I was thinking back about 12-years ago when the Panthers started Byron Bell at LT and Nate Chandler at RT. Those were the days. Cam was running for his life.

The only way the Panthers offense can be 'average' is if they run the football. They need big, athletic lineman to be able to do this. Bryce is not a 'Cam QB' that can take over a game and clearly has physical limitations. That is why they went out and got two mauling guards and paid a huge price for them. Moton is aging and has had some knee issues. Ickey will probably never play LT again. This was a solid pick. Can you imagine 2015 Cam with this O-Line?

If stories are true, 89 was not allowing Cam lead the team. His prickly attitude and personality was growing old and was a distraction. It was addressed but nothing changed. He was being difficult and there are reports he was not supporting his young QB. It was Cam or 89, and the Panthers correctly chose Cam.

NFL= Not for long. I believe the statistic is the average NFL career lasts only four years. Icky just played his 4th year. If he does not come back, he will not be the first Panthers high OL draft pick to have a shortened career due to injury. See Otah and Bruce Nelson. If Morgan is smart, he does not count on Icky coming back as a LT in 2027 and possibly not coming back as a guard either. Anything is possible but the odds are not good.

We did have a QB like Darnold. Actually we had two of them at the same time. And an impatient owner AND incompetent GM pushed to dump both and then trade up in the 2023 draft by giving up multiple draft picks and our #1 WR

I agree…Defense and running the football….old Foxy had it right. Unfortunately the new NFL often negates great defense with questionable rules and subjective officiating. Player safety important but you have to let them play.

Just pretend that Coker was a late first rounder and XL was an UDFA. And pretend MJ- Jackson was a 7th round pick. Brooks- does not look good as of now but let’s see what happens this season.

I just re-watched the Panthers/Seahags game from 2015. That was a special team. Talk about Big Time Throws…that #1 guy was “pretty good”! He and Olsen had a great connection. And J.Stew…none of the current RB are even close to his running style.

Tepper has a terrible reputation and at the time just fired a HC after 10-games. He has burned through several HC in his tenure as our beloved owner. When there are better options available, a qualified HC is not going to choose Carolina. This is why the top names were never an option for the Panthers. Canales is now set for life….and Tepper will just keep churning coaches as he strives to end”mediocrity’. The irony is since he has been the owner, the Panthers have been one of the worst teams in the NFL and being mediocre would be an upgrade

Stroud should have been the pick. The NFL is a big man’s game and Bryce is too small to be a consistent winner.

Am I remembering correctly that Nicole Tepper put pressure on Canales to trade up to get XL? Seems like there was a video being played during the draft that showed her asking Canales 'would you trade up to draft a player I like'. Canales had a funny look on his face, like I cannot believe this. And they traded up and got the roadkill chef.

Only way BY does not get a 5th year option/and extension is if the Tepper's approve. I do not think Dan Morgan and Dan Canales have the final decision on this.
