I think this could potentially be a very timely pick up.   Low risk and high reward.  It is cheap insurance against a season ending or nagging injury to our oldest and most sure handed wr and most reliable slot wr to boot.  If AT goes out for any amount of time hopefully HR can pick up the slack without missing a beat.

All I know is that (imo) , if the Panthers organization had coddled Cam like they are coddling little Bryce and giving him everything he wants and needs,  including time to succeed, he might still be playing today and be a sure fire bet for the HOF.  And we would have probably won at least one super bowl with him as qb.
