  1. We will have to beat the Cardinals to get any love, and then I wouldn't be surprised if they made excuses. If we beat the Cowboys they will chalk it up to injuries and blah blah blah. We beat the mess out of a Saints team that just destroyed the Packers and it was because of position coaches. Very few actual analysts will give us the respect we deserve. Yesterday I went to watch a video about us. The analyst said, "We got to talk about that Panther's defense. That Jameis Winston...." And then proceeded to talk about Winston the entire segment. If you want accurate content then watch the 4 Man Rush or PNP or some other YouTubers. These mainstream guys don't know our team, I'm surprised they know our mascot.

Last year's defense, as bad as it was, gave the offense enough opportunities to win a lot of games last season.  If they win half of those we would have been in the playoffs.  Just saying.

The biggest up grade in the offseason was at the qb position.  The offense will determine the Panthers fate once again but this time the defense is much stouter and may win a game or two on their own.

I don't know man, I'm not straight disagreeing with you. But this defense is not the same as last year. I fully agree the defense last year kept us in games. They performed at a much higher level than I expected. But our defense got A LOT better at 3rd down stops, QB pressure, and rush defense. It is on another level this year. We would have absolutely won more games last year with this defense, regardless of offensive change. If we are talking one position, I would totally agree QB was the biggest upgrade. Just based on the importance of the position alone the upgrade was huge. But that D as a whole is phenomenal. Like 30 yards for Kamara. Bro, we could have won with 3 field goals. lol!

ANALYSIS: "Should the Panthers be higher? Maybe. But I thought about the old tried-and-true "who would you pick to win on a neutral field?" method and I'm not ready to put them higher than this. That was obviously a very impressive performance against the Saints, but this is still a young team and I'm interested to see how it handles whatever speed bumps or growing pains pop up along the way."

    Very deep analysis.....

I think last year you saw us compete. I hope we win some of those games we lost last year. Its a long season this year and injuries no doubt will make us have to be next man up at times. I hope we can do like Sunday and keep rolling. Darnalds development will def play a big roll but he seems to be getting more comfortable and the league is taking notice.

I think we would have won half of the games we lost, if not more, if we would have had this defense last year. I honestly think they over-performed last year, at least from what I was expecting. If they keep this up, this is a Super Bowl defense. There is no question in that. Can the rest of the team fall in line? I don't know. But this defense is special. The offense has some issues, but not ones that I would deem unfixable. Questions still out on the o-line though. If they hold up, it's playoffs for sure. NFC West is loaded though, so it's not gonna be a 9 wins gets us a Wild Card. I'm thinking 11 wins are going to be necessary to beat the NFC West teams to a Wild Card.

The defense has to prove its capable of getting off the field on 3rd down with a higher percentage rate than last year. That was their Achilles heel.  That and stopping the run constantly will determine how they are ranked at seasons end.

So far they have shown improvement in both areas.

Improvement might be a slight understatement at this point. lol! They have basically reversed from the worst to best. But I agree, they have to keep that up. It is just week two and we have a long way until seasons end. Just refreshing to see that our staff seen the issues last year and made them a priority. Most of the major problems we had last year, they made a valiant effort to fix. O-line moves were a head scratcher, but all in all their decisions seem to have paid off. Even the TE Dan Arnold decision looks to be a good one after this week. Red zone issues will probably clear up the more they all start to gel (including coaches). Just have to keep getting comfortable in their roles.

  6. I think it will come down to how much time Mills has back there. He seemed to play okay when Taylor came out. If you give almost any QB enough time, they can burn you. I see the game plan looking eerily similar to the Saints game. If we can blanket Kamara, we can do it to pretty much any back in the league. If our pass coverage plays like they did against the Saints, this is an absolute W. No wins are absolute before the game, but this should not be close. We should win by 20 in my opinion. If we protect the ball on offense, it's a win.

How do you agree the is an easily fixable mistake, then disagree about moving on.

Seems to me you just want perfection.

I don’t care how easily fixable it is. It’s still gotta be fixed. Like I said, it is Monday. Really the first day I have discussed it. We are discussing issues with the game. The title of this thread is Fame and Shame. Lol! I honestly don’t know how to explain that anymore. I’m not saying it is the end of the world, but needs to be addressed.

I get it was a bad error. I get it led to their only points.

It was really his only mistake in the game. I'll take that knowing he's going to work his ass off to prevent it from happening again.

100% agree. But it is an issue that should and will be addressed.

    We won the game.

    Move on.

No. That is an issue. Because better teams can win with 7 minutes left and down 10. And it's like Monday dude. LOL! You act like it's week 10 already. This literally happened yesterday, and the week before.

I'm sorry, but expecting any QB to play perfect is ridiculous.

That play was pretty bad though. I'm not looking for perfection. But I do expect the turnovers that happen to be more reasonable. He basically tossed it to a D-lineman. Great job otherwise, but the "What the heck" turnover is what I am focused on. Not too mention we were up 17 on our side of the field. Got to know the situation. Those 7 points for the Saints never happen without this mistake. As dominate as we were, they were within 10 points in the 4th. That's upsetting.

Texans Coach Confirms Deshaun Watson Won't Play Thursday Despite Tyrod Taylor's Injury

For Tyrod's sake, they may want to hold him out Thursday so he can recover. I'm not even joking. This defense has been a nightmare for Wilson and Winston. You are looking at an average of 5 sacks and 10 QB hits. Short sample size, but all signs point to much of the same.

If it's that obvious to us, I'm sure that the coaching staff recognizes it, too.   Either (or both) blocking personnel changes, or using play-action in the RZ, should fix things.

Houston has surrendered 21 to lowly Jax, and 31 to Cleveland.  I have no doubt we'll be able to put up 30+ against them.

Add in the fact that we will probably have very good field position if the defense plays like they did against the Saints. Texans with a rookie QB in his first start. I honestly would be very upset if we didn't score at least 30 on Thursday night.

Joe Brady played the Saints twice last year and lost… so that argument seems valid

Bro, this was my exact thought. I was thinking that I couldn't really argue too much until this comment. LOL! I'm sure the same exec would have thought the same thing if Winston would have lead the Saints to a W against us right? Haha! I mean, Coach Payton knows Carolina so....Winston is still a maybe. Yeh....okay.

This team is young man. You have to be patient as they jell together.  The promising thing to me is that they are playing like this in year one.

Remember that something like 60% of our starters are playing their first season together.  The rest it's only their second season together so this group is wet behind the ears.

You old guys will get that one.

Bro, I understand that completely. They exceeded my expectations last year by losing 8 or 9 games by one score or less. I didn't think we would do that well. This year they have already exceeded my expectations by shutting both teams out in the first half of both games. I predicted a 24-20 win over the Saints even with their issues. But those issues have to be cleaned up to make it to the playoffs. Which I thought was a possibility at the beginning of the season....but still very unlikely. But now, with that defense, I believe it is entirely possible. Allowing teams to stick around has always been an annoying trait of ours. Even our 2015 Panthers allowed the Seahawks to come back after leading by like 30 points in the playoffs. lol! So, I'm satisfied with the win, but my expectations have gone up now. Haha! We were too dominate that game to be that close in the 4th, imo.

I mean, 26-7 is an ass-whooping in the NFL any way you slice it.  The crazy thing is we very easily could of had 40.  I thought the same thing after the first game.  They are leaving a lot of points out there.  When the offense puts it all together, to go with this defense.....ohhhh weeeeee mayne.  LOOK OUT!

Yeah, but it's not a, "We just held them to 128 yards." kinda score. Bills won like 35-0. That's the score that says, "We held Kamara to .6 yards per rush." Lol!
