It's over and we still have 4:17 to go. Up by 26 No way Boston comes back. Another top team going down to the Hornets.

Insane 8 players in double figures. What a team and what a bench. 23 Assists. This team is dangerous.

Making blanket statements about trading up or down are kinda meaningless in a vacuum.
Sonny Styles is a great prospect. IMO he probably goes top 5. We’d have to give up basically a whole draft worth of pics to get there for a line backer on a team that lacks talent and I wouldn’t love that. I doubt he falls past 7. But in the chance he does. I’d absolutely be thrilled to trade up for him. It just depends on the price
But tbh. I like CJ Allen. I think a guy like that could upgrade our LB room and defense overall. And I think someone falls.
maybe it’s Sadiq as weapon of a TE. Maybe it’s one of the top 3 WRs. Maybe Delane or McCoy fall
There’s going to be good football players where we’re at imo
I saw a mock by PFF I believe it was that said we would take Allen.

All you cap guys. Free agency is a week away. I haven't really heard much about how much money we save if we let certain players walk to open up some space for our desires in Free Agency.
Who do you cut and what will our available cap be like next week.

OK, we are letting our top RB go. We have Chuba, Etienne, and Brooks. Imagine a player who could LEGITIMATELY play the slot and back up at RB? I am sure he'd be a special team player as well. I noticed him at the combine, and thought, "Here is a late rounder who could stand out as a slot and provide depth at RB.
Without further ado....(I know one Huddler who might be able to tell us more about this guy):
Navy running back/wide receiverEli Heidenreich headlined the 2026 NFL Combine for the Midshipmen, running an official 4.44-second 40-yard dash and recording 16 reps on the bench press. Recognized as a versatile, "Swiss army knife" offensive weapon, Heidenreich solidified his draft stock as a potential day three target.Eli Heidenreich (RB/WR - Navy) 2026 Combine Performance:6'0" 200 lbs.- 40-Yard Dash: 4.44 seconds.
- 10-Yard Split: 1.55 seconds.
- Vertical Jump: 35.5 inches.
- Broad Jump: 10' 0".
- Bench Press: 16 Reps.
- Highlights: Showcased as a premier receiving threat from the backfield, having left Navy as the program's all-time leader in receiving yards (1,994).
High character. Smart. Maybe, just maybe....
As a Navy veteran and always pull for the Midshipmen. I had a chance to watch him in several games. Late round or UDFA. You latch onto this guy. He's definitely a Morgan type of guy.

Boston is a good team but the Hornets has shown that they can beat anyone. Home or on the road. They blew out OKC, SA and just about everyone on the schedule.
28-16 after starting 2-14. This team is fun to watch and if they win the NBA is going to have to start believing that this team could be very dangerous going into the playoffs regardless of what seed we end up with.

There was a big corner that shined in the combine that was over 6 foot. I don't recall the name, and I can't seem to find it, maybe one of you draft guru's will know his name. If you trade Horn this would be the player I would go after to replace him. They were saying that he would be the type of player the Seahawks would go after.
Personally I like the big corners.

Jordan Reid is pretty locked in and an expert that I trust more than others. Pretty sensible and logical with his thoughts, and the rumors he hears quite often, are not click bait.
I was intrigued by the buzz about the Panthers at the combine. Chubb? Thibodeaux? Hendrickson?
If Fano falls, run the card up. I don't care about arm length with the production and versatility as a LT or RT (see: Slater, Rashawn).
He then comes back with a rush LB though, which is odd given the first statement about preferring to address in FA/trade....
Only guy I'd look at based on the way the board fell here, is Wheatley. TBF, Thomas is probably more of a BPA over Wheatley. Hill, Jr. goes 46 and Rodriguez went 49th. This reminds me too much of the '23 draft when we thought our guy would be there and we settled for DJ.
I thought I saw where all the Tackles were projected to be right tackles in the NFL.
-
I agree, I think the cost to get him would be too high. My point is our 2026 schedule is going to be very tough to outperform 2025 and we'd be in a position to have a top 5 to 10 pick.

trade up? fug that noise. We need to be trading our ass back
I think that is a better idea especially since the LB group this year is pretty strong but the thought of us getting Styles is tempting. I would trade up for him ONLY if we don't have to give up a 1st next year.
-
I would love to see us move up and take Styles but IMO that would cost us s 2027 first round pick.
Our schedule next year is brutal. We will play every division winner and we were under .500. This is brutal and the possibility of having a top 5 pick is very possible. The bad season would almost certainly be because Young had a bad or mediocre season. Giving up a first-round pick would cost us the chance to get a replacement for Young.
Thoughts?

It would be cool, but I thought our best shot was 2020 when we hit our 25th season and should have played Jacksonville.

He had a great combine and he'll get drafted. I would grab him if he's available in round 4 or later. If Canales is the QB whisperer that they say he is, he could get him in a position to compete with Young.

This is what I was thinking. Grab a good edge in FA and our defense will greatly improve.

I think we should just play the waiting game and see who is released. There are going to be some good WRs released. I am reluctant to give up any draft picks though a 5th rounder isn't too bad.

Colts, Panthers urged to make WR swap trade to impact Daniel Jones, Bryce Young
Would definitely help our WR room. Not sure if we want to take on the 20m salary. Plus if they are desperate for cap relief, they might end up cutting him.
-
His speed is undeniable but he seems to be a cancer in the locker room and I am not sure we'd want something like that. He would definitely be a piece we are missing in the WR room.

They tried. KB and FunFun were thoroughbreds. KB took over that national championship game with Jameis at QB. Up until spring training of 2015, KB was him. He wasn't Steve Smith, but he was who we drafted him to be. And then, he hate the guy he was supposed to be.
Gettleman was relying on a rookie. KB had talent but he didn't have the work ethic. He ballooned his way right out of the league because he didn't take care of himself. Funchess was never EVER going to be that guy. if you let your all world WR go you have to bring someone in that could have replaced him TALENT wise.
-
Whether it was Smitty or Cam, Gettleman should have kept Smitty on the roster and play out his contract. I think the 2015 team with Smitty on it would have probably gone undefeated and we would have won our 2nd Super Bowl visit.
Worse than letting him go was he never address bringing in a Stud veteran WR.

But I really have missed having good LB play. That is my guilty pleasure pick all day.
This IMO should be our #1 pick. Every time we have had a STUD at ILB we've gone to the NFC Championship or the Super Bowl. Mills, Morgan and Luke.
My only concern is that EVero, for whatever reason, doesn't like starting rookies. I would hope that a 1st round defender would start.

This would be nice. It addresses most of our needs. I think we will add Free Agents in each of the top three picks to allow these players the chance to get used to the NFL.

It's a shame he wasn't first ballot. There have been several great LBs to play this game but I don't believe there was anyone like Luke. His ability to diagnose plays before they happened was very unique to him. Almost every year when they posted the top 100 it was one thing every player said about him.
Great Honor for LLLUUUUUKKKKKEEEE

He's set to be a free agent. ESPN believes he'll get a 50 million dollar deal. I don't think we'll be in the market for his services, though I wish we were.
It will be interesting to see who gambles on him.

No. Morgan, Canales, and staff are not capable of reclamation projects.
Get a guy in here who knows how to play the position at a high level. We'd be the division favorites, and capable of competing with anyone in the playoffs.
Also, have to hit on first and second round picks, which we haven't done historically. Hopefully this is where we get our ILB and LT from.
I think you forget that Canales is what made Geno a commodity in Seattle in the first place. While I am not a great fan of Geno, I wouldn't be surprised to see him back up Young.
I would prefer Sam Howell because I believe he has the best opportunity to become a starter of all the free agents out there minus Cousins.

2026 Charlotte Hornets
in Charlotte Hornets

29 point ass whooping in the Boston Garden. 10 players in double figures. ONLY 4 turnover.
Hornets can't be beat if they keep the turnovers down.
