Apparently it wasn't only the medicals--there are teams reportedly w/character concerns about JPJ per Daniel Jeremiah and Dane B. He may have a slide.
I haven’t heard this before, what were the character concerns?

Didn’t want him, just like I didn’t want Bryce last year. Hopefully I’m wrong and he turns out great. The one thing I definitely like is that he is no diva WR, that’s fir sure

This could be a banner year for QB's... or the biggest group of busts of all time.
Oh there will be busts, no doubt

Cmon now the reaching on these qbs is insane
Agree 100%. But great for us

Am I the only one ok with no WRs in round 2? If that happens it means it was a run on WRs and it pushed some really good players to us.

Is no-one worried that Daniels is going to be a 24 year old rookie?
Agree, older QBs that started for 4-5 years scare me. They might look good year 1, but year 2 usually rough.
I mean, what is their untapped potential and upside? The last 1-2 years have been men playing against boys.

I hope not, and I think not, but I wouldn’t rule it out. If there is someone we really want and the cost is ok, I can see it happen. Would also give us year 5 for that player. Overall it will be a fascinating first round, feels like anything could happen.

BPA Center, then whomever is BPA for WR/CB/Edge/LB.

I mean it would be a very Panther thing to do….to avoid WR in a WR draft. No arguing that. We are the worst team in all of sports for a reason.
Couldn’t disagree more, reaching for a position even when it is not BPA is a Panthers thing to do. Taking BPA would be very refreshing and the right thing to do.

We need to go BPA, and I don’t expect that to be a WR double dip. It might not be a WR at all tbh.

That's my absolute DREAM scenario. I know everyone will flip if we don't take a WR in the 2nd round but both of those guys are legit All-Pro caliber prospects that would be core players on this team for the next 10+ years barring injury.
2nd: Jackson Powers-Johnson, C, Oregon
2nd: Edgerrin Cooper, LB, Texas A&M
3rd: Johnny Wilson, WR, Florida State
4th: Braelon Allen, RB, Wisconsin
5th: Mohamed Kamara, EDGE, Colorado State
5th: Ainias Smith, WR, Texas A&M
7th: M.J. Devonshire, CB, PittsburghThe JPJ and Cooper combo in the second round would be awesome

I would have taken Sweat at 39. The fact that he could be available at 65 is fantastic. If he slides all the way to 101 and we don't take him, shame on us.
That exactly where I was at as well. Now I’m hesitant. But it is ok to start taking chances in the 4th and 5th round, so that’s where I would still consider him. Canales strikes me as someone who could be a good fit for Sweat, but that’s just a feeling I have, and I obviously don’t know that as a fact.

There's not a lot separating them except maybe speed (Leggette) and more consistent production over the years (Coleman).
There is also not a lot separating them from DBs…

I think those teams would be a great fit for him. He would be option 3ish, plays designed for him etc. So for those teams he could be a high pick. For us I don’t see him being a fit until the 3rd round, but by then he’ll probably be gone.

that is exactly how I feel. I would love him at 65.
I agree, super likable guy, exciting to watch, but still raw despite being older. Wouldn’t take him in round 2, but would consider in round 3 if he’s there because the Panthers need day 1 starters with the two 2nd rounders. And he’s not a day 1 starter.

I'm confident Bryce can get the ball to a receiver downfield if given a somewhat clean pocket. He missed on the handfull of deep throws, but every QB misses those throws at times. He just didn't take enough shots. That's a problem in itself, but a different problem. No one is hitting a high percentage of deep balls with just ok receivers and a low-end o line. Do you really think Bryce can't accurately throw over 40 yards, when he actually overthrew his deep passes to Mingo and TMJ last season? They weren't underthrown.
He was pretty bad a deep throws in college, so it was not a surprise that carried over to the NFL.

I don’t mind Wiggins at 33, trading back from 39 and missing out on another starter on the other hand…

That is concerning. He was my #1 guy, but that is a rough injury history

I don’t get the obsession in trading back, moving out if a potentially great player at 33 and 39, and net a fourth rounder or similar. It makes 0% sense. Only way I would move back is if someone lost their mind and offered us a ridiculous return, I have no interest in the value chart. We need quality, not quantity. It was one of the many reasons Fitt was terrible.

You have what I feel is the perfect top 4 *if they were BPA at the time-WR, C, CB, and edge. I know I speak BPA non-stop, but I also feel strongly that those first four spots benefit the most.
I also feel CB must be either 33rd or 39, but I have not done a deep drive into mid-late CB, just feel its major....the major hole currently and makes most sense to use a 2nd here. Just me tho. Honestly using another late pick there wouldn't hurt given the high success rate.
I will say this, I think you need to add a LB as well(preferred 5-7). Just nothing behind Shaq and Jewell, with the new KO LB maybe the best players. Panthers need LBs, young ones.
TE I feel is super weak this year, imo its best to ignore until the 5-7 rounds.
2 WRs
1 C
1 edge
1 CB
1 LB
1 TE/CB/DL/RB/S/BPA/etc
That's what I normally shoot for, but talent overrides.
Agree with you on the BPA. I know Philips at CB is someone Brugler was tweeting about the other day, and I trust his opinion, so that’s why I went with him. Not a fan of some of the other CBs projected in rounds 2-3. Would love Wiggins to fall and take him at 33, but I don’t think that will happen.
