Virtual interviews we're being done with guys that were still in the playoffs. Johnson and the Lions were out so they could bring him in if they wanted.
The story fits in with what Johnson himself said last year though. People forget he turned down all head coaching interviews after his first one, not just us.
Pretty sure virtual interviews were being done with everyone.
They didn’t bring anyone physically in until the 2nd interview

Johnson never interviewed with us, but he did interview with another team before us. May have been that his interview with that team went badly.
It's a plausible story.
Did he not have a first Skype interview? Pretty sure he did. Just didn’t get on the plane to come for the 2nd interview. Which Smitty alluded to

Anyone catch what Smitty said about the Ben Johnson situation last year
First time I’ve heard this
Smitty claims Ben Johnson didn’t necessarily turn down the Panthers the way people think. But said Johnson interviewed badly. Then felt he wasn’t ready to make the jump so turned down the 2nd in the interview -

This is all speculation built around the fact that everyone thinks Tepper will make "a splash hire" because he's rich and willing to pay anything to win.
I honestly don't see it happening.
Actually the first paragraph of that article. He made sure to note this isn’t a opinion based piece

There is just too much smoke to ignore
Dan Orlovsky said like last week he’s heard Bill already has another job lined up.
Diana Rusini saying watch out for Bill O’Brien here

Ryan said he had Young and Stroud as QB 1A and 1B. That's why he stayed at 2. If you have them similarly ranked you just stay put and keep the picks. I can post a link of Ryan saying this. Can you post one of him or his scouts saying "bryce ain't all that?"
Think of how big of a gamble that is because at the time Vegas (which you swear by) has Stroud as the favorite to go 1 to us? If someone changes Tepper's mind into liking Stroud then Houston would be left with the guy who "ain't all that."
The dam reporters covering the Texans said these last few weeks they would’ve taken Bryce if he was at their pick.
remember. You’re arguing with a guy who was convinced no team would take Bryce in the top 5 predraft-

so we are praising tepper and praising this front office. Not a good look man
Not Praising either.
They’ve fugged up things way deeper than just a QB draft pick.

I mean the internet is time stamped. Just google "2023 QB draft class" and see where most of these "experts" have them ranked. The narrative is changing to Young being forced on us but there is a ton of hindsight behind that view because of how well Stroud is doing vs Young. At the time it was no big deal and almost expected when we drafted Young.
And the same with this board. The ones who can’t wrap their head around the reports. Were the same ones who never thought Bryce should be a top 10 pick, 1st rd pick. No QB his size will be picked that high. Takes

Man I couldnt possibly imagine being a shill for tepper at this point but here we are with some posters. Dude is the worst owner in north american sports and he still has defenders. fuging crazy
I can’t find anyone defending Tepper. He’s a dumbazz
what I can find is black and white concrete reports that state otherwise from your crazy spin takes.
Including you specifically pointing out this podcast at the 25:30 where he Point Blank Black and white tells you multiple times
”Everyone in that building wanted Bryce”
”I get the txt about the rumors everyday. But everyone on that building wanted Bryce”
But I can’t expect anything different from a small minded individual (no pun intended). Who got so irate at Verge when she told you Bryce was going top 3 because you physically could wrap your head around that fact. All the way to the point I believe you had to go to timeout.

tepper went off script and put his fat foot in his fat mouth
but yeah as ncfan wants you to believe that everyone in the building, everyone, had bryce as their #1
Not what I want to believe
What Jonathan Jones
What Ian Rapaport
What Josh Norris
what many other want you to believe.
Not what MrIncomplete who never thought Bryce would go top 3-5 wants you to believe

if you think its a wild conspiracy that tepper has meddled in the past and meddled in the draft when this motherfuger and his wife were at pro days then I am not sure what to tell you
just put me on ignore because I cannot argue on this simplistic level
you like tep I get it
If you don’t think this staff liked Bryce. You know the guy that you claimed wouldn’t go top 3-5 pre draft while every major analyst claimed was the consensus QB1 across the league (before you jumped well ___ had him QB on THEIR big board)
then I don’t know what to tell you. And you just prove my point that if Reich and McCown told you here in a month they had Bryce QB1. You still couldn’t accept it.

we laid it out to you in elementary terms, its not my fault you dont understand it
Dawg
Everyone has put it black and white for you
and you can’t seem to accept it (which is understandable with your pea brain takes pre draft) so your coming up with some wild conspiracies. Just because Teppers past.
-
Josh McCown could go on Josh Norris podcast and tell you how much he loved Bryce and wanted him over Stroud
Frank could come on and do an interview with @Zodsaying “I wanted Bryce. I never thought we could get to 1 so I like Stroud too”
and MrIncomplete would be all over here Chuck style spamming telling people they’re being held hostage with a gun to their head and their capping.

Think of it like this, if you knew you had a boss that was a vindictive control freak that fires people at the drop of a hat and you were scouting qbs and said owner let it be known who he liked the best are you really going to challenge on that or are you going to fall in line? I think that is where you get the "unanimous" comment. There is no way that human nature allows everyone in that building all thought young was the best pick and nobody thought stroud or AR was better. Thats just not how things work. And by him admitting that its A)a telling about his "process and B) he is admitting the scouting dept fuging sucks ass.
Having all that aside and knowing the things to date that tepper has meddled in one would have to be a fool to think that tepper wasnt having the final say.
Listen to the OG podcast that just came out and Jon Jones lays this out.
You taking about this at the 25:30 mark
”Everyone in that building wanted Bryce. Their may have been 1 person who didn’t have voting power.”
”Did David Tepper also think it was Bryce? Could that impact a decision in someway. Sure I’m not going to discount that.”
”when Josh McCown is at CJ’s pro day and says we’ll see you in Carolina in a couple months. That’s what coaches do with these young guys they say those things. And I’m sure he liked CJ Stroud. Maybe Josh is the guy who liked CJ, but that isn’t proof (though that seems to be most people proof on here) that he said some encouraging words after a nice audition”
”I get get the txt about the rumors every day. But what I can tell you back in April and in May and in June before CJ Stroud was going to be Offensive rookie of the year. That Everyone in that building Wanted Bryce Young.”
Now go ahead and spin his physical quote as you will.
i know it’s hard for your small brain to wrap around. And I know how you feel about this as you attacked Verge for even bringing up that her sources said Bryce was going number 1. While you were convinced there was Zero percent chance a QB his size would go top 3-5 in the draft.

Wrong. His specific statement was that Tepper was not the only one who wanted Bryce.
That very statement includes that Tepper wanted Bryce. He just wasn't alone in it. Then you put that together with his confirmation that Tepper did indeed chime in on the decision.
Outside of that, there aren't any more specifics.
You’re literally repeating what I just said. Re worded it to make yourself feel better?
yes Tepper seemed to like Bryce. Yes Other did too.

It wasn't some shocking overreach that Young went 1. Most places had him as the top QB and yes they were wrong, but the narrative is taking a crazy turn. Tepper didn't make us reach for some random QB while everyone else wanted Stroud. The only reason Stroud was the leader at first is because of his style of play and Reich's style of offense. People had concerns about Stroud under pressure which has been proven to be a nonissue so far.
Which was asinine to begin with considering he was going to run a completely different offense than he ran in Indy. With all these minds, backgrounds and coming from different coaching trees.
When Thomas Brown and Miles Sanders hinted and said it’d look more like Philly’s offense. Shotgun heavy, 11 personnel. A lot like like McVay too. Quite the difference than what Reich ran with heavy 12 man personnel with a heavy between the tackle run game. Really actually similar to what McAdoo was doing under Wilks. That should’ve triggered the “does he he Reich’s style” to start.
but people got so focused on a hand dap at a pro day. If they never showed our staff at the pro day. This would have never been a thing.

Just now, Mr. Scot said:
That line was actually just a rehash of what he said in his original tweet, not exactly earth shattering.
People were using the original tweet to try and suggest that Tepper wasn't involved. That's not at all what Norris said.
He was saying Tepper wasn’t The one who wanted Bryce.
hence him noting the recycling and regurgitated comment.
but that still seems go over a majority people’s heads because hey already have their mind set off some think/speculation piece
