If I moved out of the 1st I'd want a future 1st as part of the package.
I agree, if we are going to drop out of the first round this year, I'd like a 1st next year. It would put us in a pretty good position to get any player we wanted in 2027, especially if BY doesn't take the next step on this team.

I know he played very little due to an injury. He's a huge man and hopefully no injuries this coming season. He could really be a factor if he can get some good reps. We definitely need some depth at interior D-line.
Thoughts?

It could be Metchie, it could be Horn Jr, and even though I'm basically ready to move on, it very well could end up being XL too.
But that's why I don't really like the idea of a WR in the 1st, I think we can find a way to make that slot position work with what we have and/or another signing or mid round pick.
Drafting a WR in the 1st this year would be 3 years in a row while also hitting on an UDFA at the position in the same time frame, just a bad use of resources currently and sets you up for problems keeping them together as they all hit contract extensions at the same time frame.
I hope that Horn Jr. really takes off this year. A lot of learning his rookie season. Hopefully we can find a way to get him the ball in open spaces.

From what I have heard about him is that he had a better pass blocking grade while Icky had a better run blocking grade. IMO it is far easier to be a better run blocker than pass blocking. I also think he'll be fine with our Oline.

I love our last draft and hopefully some of them step up even more in 2026. I am looking forward to see how Cam Jackson improves. Seems he did ok in his limited time at the end of the season.

You might be right, but as you said I am sure Morgan is working hard on LT.

Well that's a kick in the balls. Better get Decker if he's still available.

No, he needs to earn his paycheck in the draft.
No matter how good you are in Free Agency, you can't be a sustainable and SB contending team without drafting well, and that goes beyond the 1st round.
Of course, you build through the draft, but you don't reach for players when you have most of you issues addressed in free agency.
When you go BPA, you should get quality players every time.

The first wave of free agency is about over. When we hit the 2nd week and beyond is where you sign quality veterans at a good price. If we could find a couple of these players, we will be able to be 100% BPA when the draft comes around.

Im pretty sure the staff are high on Brooks
I think everyone is but the fact that he's coming off two major injuries has got to be a concern. I don't think we want to put the backup burden on Ettienne just yet. If we could get him at a decent price for a backup/#2 RB role I would go for it.

Most of us do because he played for our most hated rival. I get it but if we sign him you need to get over it.

Maybe as a #1 back but a backup. I think would be good.

Carolina Panthers linked to Saints star Alvin Kamara after Rico Dowdle exodus
At the right price I would love it.

A lot of negativities about this signing. Everyone knows TMAC and Coker are our top receivers. Having someone you're familiar with is not a bad thing.
If he pans out, we have a good top three. It's not like we broke the bank to bring him here. Let's see what comes of it before we start assuming.

I'm not implying that we hang our hat on it. But didn't we sign a UDFA from a small school that had a chance to be a good Center. Seems to me we were talking about this guy early in preseason last year. I just can't recall his name.

I wish we would have traded Dalton first. Now it is most likely going to cost us a pick because teams will now just wait for us to release Dalton.

29 point ass whooping in the Boston Garden. 10 players in double figures. ONLY 4 turnover.
Hornets can't be beat if they keep the turnovers down.

Hornets reality check coming in about 58 minutes.
It's over and we still have 4:17 to go. Up by 26 No way Boston comes back. Another top team going down to the Hornets.

Insane 8 players in double figures. What a team and what a bench. 23 Assists. This team is dangerous.

Making blanket statements about trading up or down are kinda meaningless in a vacuum.
Sonny Styles is a great prospect. IMO he probably goes top 5. We’d have to give up basically a whole draft worth of pics to get there for a line backer on a team that lacks talent and I wouldn’t love that. I doubt he falls past 7. But in the chance he does. I’d absolutely be thrilled to trade up for him. It just depends on the price
But tbh. I like CJ Allen. I think a guy like that could upgrade our LB room and defense overall. And I think someone falls.
maybe it’s Sadiq as weapon of a TE. Maybe it’s one of the top 3 WRs. Maybe Delane or McCoy fall
There’s going to be good football players where we’re at imo
I saw a mock by PFF I believe it was that said we would take Allen.

All you cap guys. Free agency is a week away. I haven't really heard much about how much money we save if we let certain players walk to open up some space for our desires in Free Agency.
Who do you cut and what will our available cap be like next week.

OK, we are letting our top RB go. We have Chuba, Etienne, and Brooks. Imagine a player who could LEGITIMATELY play the slot and back up at RB? I am sure he'd be a special team player as well. I noticed him at the combine, and thought, "Here is a late rounder who could stand out as a slot and provide depth at RB.
Without further ado....(I know one Huddler who might be able to tell us more about this guy):
Navy running back/wide receiverEli Heidenreich headlined the 2026 NFL Combine for the Midshipmen, running an official 4.44-second 40-yard dash and recording 16 reps on the bench press. Recognized as a versatile, "Swiss army knife" offensive weapon, Heidenreich solidified his draft stock as a potential day three target.Eli Heidenreich (RB/WR - Navy) 2026 Combine Performance:6'0" 200 lbs.- 40-Yard Dash: 4.44 seconds.
- 10-Yard Split: 1.55 seconds.
- Vertical Jump: 35.5 inches.
- Broad Jump: 10' 0".
- Bench Press: 16 Reps.
- Highlights: Showcased as a premier receiving threat from the backfield, having left Navy as the program's all-time leader in receiving yards (1,994).
High character. Smart. Maybe, just maybe....
As a Navy veteran and always pull for the Midshipmen. I had a chance to watch him in several games. Late round or UDFA. You latch onto this guy. He's definitely a Morgan type of guy.

Boston is a good team but the Hornets has shown that they can beat anyone. Home or on the road. They blew out OKC, SA and just about everyone on the schedule.
28-16 after starting 2-14. This team is fun to watch and if they win the NBA is going to have to start believing that this team could be very dangerous going into the playoffs regardless of what seed we end up with.

There was a big corner that shined in the combine that was over 6 foot. I don't recall the name, and I can't seem to find it, maybe one of you draft guru's will know his name. If you trade Horn this would be the player I would go after to replace him. They were saying that he would be the type of player the Seahawks would go after.
Personally I like the big corners.

Jordan Reid is pretty locked in and an expert that I trust more than others. Pretty sensible and logical with his thoughts, and the rumors he hears quite often, are not click bait.
I was intrigued by the buzz about the Panthers at the combine. Chubb? Thibodeaux? Hendrickson?
If Fano falls, run the card up. I don't care about arm length with the production and versatility as a LT or RT (see: Slater, Rashawn).
He then comes back with a rush LB though, which is odd given the first statement about preferring to address in FA/trade....
Only guy I'd look at based on the way the board fell here, is Wheatley. TBF, Thomas is probably more of a BPA over Wheatley. Hill, Jr. goes 46 and Rodriguez went 49th. This reminds me too much of the '23 draft when we thought our guy would be there and we settled for DJ.
I thought I saw where all the Tackles were projected to be right tackles in the NFL.

I thought I saw someone said he played well in his limited action near the end of the season. It sure would help our depth.
