Im happy for him but also sad to see him go
Same, wish we could've kept him around a bit longer. TD didn't become TD until after the back to back to back season ending injuries. From 2012 on, he was AP, Pro Bowl, and WPMOTY award winner. I was hoping Shaq would follow in that route here and pass the baton to the next generation. But he only got one year with Trevin Wallace, so we'll see.
Either way, happy he's back in the league, and home to where our castoffs go to rejuvenate their careers

#Cowboys Micah Parsons was really upset the Carolina Panthers took WR Tetairoa McMillan.
“That was supposed to be our pick. He was supposed to be opposite CeeDee Lamb.”
Gut punch for Dallas.-

What could we get in a trade of Moton? He has a little age on him, and is starting to get a little nicked up... And we can draft Membou. We get younger at a position of need and gather a few picks in the trade? We are building for the future, and this guy Membou would be a good addition up front.

I think Dan is hoping a team gives him an offer for #8. It feels like (as Mike Kaye just mentioned) there isn't "a guy" they really like at this spot, the top 5 blue chip players will be gone by the time we pick.
I just a Niner headline that they're looking to trade up for (speculated) Armand Membou. So if we trade back to them, 11 isn't that bad if we can get a 3rd this year and a 2nd next year.

here's an interesting scenario....Sanders falls to us and no one wants to trade with us except the Saints (they don't know no one else wants to move up). Do we trade with a division rival? The trade chart value is a late 4th to move up one with us....if they are desperate, they might offer a third, possibly a 2nd this year or next....do we do it? Or do we decline and let them get him anyway with the next pick?
QB is a crap shoot....he's fallen some on a lot of boards, but he could be their long term starter
I'd take a 1st swap, 3rd, and next years 2nd for it.

Just so people get the scenario... there is no good offer to trade down. Assume the phones aren't ringing. Whoever we draft, we draft at 8, reach or not.
Unless Shedeur falls to us, then there may be some phone calls to get ahead of the Saints, like maybe the Steelers.

He got injured after the combine
I see, i thought it had only been discovered at the combine. Still, he's a Fred Warner at worst, and Patrick Willis at best. He's worth it, imho.

I like Campbell alot but isn't he injured?
Seems like most the best choices in this class are, like Abdul Carter. And its not like we havent in recent history taken high draft picks on injured players before. He did almost all his tests still in the combine, and Julio Jones ran his 40 with a broken bone in his foot. So that toughness should be a bonus.

I hate to be that guy that keeps shouting the same name, but Jihaad Campbell would be the perfect centerpiece for this defense for years. And with no Mason Graham or Will Johnson, that's where I'd go.

Jihaad Campbell. I think Dan Morgan would want a version of himself on the field, a center piece that can do it all, including going out on the edge and rush the passer. He'd solidify the middle for years to come. Also, according to PFF, he hit the same amount of sacks as Jalon Walker did in HALF the pass rush snaps. These kinda middle linebackers don't come around often, and with the depth of talent at the edge and dt, we can address those in the following rounds.

Same thing was said about Micah Parsons. We'll see.
For our sake, if we do draft him, I hope you're right.

Aaron Curry 2.0. Some guys check every box and still bust. Just a good reminder that there's no such thing as a sure thing in the draft.
Also a Javon Walker 2.0, all the talent but not a specialist at anything.

1000%. I love it because it brings so much more authenticity to reviewing the player when you have two Panther legends get to talk ball about him. Especially when it lets Morgan take off the GM hat a bit and just talk ball with TD, whom he played with. No disrespect to the media talent they have there, but ball players talking with ball players ABOUT ball players will always get my attention. Hope they can bring Luke in too to complete the triumvirate.

If we do sign one of these safeties, I think it's a good implicator that it opens our options up to pickup an edge in the 1st or 2nd round. There are some good 2nd round prospects at edge, which would give me hope that we'd take Jihaad Campbell with the 8th overall pick then.

Looks like he's getting his shot somewhere else. Oh well, could've been good for development and depth.

Per Tony Pauline: I was told yesterday they (Panthers) really like him (Mykel Williams) a lot. I doubt Jalon Walker is going to be there. I haven't heard the Panthers being on Tyler Warren at this time.

Trying to find some advantages:
- 6'5 260, 34"+ arms, only 21 years old
- Quality run defense. Not elite, but it's up there
- Ceiling is pretty high - sculpt-able if the coaches want him
- Good speed & power combo
Disadvantages:
- Behind developmentally as a pass rusher
- Poor burst - even though he has the size, the athleticism isn't really there you'd expect to see
- No good counters or real PR gameplan, just an aggressive type with no real plan
- May be better suited in a 4-3
- Gets caught sloppy in the upper body, and gets thrown off easily
- Looked lost at times when he was stifled by OLs
- Had a few nagging injuries this past year
- Simply disappeared for long stretches with UGA
This is not a top-10 draft prospect. But if actualizes and we grab him, with some success, I'll gladly eat crow.
Could be an okay complimentary EDGE talent, but isn't a top guy for a team even if he hits his ceiling.
This is why I'm on the Jihaad Campbell train. High ceiling AND high floor, he's a football junky with all the measureables to keep going up from there. If you watch his tape against LSU, and 1st round tackle Will Campbell, showcases what he can become I feel.

Wonder if James Bradberry, since he was released from the Eagles, would wanna make a return back to Carolina on a cap-friendly deal. Either as a corner, or being 32, transitioning into what some older corners do, and go to free safety. Would provide great depth.

I think based on the signings, finding good rotational guys at edge and dline, that they're more confident in that rotation than they are in the backfield, since they only signed a safety and resigned Mike Jack, who was a good place holder.
So at least with the 1st pick, I think they're leaning towards a corner like Will Johnson, or a safety to pair with Moerhig like Malaki Starks or Nick Emmanouri to roundout the defense. Since this draft is so deep with edge and NT help, im sure they're thinking that they can find one in the later rounds that can be part of that rotation. Just a theory.
