Hearing a lot of talk about trading Lamelo and that is crazy IMO.  He is doing things not many things have ever done.  He is a superstar I don’t care what anyone says.  He needs to stay healthy cuz I want to see him with all these other guys they picked up

Wonder what we could get back? I’d definitely entertain trading him.

The least athletic player in this draft at #4 is god awful. Yes his numbers back up that he's the least athletic player in this draft.

I guess we should disregard what all these places say about our draft? And just trust you guys on this board? And as far as the Mark Williams trade, most places are saying we got the much better end of that trade for what its worth to yall. Bleacher report has Kon a "B", BR has him C+, Fansided A-, NBC Sports overall draft an A-, Sports Illustrated overall A-, MSN has Kon a B+, Yahoo Sports has us at an A- overall. Here is what ESPN posted:

    Post-Draft Analysis

Knueppel's well-rounded perimeter game and terrific 3-point shooting ultimately won out in Charlotte's decision process, with the Hornets attracted to his fit with their current roster and his long-term potential. He should help stabilize their perimeter minutes immediately, with his dependability all season at Duke a major selling point. The Hornets were thought to be exploring moves here, but were content to simply grab their guy and move forward. This is a strong match that should pay off right away for both sides. -- Jeremy Woo

Their defensive weaknesses in their draft profiles read like carbon copies, lack of athleticism to match with superior nba athletes, lateral agility, etc. Like I said, there’s no shortage of defensive liability mid athletes who can catch and shoot 3s. He’s projected high because he’s a tall guard who shot a high % and he defended well in college, but he doesn’t even have good length for his height and every single draft profile has questions about his ability to defend at the next level. If he stayed in school another year and dipped to even 38% from 3 he’d be a late first maybe second. He’s getting hype off small sample size where his weaknesses weren’t sufficiently exposed and an efficiency rate that is all but guaranteed to come down. Singler was a projected lotto pick after 1 year, too, he just stayed in school long enough for everybody to see how low his ceiling was.

It's all about the fit... And Kon fits with this team. Bailey has bust written all over him in my opinion. A lineup of Miller, Ball, Bailey, Bridges, and Williams? Thats what you want to roll with? Tell me who the shooter is that keeps defenders from collapsing on Ball and Miller as they drive to the lane? Kon is a perfect fit with the guys we have as projected starters. JMO...And you talk about a small sample size? How much do we have on Bailey? He played alongside Harper, put up good numbers but they couldn't win. We can't keep building a team of 6'7" guys who have no true position on the court. WE NEED SHOOTERS!!!

If they traded back it's for maluach. The interest in kon is wildly overstated. It's either Bailey or VJ at 3 or a trade back for Maluach.

I'd take that bet... We pick 4th and VJ won't be available at 4 in my opinion. If he is, then we pick him.

Fingers crossed for Ace Bailey. Him not doing any workouts could be a huge blessing in disguise for us if he falls out of the top 3. Hope the team doesn’t mess it up.

Pray to god we don’t take the next Jon Scheyer/Kyle Singler/etc. with the #4 overall pick. The league has plenty of mid-athlete 3pt shooters that can’t defend superior athletes, we don’t need to waste a top 5 draft pick on one.

You comparing this guy to Singler and Scheyer is all I need to know about your opinion. He is the best fit for our team right now, I don't think that can be argued. Should we pick him at #4? That can be argued, as I think we could trade back a few picks to get him. With that being said, I think we trade back in the 6-8 range and pick Kon.

History says there will be multiple first round trades but this class is somewhat unique in its lack of talent once you get past the first 3-5 guys.  I am really hoping for a trade back because i have been convincing myself the character issue guys (Mike Green, Pearce, and Burden) can be rehabilitated here and would represent a huge bargain late in the first or even early in the second for Burden.

I'd take all 3 of em right now!

He's never played two consecutive seasons with the same coaching staff. Imagine trying to learn your trade with a new coach 3 years in a row. Ickey will be a top 10 LT in the league this year. Mark it.

I hope your right... I'm pulling for him

and sometimes rightly so--but there are two sides to the Moton coin and I see both.  I agree with you and Linville that OT is a bigger need than we are letting on--(I realize this is off topic) however, I also wonder if they think BC and Nijman (who I think will be cut) can hold down the fort.  I would rather have a third round OT developed for a year than a first rounder rookie OT starting at RT.  I hate to see us committing to addressing a need in the 2026 draft with the first round pick.  As for your selection of GIFs, not sure you make a strong case.

I make the best case, the strongest case.... I mean its gignatic... Donald Trump GIF

I mean, it's an easy call. He's a former top-6 pick who has played well overall and is still improving. Would you prefer an all-pro for the 6th overall pick? Of course. But he's far from a bust and people tend to forget how raw he was coming out of college as well.

He actually played better, earlier than I expected he would.

I like him at RT better then LT... His pass blocking is a problem and I'm not ready to pay him top 10 LT money which is what he will ask.

Possibly. With the rumors swirling about Moton it's easy to convince yourself that it's possible that OT is a LOT higher on our list of needs than would appear at a glance. The other distinct possibility is that we feel like Icky isn't putting in the work and we want to light a fire under his ass. If it's the latter, I would expect us to ultimately pick up his option but likely not be super aggressive to sign him to a huge extension. In which case, again OT would be a lot higher on our list than most would assume. The smoke is saying OT is a lot higher on our list than most of us think IMO.

As most now know, because of my topic about trading Moton, I think Tackle should be pretty high on our wish list. We have a guy at LT who most on this board still don't trust, although maybe last year was the year the lights turned on, and an aging RT who is going to want a contract that keeps him here as a starter until he retires. I just don't like the position we are in at the tackle position. JMO.
