I don't have time to respond to everyone that quoted me.
First of all idk why all of you have mentioned when I registered my account, like this is HS or something. How long someone's been registered here? Really weird.
The reason we ask that is because of how long I have been doing this. If you have been around long enough you would know. It's not a click or reputation thing.
There is no way on God's green earth Bryce is qb1? Lol I don't even understand that statement.-

I can see Young being left in the green room on Draft night. He's just so damn small.
There is a less than 1% chance of that happening.

I Keep coming back to that video of McCown breaking down film of CJ Stroud with Josh Norris. And he really seemed to like him at that point.
what is the likelihood he falls to 3? Or you think we would need to get to 1 if we wanted him as he could go before pick 3
I don't get the sense the Texans would pass on him for Richardson, so I guess it ultimately depends who it taken number one.

We were never going to pay Carr that much. I think there was legitimate interest at the right price, but it realistically was never going to happen. If anything kudos for making the Saints rush and overpay for him.

Tanking the opening season with the coaching regime we have would be a really bad way to kick things off and leave moral corrupted to the point it may never corrupt. There are a lot of our coaches who already have their hat in the ring for a head coaching job next year, so even being just a bad idea in general, it would sit very poorly with literally everyone in the building.

If you had to compile these two lists (strictly based on how you view(ed) them as prospects, not considering the rookie seasons for those drafted last season), how would you arrange the 10 QBs listed in the OP?
I did an article on this actually! It went back two years. Hasn't been published yet but I believe it was
1. Lawrence
2. Young
3. Stroud
4. Richardson
5. Wilson
6. Fields
7. Lance
8. Jones
9. Pickett
I flip flop on Stroud and Richardson a lot. It is a continuous development.-

That isn’t the Panthers is it. Because I know one of the guys at the draftnetwork mentioned he heard around there early in the week that the Panthers really liked Levis.
Lol no it is not

No offense but those QB rankings for the last two years are an atrocious attempt at being edgy. It's like you know what the actual rankings should be but instead list them in a way that will cause response.
Second of all, I don't remember you ever having an draft insight or free agency scoops. All I remember is you acting like you knew something about us landing Deshaun and saying "any day now" over and over.
I will play insider too, we're trading up for Stroud. Spoiler alert. Sorry. It's a done deal. Make sure to tune in next year for more insider info.
1. I spend literally hours scouting these guys and come away with my own opinions. It is literally my job to do so and I have a few years of experience doing so. I have hits and misses just like everyone else.
2. How long have you been around? I have been doing this since 2012. I was pretty on point with most of the Watson stuff idk. Obviously we didn't ultimately land him but it's not like we weren't in the race until the last minute. If Tepper gave him that guaranteed money that Cleveland did he would be a Panther.-

Hi Verge! Thanks for posting. I imagine the Panthers would have to decide that they will take at least one of three QBs if they move to #3, where #1 would mean they are in love with one player.
So it seems to me that the panthers would have to give up a big time player if they moved up--someone like Derrick Brown if they wanted to get the Bear's attention. I think the Bears need WR, OL, and DL...
It seems that the Colts will move up to #1, the Panthers to #3--competing with the Raiders, Falcons, possibly the Seahawks--so the question is (and I don't think you have heard much as of this date):
- Who are the colts and Texans in love with?
- What do you know about Hooker?
- Are 4 QBs going in the top 8 picks (opinion)?
toodles
1. I will talk to my Houston beat writer and dig more into it, but they seem like a Stroud team
2. I think teams are mixed on him. There is a lot of risk in a 25 year old coming off a major injury from a gimmick offense, but he clearly has a nice skill set. I think he will ultimately go in the third.
3. I think that is a real possibility -

Seems like everyone is setting in on those three as the top ones, but far from a consensus on the order.
Levis seems like he's on a downward slide, though. It might just be my imagination, but I could see him taking a Brady Quinn size slide.
I know at least one person who has Levis as their QB1. That was pretty far from my deduction but to each their own.

I am a huge Jones fan personally but I don't see this happening lol. Both Tepper and Reich are tired of retreads.

It's that time of the year again! I will keep everything in this thread for ease of everyone. I have been doing a lot of work on the draft and have done a lot of film study. I still have contact with my guy but it has been limited of late as I am busier and busier with life, but thanks so much for your patience! I will drop tidbits I hear about free agency, and the draft here when I can.
Last years QB rankings:
1. Malik Willis
2. Matt Corral
3. Kenny Pickett
4. Desmond Ridder
5. Sam Howell
This years QB rankings:
1. Bryce Young
2. Anthony Richardson
3. CJ Stroud
4. Will Levis
5. Hendon Hooker
From what I have heard so far that I have said as much on my twitter account and many people of echoed without my voice is that Carolina is keen on moving up to find a quarterback. #3 seems like the most likely landing spot, but you cannot count #1. It will obviously be tough to move Chicago down that far as they still want an elite player at the position, and moving down with the Colts would allow them to have their pick of Tyree Wilson, Will Anderson, or whoever else they may want.
Please feel free to drop any questions you may have here! I will try my best to get to them, and I appreciate the support!-

Just my opinion..
The waiting on next year plan is a failed proposition.. Because nobody can predict next year prospects anymore.. NiL, Injuries and just having a bad season has changed that..
Absolutely. The number of "tank for Sam Howells" lives in my mind a lot lol

Mainly though I have been working for USA Today full time and during draft season I am particularly busy because I built their entire scouting platform. I watch hours and hours of tapes on guys and type of reports on them and then condense it for public consumption. I also still have my child in the hospital so my time to do things online is limited.-

You cannot sit on your hands at the position anymore, move up and get one of the three guys we know they like. You might get lucky like you did with Ekwonu and your favorite falls into your hands. Need to find the answer sooner rather than later.

Okay I understand this plan on boundaries..
But it doesn’t live in reality..
1. Who knows if next year QB class will be that good.. Both Williams and Maye have another year of eligibility.. With NIL they can easily go back to school and get paid..
2. There has only been 3 recognized perfect QB prospects Lawrence, Luck, and Elway in the history of the nfl draft.. everybody else had ? Marks.. So this draft is no different from the Burrows, Mahomes, or Allen drafts.. Add in the fact that if there are “better prospects “ in next years draft.. It’s almost a certainty that the teams with those picks aren’t trading away their chance at getting those guys..
3. If you have any faith in this new staff.. You also must know that this team will be better and won’t be in position next year to get a QB.. If you believe we made good decisions in the coaching then you must believe this team will be to good to get a QB next year.. So reality is it will cost more to go get 1 next year.. right??
The opinions on next years QBs are a lot more varied than this year honestly. Like yes, Williams is a consensus top guy, but outside of that there is a variation of grades on everyone else. You are on the mark with point one.

she just posted a mock where we were drafting a corner at 9. Yeah man she is dialed into the panther organization
A mock with zero trades that I was asked to make interesting. I feel like Carolina will be moving up for a quarterback in this draft, just like everyone else does.

I doubt Carr would except anything less than a multi-year deal as the guy for the next five or so years.

Burrows, Allen, nor Mahomes we’re seen as elite Prospects. That’s 3 of the top 5 in the league looked at like the QB’s in this draft..
Burrow and Josh Allen were definitely viewed as elite prospects.

@Verge…it’s almost draft time and I don’t follow social media much. I really value your QB evaluations each draft season. Please post us links to your efforts here. There are some really polarizing opinions on these QBs so would be interested in your rankings and analysis.
Yeah of course! I start all the draft wire stuff next month so I will be sure to also send it your way.

Verge's 2023 Draft general
in 2023 NFL Draft
Posted
I would think it would be before the start of FA. Depends on how Poles plays hardball.
Some of the things he does on tape is ridiculous. He isn't on a great team and he looks like the best player on the field constantly. Is he a top tier rhythm passer? Not really, but his off platform throws, football IQ, and raw athleticism is worth investing in. He is built for the NFL and can legitimately be the next Josh Allen. I really don't think he needs a year or development either.
