I think the act of spotting the ball will still be done by a person as there was no mention of that. The spot is where you would find the vast amount of judgement and mistakes imo.  I think you have a valid point though.

I don't think so. I think once you're measuring electronically, the spot is where the sensor says it is. So if it says half yard short of the line to gain, that's the spot. Now how that works with scrums and the ball moving on two minute drills and poo is anybody's guess.

How exactly does it work though? Do they still need someone to judge when the play is dead?

From my understanding the side judge is still there

Guys can reach the ball out over the line but it has always been where they go down at for a first down, im not sure how this is going to be implemented in football.

Again side judge + booth official

Even for goal line purposes passing the ball negates the use of it because it wont be able to tell if the pass is caught or not, only whether it crossed the plane.

Again, officials. This tech is only for spotting down and distance

Well I was figuring his footwork and the little ease on back thing he has going, and that tippy toe hopping, are just too far afield of anything good that that just is what it is.

It is next to impossible to change that stuff at this level. Tiger Woods broke his stuff down... never the same. It is not easy.

Then I considered that maybe he has not done enough under center work to have that bad form drilled in and could possibly be taught correctly in that discipline.

It's different when you're Tiger. He got to be the best pro with weird mechanics. Bryce got to be a really good college QB with his. Not the same.

Bryce has the work ethic, I think, to learn correct form. Especially if the coaches are blunt with him and drill him on it every single day. If they can have him consistent in his mechanics every snap by preseason, the rest is easy. If not...Bryce isn't gonna be here long as the starting QB.

I hope he worked on his lower body strength too. He was pulled down so easily at times last year.

This take is just us expecting monsters at QB thanks to Cam, Big Ben, Etc. they're the exception, not the rule. Brady wasn't resisting sacks. Peyton either. They just stood tall and delivered.

That and he's 5'10" being tackled by dudes who are 6'2+ every time. It's always gonna look easy for them lol

My mowing shoes are my old running shoes cause clearly I no longer run if I got a riding lawn mower.

I felt this deeply. My Brooks mock me daily.

  6. Now that we've established mowing is a fun, relaxing time for all of us, let's talk mowing shoes.

I'm an old man in my mid-30s but I traded the monarchs for some sketchers boots and goddamn are they nice

Got good goalie play tonight, just need more of it. Fred made some key saves early. He also seems to play better when he’s more involved early.

Always been the knock on him. He's so good but we're so often good in front of him that he gets cold quick. He needs a flurry in front of him to start each period or it's like watching a rookie taking his first start in the net in the playoffs. He makes a couple big saves and he's usually fine

  8. I expected Kuzy to get us set up shots for Svech and Aho from the circle similar to Ovechkin. Especially on the power play. That's a high percentage scoring area we fail to get to.

We force so much net front and when it works, great. But when teams are collapsing, we gotta have a plan to open up shooting lanes.

  9. So this tells me Sanders wasn't pleased with us drafting a RB and wants out. Can't blame him, he got brought in to be the guy, struggled, got replaced by a more productive back, and now is threatened by a high round rookie.

Penny will be here to teach the new system and help the transition period, we move Hubbard if he produces well and the rookie can produce similarly with Penny spelling him.

    Smart moves.

Frank, you know what I think about Young’s arm (subpar).

I don’t understand how weight lifting helps get velocity on a throw.

Maybe lower body stuff combined with streamlining and tightening up his mechanics?

So if he strengthens his core, shoulders, and legs, and tightens his mechanics and becomes more intentional with the way he throws the football, the velocity will improve. He's destined to never have a Cam cannon because he doesn't have the length. His stature means he will never have elite level velocity throw to throw, so his decision making has to be above average as well as his predictive timing. The velocity can only be compensated for in this way.
