On Guentzel, seen some say he would be in line for 10.5m AAV on the open market. So probably gone.

as for the other, Canucks have been trying to get him since before the trade deadline and he was close to being sent to them then.

Canes are wanting a top level prospect back plus for Necas.

Willander for Necas, let’s get it done.

  2. Some news coming in…

Seravalli thinks a Necas trade could happen this week, I’m calling BS on this.

Pagnotta says that Guentzel will test free agency and that the league things that Carolina is going to circle back on signing both Skjei and Pesce.

  3. Yeah, I’m with trading the pick.

Dillingham will be gone and Castle only wants to be a PG. Those were the only guys I was interested in with a top 5/6 pick.

Trade the pick for an established player.

I just can’t see that happening in rods system unless he changes his tune on some things.

Yeah, we’ve only had one player in Hurricanes history with a 100 point season (Staal in 05-06). Getting another one would be a feat in itself, three is highly unlikely.

Big Pat I think can be successful but they need to either replace him or find other attacking players that pair better with him.  Personally I'd love to see Westwood replaced

Personal opinion is that Westwood and Diani are a little redundant. I’d like to see more attacking players in the middle but for the past few years, regardless of the coach, they essentially prefer two CDM’s and one CAM (which we don’t even really have).

Westwood would be fine as a lone CDM, as would Diani. But I’d want a better two way CM next to one of them along with a DP CAM.

I saw him in the middle with Kubalik and Pasta on the wings yesterday. I don't have NHL Network, so I'm only seeing the highlight reels.

Well, I read Kampf went to the room yesterday with an injury, so maybe they changed up?

I could be wrong, but it sure looked to me like he was playing center.

That was just momentarily. On the first, second, fourth, and fifth goal, Necas was playing RW.

And he looks very fluid and quick as ever after a full NHL season. Gotta admit, he looks more comfortable operating in the middle of the ice.

I haven’t seen him playing center? He’s being centered by Kampf with Kubalik on the other wing.

Even the Czech Republic’s lineup shows him at RW.

  8. Necas is still on the wing for the Czech’s, he’s being centered by Kampf and Kubalik is on the other wing.

Also, keep in mind, IIHF rinks are bigger than NHL rinks, that’s definitely beneficial to a player like Necas.

So what happens when the kid underwhelms relative to his compensation to play college football for Whatever State University?  Can they now be cut/fired, because they're employees more so than student athletes, or will the "they’re just kids, let them grow" narrative remain?  Business is business, can't have the cake and eat it too.

Think questions like this among other things is why we’ll see a CBA in a couple years. Eventually I think we’ll see college athletes, at least the elite one’s, signing contracts.
