I'm not a fan of the "tinkering" honestly, but I'll wait and see what happens.

Well, all I can say: itā€™sĀ time to stop giving Sam and Baker equalĀ reps at this point. Mayfield has acquitted himself nicely so far, in short order, time to move forward and let Sam and CorralĀ startĀ splitting those backupĀ repsĀ up. I get it, competition, now, letā€™s start getting down toĀ business. I gave Sam a really good lookĀ too. Thereā€™s just not anything jumping out asĀ significantly better. Going to be interesting to see how it looks on Friday and Saturday.

Itā€™s a minefield of Paul BlartsĀ checking people for cell phones, soĀ I just pretty much gave up on filming anything, andĀ started doodling lol. Honestly, Iā€™m learning more from these practices by just putting the goddamn phone down for periods of time. Turbo tweeting through each rep is just unsustainable for me.

High praise for the O-line šŸ˜

Itā€™s almost as if they actually signedĀ a couple of rock solid starting caliber players to start on the interior. I know theyā€™re doing a lot of tinkering at left tackle,Ā but nothing comes close to the messĀ I saw unfolding atĀ camp last year

  4. Whatā€™s up everybody. Hope yā€™all haveĀ had a great summer. Billy is on vacation this week, but Iā€™ll be putting out a new podcast each day chronicling that morningā€™s practice session.Ā

Today was fairly general inĀ scope (I was only on site for an hour), but hopefully you can gain some insight from this episode.

More episodes throughout the week. Itā€™s been an interesting group to watchĀ so far.

Remind me, who were 6 and 15?Ā

I'm thinking 6 was Testaverde but I could be wrong.

(probably gonna feel dumb if you answer with a name I should have known)

6 has nothing to do with a Panthers, Iā€™ve just never found it to be a great number for a quarterback. Vinny (a guy I liked, all things considered)Ā was 16.Ā

Again, none of these are dealbreakers,Ā Iā€™m just enjoying being a part of this chat lol.Ā

    Clausen, Weinke and others?

Yeah, I guess. I like 13, but I know a lot of people have superstitions about that number. Jimmy and Chris didnā€™t do much for their respective numbers, thatā€™s for sure. 19 is just a crappy quarterback number. Unitas was a goatĀ but other than that, itā€™s just a bad aesthetic.

  7. Numbers I irrationally donā€™t likeĀ for QBā€™s:Ā

    2, 6, 15, 16, 19.Ā

Frank Reich saves 14 from my sh*tlist.Ā

Again, highly relevant, impactfulĀ peak-July 11 content from me here.Ā

That came fromĀ Ivan The Awesome.

Iā€™ve given credit a couple of times from people who post funny stuff here. Iā€™ve seen a few people talk about it, and it crossed my mind last night, but props to Ivan. Looks like he was on this first.Ā

  9. For whatĀ itā€™s worth, the Browns are in no hurry, nor should they be, do much of anything with Mayfield. Doubt they end up cutting him. Doesnā€™t sound like a robust market, but it does appear Carolinaā€™s interest is legit, and has been for a while. Hopefully, they donā€™t outbidĀ themselves for a QB for the third consecutive offseason.

I really doubt Darnold ends up in the deal. Doesn't make sense for the Browns to take him.Ā

Generally, I agree with that. I donā€™t truly think itā€™s going to work out that way, just throwing out some potential scenarios, if indeed CarolinaĀ wants to try to move him off the roster without eating his (entire)Ā salary.Ā

Paying the same amount I could deal with.

Us paying more of Darnold's salary than Cleveland pays of Mayfield's though would feel like we lost the staring contest.

For what itā€™s worth, I donā€™t think itā€™s likely Sam gets traded anywhere, but I do think they have some degree of interest in finding a way to unload his cap hit, or at least a portion of it. I also think itā€™s a decent idea to just move ahead with Darnold, Corral, and stay true to the ā€œpatienceā€ mantra. But, if they want to acquire Baker, while unloading Sam, thereā€™s some complexity to that, and Iā€™m not certain itā€™s all worth itā€”just fromĀ my view.

I'm not doubting Dunlap still can get it done, my problem is it's a band aid on a gunshot wound. Yes, it will help somewhat in the short term, but what about down the road?Ā  This team is in a long term rebuild and these one or two-year deals with FAs isn't going to get it done.Ā  Hired mercenaries aren't in the long term interest of the organization.

FYI, I almost stopped in at the Ingles in Powersville to see you last week on the way home from work, but I had a hot dinner waiting on me.Ā  If you are on location again around me, I'll pop in to say hi!

Yea, if the contact is reasonable, he can give the team value. Not a bad run defender, either. Stout (6-5+, 280-ish)Ā

Hate we missed ya in Pville! Weā€™ll be back on the road in July. Will let u know.

I mean itā€™s starting to sound like itā€™s gonna be something dumb. Probably nothing that improves the team.Ā

It has nothing to do with player personnel, Coaching, front office. Just get your headspace out of that area code,Ā and itā€™sĀ going to save you some grief later.
