  1. It's 60 days and incredibly tough cardio. Tougher than the original Insanity.

ok, so I work a 2 week swing shift. And when I'm on days I find it really terribly hard to workout on the days I work but feel like I should be doing something.

Does this workout require any equipment other then the video and yourself?? And do you think it will be fine to break from on the days I can actually get to the gym?

I'm going to be strength building for the next month and then am hitting hard core cardio for the next 3 heading to my 70.3 ironman.

Trying to head off the muscle loss that will come from the cardio by building now. I've lost a lot of wieght before but lost a lot of muscle when I did. Trying hard to avoid this time.

  2. On the workout plan I've been working on, today was a heavy day for me working on chest and triceps. and looking at the workout l was skeptical, but right now I'm having a hard time doing 5 push ups and my arms are feeling like they're about to fall off so a good day it was haha

  3. Cold is relative. Get moisture wicking clothes so the sweat doesn't cool you too much, and put some fabric over your nose/mouth so your breath retains moisture and you don't get that burning in your lungs.

its been raining and icing out here, if it was just the cold Id be fine
  4. 2 weeks in and I'd say so far so good. I can tell I've made some improvements at the gym and may have lost some weight and trimmed a bit but it's hard to tell with water weight and the sups I'm taking.

I need to be working my core more but I think I got a good upper body and arms workout going.

I did get comped 5 free workouts with my local cross fit gym because of work. Thinking about trying it out, but wasn't planning on cross fit till after I did my 70.3 ironman this year.

I'm 6'1 195 right now. I want 180-175 by end of May. Should lose most my weight when I start going hardcore cardio the last 3 months leading to the race.

I just wish weather was better so I could run right now.

  5. Serious questions. How often do you drink protein shakes?

I'm taking one after every workout which right now is 4-5 times a week. But I'm not trying to put on muscle mass, just trying to improve strength. Trying to cut about 20 pounds before the end of May by doing it the slow way with minimal dieting. Basically no sodas and limit carbs.

  6. Today I start my new fitness goals and training for 2015, finish line is the Raleigh 70.3 ironman at the end of May.

Basically I want to lose 20 pounds and finish the race, don't care about place, I just want to finish!

    Let's see how this goes!

  7. I'm starting to hit the gym heavy again but it isn't because of some New Years resolution, it's because I run and bike more in the spring and summer and in the winter I hit the gym, it's a vicious cycle but I am already down 7% body fat since this same time last year.

I'm trying to cut weight without cutting muscle which may be the hardest thing in the world to do, very slow process.

  8. So been warming up the last few weeks for my annual dive into the gym for winter, looking forward to it. I made a lot of progress last winter and am looking forward to making more.

During the summer I usually do more running and biking because I already feel like I spend enough time inside with work. But I haven't been able to run for the last month because of a stress fracture in my left foot so two more weeks and I should be good.

The not running is driving me batty, but two more weeks so oh well :-P

  9. Holy eff. Just threw out my lower back putting down weight at the gym. I've never felt anything like this before.

Fugging pos body, couldn't take better care of the damn thing and I can just tell it's about done. 26 years old. Roman Harper syndrome.

yeah I slipped a disc 4 years ago(I'm 28 now) and fug me! That was the most painful thing ever!
  10. The spartan beast is 12+ miles with 28+ obstacles. I think ours is close to 13 especially since there was a large gap between mile marker two and my marker three that was definitely further than a mile.

I was supposed to do a color race in Wilmington this past September but we decided to do a different race instead.

  11. So I ran the Spartan Beast this past Saturday, probably one of the more challenging things I've done to date, I'm still very sore and tired 2 days later.

And for the record I really did run the whole damn thing, a lot of people walk it. I even ran when the obstacle included carrying something heavy. On the one where you had to drag a concrete block with a chain I was yelling like it was a dog, telling it to hurry up.

  12. I ran 10 miles Saturday and I'm averaging 20 miles per week right now. Pounds lost = 0. Like Biscuit said I'm starving all the time and I'm having trouble sleeping at night due to hunger. I'm trying to just stay positive on the fact that my running is going well. I really only have about 10lbs to lose at this point anyway so it's not that big of a deal.

Ive hit a bit of a wall right now, I've lost weight before, went from 275-170 because of eating right and running. But went back to school 3 years ago and then a swing shift career job a year ago and got back up to 217, I've lost right about 20 pounds since April and am sitting at 197 right now, been running a bunch and started road biking. Really would like to get back down to 170 again but just can't seem to lose weight right now, this has to be the worse plateau I've ever hit :-P

I am eating with the intent of losing weight but not muscle mass because when I went from 275-170 I probably lost 30 pounds of muscle and don't want to do that this time around so I've been eating lots of protein, very limited carbs, no junk food or soda and limit calorie intake. Been told a few times this month that I look like I've lost weight. But on the scale I haven't lost a thing. Don't think I feel like I've put on any muscle either so who the hell knows what's going on.

Btw for size ref I'm 6'1 with a big frame, I actually look pretty decent right now. But just want to get down to 170 because I want to get more into further distance running and I want to do an full iron man in 18 months.
