If this contract thing becomes an issue and he continues to hold out, is there still a trade market for him for a "win now" team that may be willing to give multiple first round picks?

I thought that he only missed 1 practice, and he was reportedly there, just not participating "for personal reasons". Have I missed something?

If I am one of the front office personnel here is what I am thinking.....

For the Haynes spot, either we elevate Leota or I am signing Isiah Thomas off the Browns practice squad.  I'm leaning towards the Thomas signing.  If we sign a player off the practice squad we need to roster him for 3 weeks.  That gives Thomas a try out and we protect Leota from possible waivers on good showings.

The second roster spot that is open I'm still holding out for a big body at NT.  Maybe Chris Wormly?

Thanks for having actual input instead of a hot take about how much we suck. I don't know jack about Thomas, but I like your plan. If I'm Fitt, Reich, or Evero, I'm doing a deep dive on all 32 practice squads.

The receiver? Sure is. The receiver ran a crappy route. You could see him slow up and his brake to the inside was sloppy and too deep. But Jamison did his break on the ball perfectly.  He just couldn't hang on. You don't get a chance to pick off Bryce like that often. Bryce was the only rookie qb the didn't have an INT in preseason.  I hope I didn't just jinx him.

Would have thought that would have come up during the first date.
I mean being a Duke, Saints, Seahawks, Yankee, Bruins, Capitols or Broncos fan are ground for immediate dismissal for me.
(That said all the stuff just listed are waived if the “You Have Fallen for the Girl” clause is enacted. Which overrides everything.)

All the more reason to have those tough conversations early in the relationship before you're too invested! My wife couldn't care less about football, so we have a deal. Panther games and playoffs are 100% a given that we will watch, all others are open for debate. I generally lose the debate except for 3-4 non panther games a year.

I have to think that YGM is going to play DE (not OLB) in certain passing situations.  We have 5 TEs and 3 DEs.  That is just wrong.

I think Johnson could possibly play DE in a 4-3 as well. A lot was made of him being told that he had to set the edge before he earned the right to pass rush.

I like the experience, but trying to figure out why he went from a 14 game starter to waived the next year?

My guess would be numbers. That's how a lot of guys get out there.

Also possible they were hoping to get him back on the practice squad.

I posted elsewhere as well but, from saints wire: "

The Saints almost undoubtedly want Throckmorton back on their practice squad, but it’s unlikely he’ll clear waivers. Few players with his combination of age (he just turned 27 on Aug. 16) and NFL game experience (he’s totaled 1,398 snaps) will be available, and offensive linemen are always valued in the league. Hopefully he stays in New Orleans, but don’t bet on it.

Offseason additions like fourth-round rookie draft pick Nick Saldiveri and the decision to move James Hurst to left guard, pushing Andrus Peat down the depth chart, made Throckmorton expendable.

  8. I had an epiphany in the shower and wasn't sure where to post it. I didn't want to start a new thread or hijack 1 of the cut threads. It's so simple that I cannot believe that another huddle GM hasn't come up with yet, we can solve our QB3 and our power back in 1 glorious move! Since he'd be qb3, he wouldn't count in our 46 gameday limit, AND he's already said that he would back up Young. It's a win, win, win! Bringing him back for the 3rd time could be the charm!

I'm ashamed to say I dont know who any of those guys are. Which is why I was worried after I saw Henry Anderson was back on IR. Isn't he the guy who had cancer last season but made it back for like the last 4 games or something?

    Something like that.

    • What are we doing on the d-line? All we have is Tuttle, Brown, and Stallworth I believe.

According to the official roster, we still have Deshaun Williams, Nick Thurman and some guy named LaBryan Ray (never heard of him).

Bryce has cleared the path for Derek as reported yesterday.

    What does this mean?

Bryce mentioned having developed a chemistry with Derek Wright. Hence Wright was a better fit than Shi Smith. I assume that with 7 WR's on the roster (as of now), he's still in the hot seat.
