We had several years of tape of Darnold at the Jets that showed what we know now. There was no way that picking up his 5th year option was the right gamble. We should have put the ball in Darnold’s court and forced him to show us these three years of terrible tape was not him. Unsurprisingly he did not.

Frankly, all I hate about the Darnold acquisition was picking up his option. The trade would have been pretty decent value in that case cause even if he was to come back cause Baker sucks it would be for pennies compared to what he’s on now.

Ah yes…I remember it like it was yesterday. My first real draft following the panthers at 16 years old. I hated the Cam pick. He seemed like a dude with a big ego who would be too caught in the lights to develop but boy was I wrong and thank god! Hindsight maybe 20/20 but the way Cam single-handedly bulldozed the SEC made it so obvious. Young seems to be the closest sure thing. However, seeing Tua get hurt and how even a freak of nature like Cam was beating to the ground has me worried.

Cam and Peppers were freaks of nature but I hope you are right.

I feel the same. I don’t think he is confident he will be here next season. I think Tepper hasn’t fired him because he needs someone to man the ship till the end of the season and Fitt probably has a similar feeling.

I agree. If I was Tepp I would do a complete purge of anyone in the room who was nodding their heads when these stupid deals were being made.

Exactly! We had already agreed we overcommitted to Teddy but then we go and do the same thing with Darnold? It just made no sense. Moves like that make really iffy with Fitt and Tepp even with Rhule gone. Was there really no one in the room who thought it could be a bad idea?

Under a different regime I would be more hopeful. This one....it's very hard. Even in the Marty days we could somewhat bank on him getting the first pick right, which played very well in the Cam draft even though the rest of the draft was trash. This regime...I don't know. I don't know what I can say I can bank on with these guys especially at the QB position...

I never said anything about relocating but I can see why you could interept what I said as me implying that. Sorry but just as you said I don't believe in that conspiracy nonsense. My point is dont be mad at fan attitude when it is a product of the decisions made by this regime for several years. These guys deserve no respect until they earn it. Any vitriol and nonsense you hear from fans is our regime's creation.

Yes. It is a terrible cycle. And we only have our current brain trust to blame. No fan here or in the stadium is making these moves. And no I do not consider Tepper or Fitt fans cause I dont think even the dumbest person here would make the moves we have seen the past several years.

That is what happens when a regime throws away seasons as often as ours does.
