Reminds me of my last job.  Our boss would tell my buddy to “step up” constantly, but with no actual instruction on how to do so.  He ended up getting fired.  Poor guy

I worked in personal finance for a while. Our Step-by-step guidance on selling a motorist assistance add-on product was “step 1: it sells itself. Get out there and sell!”.

Players currently under contract through ‘22 season:

    QB- Darnold (yuck)
    RB- CMC, Hubbard
    FB- obsolete?
WR- DJ Moore, Anderson, Marshall, Smith, D. Moore
    TE- Tremble
    OT- Moton, Erving, Christensen
    OG- Daley, Brown, Moore
    C- Elflein

    DT- Brown, Roy, Nixon, Hoskins
    DE- Burns, Fox, YGM
    MLB- ????
    OLB- Shaq, ???
DB- Horn, Henderson, Bouye, Pride, Taylor, Thomas-Oliver
    S- Chinn, Franklin, Hartsfield

    Special teams: Fletcher, Charlton

    Free Agents [potential replacement]:
    Cam (QB) [?]
    Reddick (OLB) [?]
    Paradis (C) [Elflein?]
    Burris (SS) [Hartsfield]
D Jax & Gilmore (CB). [Bouye, Henderson]
    John Miller (RG). [Christensen/Brown]
    Ian Thomas (TE). [Tremble]
    J Carter (LB) [?]

The OL is it’s own animal, but in a dream scenario Daley can hold down LT and Elflein is serviceable at C. (Big assumptions, sure). I’ve been of the opinion that interior play has been worse than the tackles.

In that case, biggest remaining issues:

    - Glaring hole at QB1, perhaps that problem magically goes away if Cam plays well and takes a home team discount to extend

    - CB is loaded, not sure we can afford both D Jax and Reddick. If can only keep one, I’d prefer to keep Reddick. Good news is losing Jax could net a 3rd rounder in a ‘23 comp pick.

    - how much does it cost to keep Carter and/or upgrade MLB?

I’d argue our cap is in pretty good shape. Yes, “only” $35 mil in ‘22, but over $100 mil in ‘23 and beyond. We can do some trickery with extensions of good, young players to make it through next year.

Neither David Moore made the team. Sooo, not under contract?

also, Kenny Robinson still there at Safety.

luckily our running game has been looking improved. Both Abdullah and Chubba have been fine in spurts releiving CMC and Royce Freeman as an emergency.  Hopefully we can keep Cam's shoulder mostly rested and on a pitch count.

Cam isn't Super Man anymore. He's our Clark Kent now and he's already buying into that role.

It is a concern though. We can only hope we manage it well.

Agree. Royce plays for the Texans now, though. But Abdullah had filled in nicely and gives us some dynamicism  w catching and returning.

  4. Strange. I was under the impression that his shoulder was toast and he no longer had a deep ball. That throw actually eased my concerns. He wasn’t shotputting the ball like he has the last few years post-injury. Much more zip and spin on that pass. That looked more like vintage cam. His deep balls have always been pretty low-trajectory and his accuracy has never been great.

  5. I’d think there was reason to be optimistic that sam could be decent behind a good line. I don’t think there was reason to believe that we assembled a good line.

Ceteris e pluribis facto: Sam wasn’t going to workout. And neither will any other qb for that matter. Fix the lines then plug in the qb - not the other way around.

-2013 Monday night football panthers vs patriots 24-20 win

    Steve Smith vs aqib Talib

Steve Smith 4 catches 62 yards

Aqib Talib 5 tackles 5 solo 2 PD

Cam newton hits Ted Ginn Jr on a 25 year TD pass with 59 seconds left to win the game

-2015 panthers vs giants 38-35 win

Josh Norman vs odell Beckham junior

    OBJ 6 catches 76 yds 1 TD

    JNO 3 tackles 2 solo 1 PD

cam leads the game winning drive after blowing 35-3. Graham Gano kicks game winning FG as time expires.

    More exciting? Controversial?

I personally enjoyed both.  Both WR/DB match-ups were very physical.  Yeah OBJ was being a punk, but that double move he put on JNO to tie the game was nice.  Watching old tapes of Steve Smith catching everything all the while Robby anderson dropping everything.

    ICE UP SUN

Obj Double move for a td was bull poo because he had been hitting, punching, slapping, etc all game. Norman was guarding for that, not the route. Then obj decided, for once, that he actually wanted to play football. He was doing the same poo to Cortland that game.

He may not be claimed at all. In my opinion he shouldn’t be claimed but I bet the Saints get him. Fug that guy…I’ll never forget him taking headshots on Norman and screaming on the sidelines like a man child.

Norman broke him. Maybe it was the baseball bats? He has never been the same. Guy is mentally fragile.

  8. 13-10 panthers.

O-line still sucks. We hide Sam with actually more running this week.

Ian Thomas w the lone TD.

Robby gets one target on the first drive for like 2 yards and just decides to pack it in and quit.

Ryan is not the mobile QB that we need to contain, pass rush can pin ears back and fly. we pitch a shutout all game and the Falcons  either get a garbage time TD or Sam coughs one up to give them a short field.

Chinn or Chandler literally breaks Cordarelle Patterson in half on a dump off. Literally in half. Two pieces of Cardarelle just kind of flopping all around. Game is stopped while they scoop him up and sprinkle some sort of kitty litter type stuff over the blood.

Derrick Brown does atomic frog splash on Matt Ryan and gets ejected. Matt Ryan shits all over himself.

Wanted him over Sam, bump any thread and theres plenty of me saying the same over and over.

Rhule was scared that Minshew would have won over the players and made the 2nd, 4th, 5th draft picks for Sam look like a waste.

Me too. Would have been nice to swap firsts and land one of their seconds and Minshew. Of course we would have needed to use one of those picks  on a lineman. Not sure when that’s going to happen.

They saw what he was showing us the first 3 games which was rather good I thought. Then the plane crashed in to the god damned mountain.

CMC was the bandaid for the hemorrhaging line. Defenses get a little tape, cmc goes out, and Darnold is back to Jets-Darnold seeing ghosts and panick-throws.

Nobody has tried to use him in a role where he is more primarily a runner then a passer.

Mike Shula used that bum arm in 2017 and had us at 11-5 and 1 win from a division title, Norv Turner tried to turn him into a pocket passer.

If Cam has a pitch limit and is used in an option situation, you can win with him, but it would have to be under the assumption he isn't playing until 40.

Ummm that’s exactly what the patriots did.

That is another issue entirely. Quite a few of our draft picks should have been OL. That's why some of us were screaming at our TV's the whole draft.

And like I mentioned before, week in, week out, we are seeing all those OL rookies starting around the league. Vikings took two. Chiefs took two. Eagles, packers, bills, Steelers, ravens. I think every other team landed starting linemen. We have dogshit and the guys we drafted are riding the pine.
resigned Robby AND drafted his replacement?? Can’t throw to Robby because the line can’t hold up.

doesn’t make a lot of sense

If we could get anything for Robby on that contract sign me up. What a mistake. Draft Terrace Marshall and Shi Smith but re-sign Robby to a huge extension. Made no sense.

Huge head scratcher. We should be set for next year w Dj and Terrace outside w Shi in the slot. I guess you don’t need offensive linemen as long as you have too many WRs and too many CBs.
