"Chaos is a ladder..."

If he's a sample size of what Titans fans are like, then I can't wait to see his draft review

Mine last year was 4.5
This year I wanna agree and say 9.5, but I'm gonna go with 8.5 because of just the ambiguousness of how our offense is gonna go with Darnold. It all really falls to how he adapts and performs.
-
I definitely agree with the Alex Smith comparison, even though I don't have much respect for Cowherd. If he can recover from one team to the next like Smith, Tannehill, Brees, Plummer etc, I'd be stoked. My mantra is 'cautiously optimistic' this season

Hear me out. I know we never invest in left tackles and this is a prime opportunity to do so, but if Kyle pitts and Penei Sewell are gone, would anyone really be MAD about picking Chase? By all accounts he's the best prospect we've seen since julio.
Can you truly be mad taking Julio Jones at 8?
We already have DJ to pay coming up as well as Robby if he stays consistent. Both young and talented 1k receivers. Or Chase could be the next OBJ thats a talented headcase like TO. How many rings has TO, OBJ or Julio won?
It's like if your Madden WR position rating was an 80, would a move to raise it to 85 that much of a difference? Or would you rather raise your Oline or Corner overall average from a 50 to a 70? Something startable that wont get your QB killed so he has time to throw to those wide receivers. I'd rather raise the whole teams average than just make one position raise a few points.

Dream: Sewell, Pitts or Lance
Reality: Slater or Surtain
I think the Tackle class is deep enough that we could go corner in the 1st and tackle in the 2nd, and shore up both weaknesses quickly. But man, I'd love me a mauler like Sewell.

Ever since I've seen this pic of Darnold in a Panthers uniform I've had to double-take a few times haha. I mean, they do have a similar resemblance. Frankly, if someone said that Greg Olsen was in California and needed some quick cash and made a deposit to the sperm bank, I'd give that rumor some weight
Just thought it was a funny observation and thought I'd share my 2 minutes of Photoshop time. Here's hoping Darnold will have a similar career boost from the shitty team prior to the Panthers trading for him.

In what many are saying is one of the best OL drafts in a long time, we're in a prime position to get an elite left tackle prospect that could anchor that spot for the next ten years.
If we come away without that, I'm gonna be really disappointed.
Agreed. We've been desperately needing a Jordan Gross since he retired. It's just been a revolving door at LT and we all saw what happened to the Chiefs OL when both their starting tackles were out.

Sheesh after him going to bat for his brother we're still listening to this clown??
Im kinda surprised they didn't ask Robby Anderson about what he's like as well, since he was in the lockerroom with him for a couple years.

Right on. Way too much revisionist history going on with some people here...it's not hard to understand the process of making the move while also agreeing the results didn't work out.
Where do you see the voidable year though? The third year of the contract isn't voidable, but like you were saying we can get out of it with minimal ($5m) penalty, so this could always be a 2-year contract if we wanted it to be. Didn't want other people seeing "voidable year" and trying to make the contract out to be worse than it really is since it's become such a buzz phrase this year.
Thanks man. And it's the line between 2021 and 2022, it's an opt out year that they gotta decide before the 2022 NFL year starts.

They're not wrong though. Teddy hasn't changed a bit since coming into the league, even on his Saints film, and the results were extremely predictable and I daresay even worse than the mediocrity many saw coming from the outset. It was a poor decision regardless of the money though the money makes it worse given the same highly-predictable results could have been had for much less, full stop.
Aren't you guys tired of playing the same broken record over and again? Can some of you just take a step back and see the big picture, or is it just cuz you picked Bridgewater in the 1st round of your fantasy draft and he cost you money.
It is what it is. It's over, we're all moving on. Catch up.

Honestly, I don't and it has everything to do with the money. He's paid millions. He didn't perform. We haven't sugar coated that. The organization didn't really start airing their disappointment until after Teddy threw the staff under the bus for "not getting the play call in on time" when he missed a wide open DJ in the endzone. There seemed to be a clear shift toward "fug this guy" in regards to Teddy from the organization after that and honestly it's tough to blame them.
And yet Bruce Arians literally threw Tom Brady under the bus multiple times during the season, and they won the Superbowl.
https://www.radio.com/weei/sports/patriots/bruce-arians-seemingly-throws-tom-brady-under-bus-again
We're all human, we make mistakes. It was one time. If it were multiple times then I'd be concerned, but I'm sure they all handled it internally.
Sometimes it spills. It doesn't mean he's a bad person. I'm sure you're not a bad person when you forget to say 'youre beautiful' when you slipped and said 'that's what you're wearing?' and you slept on the couch.
If relationships can mend over one time, and it's not a pattern, then give the man a pass. I'm sure his family is tired of hearing his name slung through the mud so much this offseason. He's human, give him a break.

That's the pot calling the kettle black. Some of you really should learn how to use Google an check your facts first.
The floor price for a starting quarterback is around $20m according to Spotrac https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/rankings/average/quarterback/
Teddy ranks only 16th in average salary, and the only ones below him are Rothlisburger(after a huge restructuring), backups and qb's still under their rookie deal.
$20m might have been top 5 money 10 years ago, but thats just the floor these days. It's called inflation.
We took a calculated gamble because he was familiar with the system Brady was installing, and did well in it the year prior going 5-0. It didn't work. Life sucks, get over it.
You can cry in your beers all you want, but some of you armchair GM's need to check your facts first and start looking at the team long term.
Bridgewater has a voidable year after this year, and we're about 1 year away from being a complete team. But the bricks are being put in their place, and theres a light at the end of the tunnel.
I know it's hard to be patient when your definition of success is a Superbowl or we're trash, so you might wanna start lowering your expectations and get with the process, otherwise you're always gonna be disappointed.

His coaching staff and teammates are also human beings. Once he threw them under the bus I have no problem with anybody going in on Teddy. He is less than the great person he is made out to be.
Just doing a quick google search, i found this article with this quote:
“It’s just a throw that I’ve got to make,” Bridgewater said after reviewing film. “When DJ pops open behind those linebackers, I’ve just got to make that throw.
“When I play well, and my energy is there, this team plays well. I’ve just got to continue to be consistent with the energy I bring on Sunday.”
https://www.charlotteobserver.com/sports/nfl/carolina-panthers/article247523595.html
This has been his attitude from the get, team first. At least from what I've seen and read. But hey, I may have missed something, so can you point to me a link or whatnot of when he threw the team under the bus?

I would be absolutely thrilled if we trade Teddy. Idc if we don’t have a backup plan, just get rid of the dude.
Also the guy who tweeted this is having Adam Corolla on his radio show, so he must be legit
I don't get why most of you poo on Teddy so much. You act like he's DeMarcus Russell or Manziel. You act like he's worse than Jimmy Clausen.
His numbers aside, he's a human being that's a good person, smart and good role model that could mentor a rookie, like qb like Alex Smith did for Mahomes.
But hey, you do you.

Below is a comprehensive list of QBs drafted in the top 5 that were traded up for:
Sam Darnold
Mitchell Trubisky
Carson Wentz
Jared Goff
Robert Griffin III
Mark Sanchez
Michael Vick
Ryan Leaf
Jeff George
Steve BartkowskiDon't reach!
Josh Allen = the exception to the rule
Which also led to the Chiefs trading up for Mahomes

Pretty much. I still have my favorite tho.
Not at all happy to hear Mac in the mix way earlier than I feel comfortable with.
Same. I'm hoping maybe it's a strategy Rhule is using to get some team to trade ahead of them for Mac Jones instead of taking a qb we want. At least, that's what my tin foil hat says.

Russell Wilson didn’t sit at all behind Flynn. Other then that I agree with your post and thanks for putting the time into this.
True, I just meant as an example that they all were meant to sit and learn behind these other quarterbacks. They signed Matt Flynn for a huge contract because they thought he was gonna be the starter, who knew Russell would be who he was?

I was more defending Fields. Most people are not good at public speaking. To assume they lack character as a result probably isn't wise.
That's fair, I meant more in terms of showing signs of leadership and confidence was what I was focusing on. Definitely not character.
And to be fair, I did say in the beginning that I had no horse in this race and would be happy with any of the top 4. Only saying that after watching their press conferences, I'm now leaning more towards Trey Lance. Who's to say Fields isn't the guy, but it's just my impression right now.
Even watching Fields on the sidelines, in the "huddle", I just thought he was more stoic or introverted. But now idk, there is something to be said about charisma and being able to rally the troops when the game is on the line at halftime, and to me he doesn't give me that impression.

That roster was a shell of itself from when Brady was there. They went all out for Brady year after year and that poo catches up to you. Brady sucked them dry and then went to Tampa and stacked the roster there. Brady is great a great player but he’s always played on great teams.
I'd argue that he made them great by his example, standards and work ethic. They threw throwaway wide receivers to him every year that they signed in free agency that made household names for themselves. A high tide raises all boats.

I think this is a good angle. Answering questions smoothly and quickly shows how you can process things quickly. It's a small sample but never less a sample.
Exactly. It's not the be all, end all. It's all purely speculation and gut feelings. I do put some stock in press conferences. I think how you handle yourself and adversity in press conferences can set the tone for your franchise.

You need to factor in the fields interviews where zoom... that’s a totally different experience to standing up in front of people
Fair enough. Here's a press conference pre COVID-19.
Now, if you didnt know which one was a quarterback, and only heard their voices, who would you think is the quarterback and leader of the team? Starts at 5:00
Hidden Gem on Day 3? Simi Fehoko, WR from Stanford
in 2023 NFL Draft
Posted
Like probably most of you, I've been watching more tape on players, and specifically on some of the later round quarterbacks just to see what potential is out there.
So while I was watching some game tape of QB David Mills from Stanford... this guy just kept popping off the screen, so much that I finally looked him up and started to just watch him, and it was really hard NOT to like the kid.
6'3 and 222 lbs, posting a 4.37 and 4.42 40-speed (he looks faster on tape), and makes acrobatic catches in ways that reminded me of Smitty. Just some crazy ball awareness and control. You listen to his interviews and he's got a good head on his shoulders too.
ProFootballNetwork rates him as an early Day 3 https://www.profootballnetwork.com/simi-fehoko-nfl-draft-player-profile-stanford-wide-receiver/
PFF algorithm compares him to Hank Baskett, but I think he could be so much more. https://www.pff.com/news/draft-2021-nfl-draft-comps-stanford-cardinal-wr-simi-fehoko
I know some have brought up maybe taking a receiver with the 1st pick. I'm not in that camp, but I would be pretty happy if we could get him in the 3rd round cutoff like we did with Chinn just to make sure.
I'm not sure why the projections on him are Day 3, so I may be missing something. But see for yourself! What do you think?
