  1. The Giants officially announced the signing of RB Shane Vereen on Thursday. Vereen’s contract will likely end up being a three-year deal worth close to $12 million and includes guarantees of around $5 million. “(I made this) decision with my family,” Vereen said. “At the end of the day, I wanted to make a decision that was right for us, right for them, and this is a great organization. I was fortunate enough to play in New England with another great organization. This is not a step down; if anything, it is a step up. I am looking forward to the opportunity, and I am enjoying being in New York.” Vereen, 25, ran for 391 yards on 96 carries (4.1 YPC) to go along with 52 receptions for 447 yards receiving and five total touchdowns for the Patriots. The Dolphins signed Smith to a two-year contract worth $5.5 million back in March of last year. However, Miami elected to take the $2.75 million in cap space that they got from cutting him and move on. Smith, 27, is a former sixth round pick of the Texans back in 2010. He spent the first two years of his career in Houston be he was waived and later claimed by the Rams. In 2014, Smith appeared in 11 games for the Dolphins and was rated as the No. 54 guard out of 78 qualifying players by Pro Football Focus.

Vikings Mark Craig reports that the Vikings are not interested in LB Andrew Gachkar.

Goldson, 30, signed a five-year, $41.25 million contract that included $22 million guaranteed with the Bucs back in March of last year. According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Goldson will free up $4 million in available cap space while creating $4 million in dead money. Johnson, 28, still had two years remaining on his five-year, $36.25 million contract that included $18.05 million guaranteed. He would have made base salaries of $5.5 million and $5.85 million over the final two years of the agreement. According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Johnson would free up $6,025,000 in available cap space while creating no dead money. In 2014, Johnson appeared in 13 games and caught 35 passes for 435 yards receiving and three touchdowns for the 49ers. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 22 receiver out of 110 qualifying players, which is pretty good considering that he only played 305 snaps.
  16. Dolphins Officially Sign Ndamukong Suh The Miami Dolphins announced the signing of DT Ndamukong Suh to a six-year contract on Wednesday. Agreement with the Dolphins. Suh receives a six-year contract worth $114 million that includes $59.955 million guaranteed. He’ll also receive a $25.5 million signing bonus. Suh’s base salaries will be: $985K (2015), $23.485M (2016), $9.985M (2017), $16.985M (2018), $18.985M (2019), and $8.36M (2020).

Conte, and possibly former teammate S Major Wright, is reuniting with former Head Coach Lovie Smith. Conte, 26, is a former third round pick of the Bears back in 2011, so Lovie Smith is obviously very familiar with him as a player. He played out his four-year, $2,603,600 rookie contract and could end up securing a pay raise when all is said in done despite some shaky play. In 2014, Conte appeared in 12 games and recorded 43 tackles, three interceptions, and three pass defenses for the Bears. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 63 safety out of 87 qualifying players.

Falcons Falcons signed G Mike Person. Lions Recently acquired DT Haloti Ngata said he is open to signing an extension with the Lions. QB Alex Carder is visiting with the Lions on Wednesday. Ravens New Lions DT Haloti Ngata said that he and the Ravens could not get ”close enough to what we thought I could get,” on the open market in regards to a restructured contract. Seahawks GM John Schneider says the Seahawks have spoken with the agents of QB Russell Wilson and LB Bobby Wagner, but both are aware that the team has other things to attend to right now.
  21. Rams Expected To Re-Sign WR Kenny Britt Britt reportedly has interest from other teams as well that were considering him as a second choice or backup plan at receiver. Britt put together a solid first year with the Rams and has said previously that he would like to be back with the team for the 2015 season. Britt, 26, wound up signing a one-year, $1,400,000 contract with the Rams that included just $550,000 guaranteed after a disappointing end to his time with the Titans. He’s one of the best remaining options at receiver, so it will be interesting to see who else is considering him. In 2014, Britt appeared in all 16 games for the Rams and caught 48 passes for 748 yards receiving and three touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 36 receiver out of 110 qualifying players this past season.
