This next coaching hire doesn't matter. He'll be here a season and a half, tied to Bryce. When BY is a clear failure they'll ditch this coach and draft a QB again.
Sorry. I wish I could see it differently, but I don't.
Three coaches have already been fired due to BY. When Frank was fired there were rumors that several coaches wanted to bench BY and play Dalton. I think we know which coaches wanted to do that…..
As long as Tepper continues to influence and meddle football decisions the Panthers will continue to be a doormat.

CJ should have been the pick but I could also see Levis and AR having a better career than Bryce. Bryce seems like a good dude but early results are he does not have “it”. The other thing not discussed a lot is how long it will take the Panthers to replace DJ Moore. That was a huge lose to this offense.

CJ Stroud: “I’m not a test taker, I’m a football player”.

If Tepper is dumb enough to hire Belichick, does it cost the Panthers draft picks?
-
About the only smart thing Tepper has said is he announced he would no longer stand for mediocrity. He passed this with flying colors. The Panthers are not even close to being mediocre. Well done Tepper, well done.

Reich was just as much a problem. His coaching was terrible. Even with Sunday, the team almost winning two in a row is better than anything Frank did.
Also, what kind of balls does he have to not convince Tepper that Stroud is the guy? If you know Young cannot win, you convince the rest of the staff. Every article and interview from February to right after the draft had the staff on Young. It wasn’t until the preseason poo went straight into regular season that the CYA started.
I am of the opinion that no HC would be successful in the current environment. The Panthers are owned by a meddling owner who does not let his football people make decisions without him being involved.

I was always against the trade up. The team had too many holes and giving up the best WR since 89 was incredibly stupid. But then to pick a unicorn on top of that was really poor planning. It is obvious that Reich disagreed with the brain trust and why he is gone. Seeing the team after his firing makes it clear he was not the problem. The meddling owner is along with his hired yes men.

It is possible the NFL punishes Tepper by taking draft picks from the Panthers …..not that they have a lot to give.
-
It is very clear why the Panthers have been a significant failure since Tepper bought the team.
-
Maybe if he was left handed…..
-
I think the Panthers will have to build via free agency due to trading away so many valuable draft picks. There are so many holes it is impossible to fill them with the draft. The key is getting the right GM and HC…..and making sure they are strong enough to tell Tepper to back off.

If Fitterer doesn’t go, it does not matter who the HC is
Very true. And in addition to this, Tepper needs to stay out of the football operations, and let his football people make decisions without him meddling.

Bell may have been better actually
Isn’t it sad that we’re comparing Bell to our first round draft pick. I honestly don’t know how Fitt still has a job. It’s sad to say that Marty Hurney was significantly better than Fitt

On the last third downplay, I saw receivers open. I just don’t think BY is seeing the field.

Today I’m noticing that when young throws the ball, he jumps up

I’m having a flashback of Byron Bell at left tackle

Never seen a less capable third and long team and yet we always finding ways to put ourselves in that position.
The old Fox draw play on third and long would work better than what we see now

It is amazing at just how bad Fitterer has been. The scary part is he is still the GM. The unknown is if Tepper is forcing the decisions but even so Fitterer is still quilty for not pushing back. This guy makes a lot of money to build a team and each year the team has gotten worse. Tepper can keep hiring and firing coaches but if the team lacks talent that is on the GM and scouts.

Hurney first-round picks:
2002 - Julius Peppers
2003 - Jordan Gross
2004 - Chris Gamble
2005 - Thomas Davis
2006 - DeAngelo Williams
2007 - Jon Beason
2008 - Jonathan Stewart, Jeff Otah
2011 - Cam Newton
2012 - Luke Kuechly
2017 - DJ Moore
2018 - Brian Burns
2019 - Derrick Brown
If there's a hall of fame for first-round drafters, Marty Hurney would be a first-year selection lol.Now do Fitterer:
2021: Horn
2022: icky
2023: Young
Ironic part of the 2020 draft. It was rumored that Hurney wanted to trade up for a QB….Herbert. But was voted down by the brain trust they thought Teddy was the answer. Also rumored that Rhule wanted Henderson. So Hurney picked Brown.

Is that really true though? We have have 2nd, 3rd, 4th, (2) 5th, 6th. Top of each round in 2, 3,4.
We should absolutely expect 1 starter and 1-2 additional contributors from that. This is Fitts biggest problem , he has drafted like poo (and traded) and we have no depth because of it.
These team has more holes than draft picks so I think free agency is key. Unless they trade Burns.
WR, LB, DL, TE, OL for sure. Also would like to see some QB competition.- 1

I am sure someone will take/want the job. The question is will any top candidates want it. He will have to build the team via free agency vs draft.
The new HC needs to be a strong leader and be able to stand up for his program and decisions against Tepper. For whatever reason it does not appear Frank was able to do this. Rhule was just not an NFL coach.

I was listening to ESPN radio this morning with Greenie. They were talking about the best HC openings. Carolina was last…and not even close. They were joking they would rather coach Coastal Carolina than the Panthers. Primary reason- the owner. Tepper has a terrible reputation and all of the recent Hunger Games talk has made it worse. The number one problem with the Panthers is Tepper. I think it is telling that he fired Frank but not Fitterer. Fitterer is the GM and has been for over 3-years. This team has significantly less talent now than in 2020. Each year the team has gotten worse and that is a bi-product of bad decisions made by the Panthers leadership. Fitterer must be in tune with Tepper or he would have been canned with Frank.
