  1. Ability to get open and create separation should be an absolute priority. I don’t care if they run a 4.7

Throw out the RAS metrics. Draft someone like McConkey. No more projects with upside kind of bs in round 2-3, that’s for round 6-7.

  2. I believe the general perception is that Wilks wasn’t as good as Saleh and Ryans. They both were good enough to get HC jobs. I’ve seen some numbers backing up the notion of a strong year for the 49ers defense, and it was. But it didn’t reach the heights it has in the past, despite same or better roster. The expectations for a DC on that team are just so high.

I wish he would have gone there and blown the doors off, but that just didn’t happen.

  3. There were signs throughout the season that they were not on the same page, so I’m not surprised. I think Shanahan wanted a different type of defense so the hire was a bit odd to begin with.

But the Super Bowl loss itself is all on Shanahan, his offense did not deliver, players not aware of overtime rules speak of issues with preparations etc.

I feel bad for Wilks, but in the end I just don’t think the two of them were a good match.

Meanwhile PJ gives Dallas a 3 point PJ special.

I don’t know if there is a single player in the NBA that is as up and down as PJ. You never know what you’re going to get with him.

Grant Williams got that DAWG in him!

Love this because we get a guy who will hustle and not back down from players. He might be our leader low-key.

Getting a 1st round pick was a steal. We won this trade easily.

Agree, his attitude and defensive tenacity is exactly what this team needs.

Great teams don't fail to score. Ya don't get to the Superbowl by having an offense that fails to produce against good defenses. Just like ya don't get there without good defenses.

Nobody is worshipping the man. So you can go play in traffic until ya find someone that is doing so.

Wow, a lot of anger there.

The reason Moton number is so high is we've restructured him time over time.  If he's going to be here long term just extend him and stop pushing the money off.  His cap hit won't shrink magically and then in a season we're going to be sitting here saying "Why is moton getting 40m+"

I would extend him as well. He’s never injured, plays a position where you can play a long time, he’s a very good player that (I think at least) wants to be here, he’s a team leader etc.

Yet their in the superbowl. A goal all teams have, yet only 2 make it to.

Defensive and offensive ratings are great. Fantastic.

The only stats that truly matter, is the wins and losses column.

So, seems like you're just looking for something negative to say about him and the work that he does.

    Good job.

I like Steve, he seems like a great man without doubt. And I’m very happy for him. I was just anticipating the hype squad saying him being in the superbowl somehow makes him a great coach. The last couple of games have been really rough in the 49ers defense, despite being stacked with talent.

  9. If play calling is what he loves, what a great spot he’s in. Dan can do all the leadership stuff and Ben can stay in his lab coming up with new stuff, and still get paid a ton. Good for him. But he should have handled it better imo.

  10. When he has the time to fully step in to his throws and conditions are ideal, he can probably make most standard short to intermediate throws. But he has never had a good deep ball, not even in College. He will struggle to go beyond intermediate throws and that gives the defense somewhat of an advantage as they don’t really need to account for it.

We will do everything we can to build on what he does well, but unfortunately that puts a ceiling to what we can achieve as a team.

Btw, I would love to be wrong as I’m all about us having success. Team success is number one, and if Bryce is not that guy we need to move on to someone else the following year.

Weekly meetings.  Play suggestions.  Defense suggestions. Etc

Essentially every owner in the NFL has weekly meetings with the GM and HC. It is so weird that people have an issue with that.

The other points are legit if the owner imposes game day decisions (I do think this mostly is very exaggerated fan fiction) I don’t agree with it, but if I had Frank trying the same things every week with the same results, I probably would ask some questions about it and ask “have you thought about x y z”.

  12. Dan is not a great speaker, but he has a lot of fire and conviction. He is very different from Fitt in that regard. I mentioned before, but he was openly saying we currently suck, we don’t have the right players etc. I really liked what I heard from him.

  13. Good, strong press conference. They both came across as very passionate, clear on what they need to and want to do. Dan went on (in a good way) about how we need a different mind set, different players etc. He more or less said we suck and we are soft right now. It was very refreshing that he called that out.

I did not watch much of it today or read any comments.  Interesting--what you say will drop him down boards. There are a lot of 4.4 guys who stall to 4.8 when running routes.  I mentioned this in relation to DBs when I played in college, but one comment by the DB coach stayed with me, even though I was a TE,  He said you may run a 4.4, but if it takes you .2 of a second slower than a 4.6 guy to process and play and get there, then I am going with the smart guy (the 4.6 with brains and faster reaction).  I can say that i have never spent more focus watching WRs separation than this year.

Ladd Mcconkey (sp?) seem to be one of the best at creating separation, and he has good speed as well. I’m intrigued.

As an avid mock drafter, I can say that I often fall in love with players early in the process and that causes me to overlook other talents.  I am trying to stay objective about Legette, but it is difficult.

It would be worth it for all the “he’s legit” jokes we could use
