in 2012. We had TD and Beason, there was no reason for us to pick Luke how-do-you-pronounce-his-name? We've spent a first rounder 3 times within the last decade. We just got off a rough season, but Cam showed promise winning OROY. Smitty was past his prime and we needed another weapon to help alleviate Smash & Dash. Drew Brees was lighting us and everyone else up that year and we had to keep up surely. Again, how do you pronounce this dude's name?

Man, was I just oblivious that we selected hands down a truly generational player. Luke was and still is a different breed. I may have cried a bit when I was out to dinner and saw across the screen that Luke retired. fug.. Anyways that's my rant.

This is assuming you can’t trade back. Honestly, I don’t think most teams would be willing to offer what’s needed to trade up to 6 with those guys off the board

I agree that Thibs isn’t a bad choice at 6. If we get screwed in that 2nd scenario I’d prefer Travon Walker. I think he’d have a bigger impact than Sauce year 1/2.

  4. Everyone is looking to trade back. There are no elite QBs and the top two rated players at tackle/edge/corner are all debatable, so teams feel as if they can get a playmaker and another pick.

I don’t see anyone worthy of trading up. Everyone (except us of course) is seemingly set at QB.

  5. All we’ve heard about the QBs up until their pro days is that none of them have first round grades and they should all sit at least a year before they get meaningful snaps. For that reason alone I prefer we either stick with The Darnold or get Baker/Garrapolo on a 1 year contract.

  6. This is a special time of the year that we can celebrate everyday, but especially today. Let’s take this time to remind ourselves that the Falcons blew a 28-3 lead over the Patriots.

  7. Here’s my issue with bringing Cam back: he is done. He’ll never be (as much as it pains me) what he was from 2013-2017. If he’s on the roster people will call for him to start even though we know he’s not it.

Now comes  Darnold. He’s not the answer?. But we might not be bad enough for pick 1 or 2 next year.

    6. Carolina Panthers

    Travon Walker, DE, Georgia

The Panthers have struck out in the quarterback trade market so far -- although Baker Mayfield and Jimmy Garoppolo are still available -- but they are clearly trying to upgrade over Sam Darnold. Could they take Malik Willis or Kenny Pickett here? It's possible. Coach Matt Rhule is on the hot seat, and this could be his attempt at a big splash for 2022. Still, if he wants to win now, he's probably better off trading for a veteran and staying away from a rookie signal-caller. Carolina could instead take a sizable edge rusher who is still growing into his 6-foot-5 frame.

Walker just keeps rising in the pre-draft process, as he starred at the Senior Bowl and tested extremely well at the combine. He didn't put up "wow" numbers in college -- he had six sacks for the national champs last season -- but that's because of how dominant the entire Georgia defense was around him. He could put up better numbers in the NFL, and he's stout against the run too.

If we're going to sign an offensive tackle in free agency, I actually agree with Kiper. Travon Walker may come out to be the best edge rusher in this draft and he will give us another book end defensive end across from Brian Burns. We're losing a lot of production with Reddick leaving for Philly and I don't think YGM is the long-term answer at DE. With Ickey and Neal potentially gone before pick #6, we need to choose the player that gives us the best potential for our future and it may possibly be Walker out of Georgia.

If he didn't go, we'd have people on this board bitching about Rhule not doing anything but sit in his office. He's gonna get poo on no matter what he does... But this was the right thing to do for Rhule.
