I have only seen him play a few times, but when I did, I was impressed with his speed (deceptive), his intelligence, and his accuracy (72% completions, 22 TDs vs 4 Ints).  His WRs were very young, and the offense was very run heavy--so they did not need him to stretch the field very often.  I sorta see him as a diamond in the rough--worth the #33 pick?  I think so.  We need two WRs and some attention on the OL.

However, you could argue that they are not going to give up on the #1 overall pick this quickly, and the best approach is to give Bryce and Andy another year while developing the OL WR and TE rooms.

Does it feel like if we had a veteran and he could sit for a year or two he would be a great pick, but drafting him to compete with Bryce is a stretch? I really want the best G/C at 33.

For the record I'd be fine with Callahan, but it doesn't seem like these people have any concrete evidence linking us to him it's just a pure guess.

If he brings his dad to coach the o-line and Jake Browning to compete with Bryce, I’d be all in tbh.

OK let me speak slow.. I don't want anything to rub in tepper's face. I want tepper to learn his lesson and let the football people make the football decisions. It's really not hard

Or, you can hope he does some good hires this time and our division rivals mess it up. Now that would be much better. And let me know if I need to repeat that slower…

Don’t listen to that, Tepper has poured more money into the stadium and facilities than people will admit. Never mind the blank check Frank had to hire a staff.

That what I thought as well, thanks for jumping in

That would be a lie. Tepper is cheap. We have some of the oldest facilities and most outdated equipment in the league.

I thought they had an upgraded weight room etc. But my point is that he would promise to give them what they need. For Reich, as an example, there was no cap on spending on coaches.

Why? He certainly knows his Xs and Os 🫥

(arguably better than Brian Johnson does, from what I've seen)

I’m curious about him essentially storming out from/taking his ball and going home from his last two jobs. Is he a difficult guy to work with?

Do you guys think Tepper will let Ben Johnson leave the building if he wants Ben that badly?

The best thing Tepper can do is to tell any HC candidate that money is not an issue, he will supply any resources they might need for success, such as facilities, equipment, staff etc. I think those things resonate well.

Probably helps to be a little clearer on my part here...

Howie Roseman isn't a great personnel guy or a great coach, but what he has been good at in the past is hiring people who were.

Unfortunately between he and Jeffrey Lurie, he's also part of a culture that tends to undermine those guys and shoot its own wounded.

That's definitely not something I want to import here.

Yeah the culture is huge red flag, no doubt, so I would stay away. A shame as they draft and acquire players so well.

    If you say so 🙄

You're free try and refute the argument, of course. By all means, tell me anything and everything positive you've read about Halaby that makes you think he's the right guy and this other stuff won't matter.

And specifics to Halaby himself, please. Association with the Eagles isn't good enough. Using that logic you could argue for Brian Johnson as our head coach.

    Whadda ya got?

(and FYI, responding that I wouldn't listen anyway or that it's all just guesswork is basically an admission that you don't really have anything and you're just buying into the spin)

The Eagles have built a very talented roster, but currently have really bad coaching after both coordinators left last year. Your “… Using that logic you could argue for Brian Johnson…” argument is really poor. I’m personally not a fan of the org as a whole, but wow you are way off with that logic.

  10. I don’t think Tepper himself is as big of an issue for a new GM and HC as portrayed by media and fans. Majority of owners are “interesting” people and in general fairly hands on, especially when things are going bad.

I want nothing to do with any of the Eagles personnel. They’ve arguably been the worst team in the NFL over the past three weeks and as national pundits have stated, their offense is easy to defend.

They use motion less than any team in the NFL and don’t cause opposing defenses to have to adjust at all. There’s nothing confusing or interesting about the Eagles offense and it all relies on elite execution by the players.

    No thank you.

Agree, nobody on their current staff should be considered (outside the p-line coach, but he’s not going anywhere).

The same goes for Dan Quinn. Don’t see the appeal in him at all. Cowboys defense beat up on bad teams and faltered against good opponents. Very overrated.

I don't blame him. That 2-3 million in NIL money for a single season is more than he would make as a mid round NFL rookie, plus with an easier and lighter schedule.

Yes, makes a lot of sense. Will be very interesting to see if he takes the next step or not.

That's why you can only take the Huddle Hot Takes with a grain of salt. Tua is a fine NFL QB who had a rough night on the road in one of the toughest environments to play in. But these numb skulls will try and paint a definitive picture after 1 bad game, or season and think they have a clue what they're talking about

I mean, the Dolphins have essentially been beating up on bad teams all year. The only good team they beat was the Cowboys (22-20). Whenever they play someone good they got nothing.

Todd Monken or Mike Macdonald (my #2 overall behind Ben Johnson)

I'm just not a fan of these other options.  Ben Johnson is my #1 but I don't see that happening.

Monken is older, which hurts him, but he's got great experience in the pro and college game.  That should help with his ability to develop players because he's familiar with different styles and ways of getting guys involved.  Even in Tampa, he did a great job (I won't blame him for Jameis being a turnover-machine).  And he's worked under two great leaders in Harbaugh and Smart.

Macdonald I feel could be a culture-setter, and like Monken, has worked under great leaders.  And I just get a vibe that his teams will be tough.  I mean just look at him.

I don't want to hire an offensive coach for the sake of saying we have one.  Callahan and Canales would be blah hires.  I wouldn't hate Frank Smith... but I wouldn't feel good about it working out.  Feels like you'd be taking a huge gamble that he isn't just riding Mike McDaniels' coattails.

    And please no retreats.

Agree with your thoughts on Monken

  15. Seeing Monken trending for Panthers (means nothing, probably because he interviewed today). He’s got a very interesting background. He’s led a lot of different offenses in the NFL and college, and they all seem to produce big numbers. Feels like a strong sleeper candidate.

  16. 24 minutes ago, Mr. Scot said:

    They hired a minority coach.

I don’t think that is enough. From what I understand you have to interview at least two external minority candidates. The only reason the could do it was mentioned above.

How have they complied with the rooney rule already?

Apparently you can write in to a contract that they are promised the position if the HC leaves, and that is what they did in his latest contract
