  1. I think he might be a smarter passer and using more touch than in the past. But I don’t think he’s the same runner as he was, which is ok. He can still run but he’s 6 years older and not as fast and agile. The way he ran back in 2015 was just another level. If he has no further shoulder issues he will be a top tier QB for years. I’m worried about the shoulder but hope he proves me wrong.

Some of you Cam super fans got to chill and not take offense to any little thing said about Cam, you treat it like a personal attack. It feels like you are almost looking for something to be offended about.

I have a Cam jersey, my son has a Cam jersey, but I’m willing to accept that Cam at 32 is not the same athlete as he was at 26, and so should any reasonable person.

The more and more I read about this draft class its sounding like a incredible year for tackles and iOL.  Really crappy qb draft but we can take a step in building our line with our first pick

I agree, we should be able to get a really good one for our line. Combine that with (hopefully) one good FA signing and we might have a decent to good line ne t season.

Funny how the WRs can suddenly catch again now that they no longer have to worry about Darnold throwing them into trainwreck hits.

Yeah there was one pass in particular to DJ where Cam threw it low so he could catch it and avoid getting destroyed. Really good stuff.

  4. Should be a lot of options as I’m assuming the whole Buffalo coaching staff gets fired for being blown out but Indy, completely unable to stop the run, or the Titans being outplayed by the Texans, I’m thinking they should all be fired, maybe as soon as tomorrow. Right? Am I doing this right?

It was also said that before any decisions were made Rhule and Cam had a lengthy conversation by telephone to hash things out.

It has also been mentioned that Rhule was the first one to reach out to Cam. Cam said so himself that he got a call from Rhule. Not sure if it was Rhule’s idea or not, but I bet he was looking for new options at the QB spot.

    THIS

Just curious. You don’t think Cam’s injury history and indirectly asking for a new contract on social media had anything to do with it? You think it was 100% one-sided and Cam did everything perfect from his side?

I think it was handled poorly from both sides, but it is obviously totally fine to have a different take on it.

I’m really happy to have Cam back btw, but again I think both sides had some responsibility for how it went down.

I'm sorry but anything less than 2015 Cam isn't going to save this team this year. Our OL and OC are the biggest problems.

I don’t have great expectations, but it feels really good and I’ll take that for now.

  8. Here are some draft profiles on his mobility. Not a runner, but doesn’t sound at all like a statue:

Strong’s arm is his most valuable physical tool, but the Nevada QB isn’t a liability as an athlete. Strong is more of a pocket passer, but he has some underrated mobility within his archetype. He has some definite short-range spryness and escapability in the pocket, and he also flashes limited off-script ability. He can cover ground with long strides and extend plays to the sideline if necessary.”

Strong is an average athlete with regard to mobility outside of the pocket. In the run game, he isn't much of a threat to the defense as a runner. Therefore, running many of the zone-read concepts with him would be problematic. The passing game is where he thrives. He’s more of a traditional pocket passer with very good arm strength and throws with a good base. He has the mental processing to make quick decisions. Nevada’s offense provides many opportunities for him to display his downfield accuracy. He has a good internal timer and he innately feels pressure on the backside. He has a quick release and easily gets the ball out of his hands from the gun to short throws. He goes through his progressions and will check it down when necessary. One of his best assets is his ability to take care of the football. Some of his turnovers in the exposures I’ve graded were situations where his receivers let him down.

I thought Sam Darold would be a good QB.

I assumed his play in NY was mostly a function of the horrible Jets organization - which has been a disaster for at least the last 20 years (and maybe since Joe Namath).  A guy like Darnold with his size, talent & experience would surely thrive in a new environment at Carolina with its good coaching (!!) and surrounded by playmakers (which lasted all of 3 games).

I was sadly proven very wrong.  I don't even view Darnold as a capable backup QB right now.  He's that awful.

This is exactly what I thought as well. Agree with everything you said.

I would make him a very strong offer in free agency next offseason when he becomes a FA. Or did I not understand your question?

I also think MJ has some promise at LG, a stud LT in FA could help elevate his play. Then you can attack C and RG in FA/draft. Might be wishful thinking in my part, but I like that direction.

For fugs sake you cannot build a line through free agency.  fuging a how many times have we tried this?

You can’t if you get mediocre players. But if you sign someone like Armstead at tackle and a very good guard it will certainly help. If you prioritize and am willing to spend you can make a lot of progress.
