Nikishin is out there carrying Orlov.

Morrow hasn’t been bad he’s just not really all that great at anything. Best case scenario is he becomes a Ghost type of player but his skating needs to improve.

Honestly I’m fine with turning this into a track meet. That’s how Toronto plays and they managed to take Florida to 7.

This is gonna take an individual effort because their ice is poo. The Panthers would probably be up 3-0 if it was better. The puck is constantly rolling.

Rod pretty much admitted this by putting Kochetkov in because he knows our defense is going to give up grade A’s which Kooch is just better at.

Just my two cents but what separates the Panthers is their defense can really skate and their off the puck movement is incredible.

Slavin is a good skater and Chatfield is a great skater but after that our defense consists of some pretty average skaters. Florida pinches their defense in a bunch and we still can’t get odd man rushes like we did against Washington. And then you just look at how on offense the team is always interchanging and setting those legal picks. They really free themselves up for some great looks.

Yeah our systems are similar but there’s looks controlled and ours looks chaotic.

There’s a video out there of Chatfield skating. By the looks of it he might not be back for the rest of the playoffs.

Morrow can’t be trusted and if the language barrier is too big of an issue than just roll with Stillman. He’s at least physical.

I mean Rod fuged up by not putting Orlov and Nikishin together. Orlov can play his off side. He did it a bunch in Washington.

Nikishin can’t speak English so putting him with Ghost is useless.

On another note we desperately need Chatfield back.

It’s going to take both Nikishin and Morrow some time.

And put Orlov/Nikishin (he can play his off side) for that reason and the communication Orlov can communicate with him.

Eh Nikishin isn’t your typical rookie like Demi from Montreal so I don’t have a ton of concern there. But you do bring a good point about the language barrier. Orlov and Nikishin would be our Russian bash brothers.

I mean at this point I’d play Slavin on his off side. Burns’ metrics last night were some of the worst you’ll ever see from a defenseman in playoff hockey.

If I’m D.J. Johnson I’m going straight to the front office and asking to move back to tight end.

Most don’t realize that Johnson played some tight end at Oregon. In the Covid shortened 2020 season Johnson had 3 TD’s on 10 targets in 7 games.

He’s got a tight end frame and good speed so if I was him I’d take my chances at tight end over EDGE.

This game is going to be interesting from an intensity standpoint as we have a lot of AHL’ers playing tonight who should be looking to make their mark and a win in regulation would give Columbus control of their destiny tomorrow against the Islanders.

It would be pretty damn funny being responsible for keeping Montreal out of the playoffs.

Im glad I was wrong about our guys. From the games I’ve seen they’ve been fun to watch. Maybe they can go on a heater during the playoffs.
