Please feel free to share one where you called Fitterer out for being a horrific GM here....that isn't focused on him going behind Frank's back.

and you should of fired Fitterer w/ Rhule because the era was nothing but bad.  Comedy stupid bad.  It's a pointless gamble to guess how much was Rhule's fault vs Fitterer....and then argue because you opted to blame Rhule for more than his fare that meant Fitterer somehow wasn't bad during that window.  Fitt didn't have the resume for that type grace to be applied.

Things often aren't that complicated.  People pretend things are overly complicated often though.

Panthers have been pretty easy to figure out the last several years.  What went wrong and frankly what is going wrong in real time.

Hindsight is always 20/20, sure, but keeping Fitterer was definitely a mistake.  At the time I was willing to give him a chance and that was the incorrect move.

I think some of us thought his FA acquisitions maybe were good and that his wheeling and dealing was exciting, and that there was a chance that people like TMJ would pan out.

fug do his drafts look atrocious now, and while we're lucky to have Luvu, we're probably going to let him walk chasing a contract for Brian "what do you expect me to do, tackle a running back?" Burns

Did the team we watched last night (specifically, the one that started the season 10-1 only to finish like they did) look like something you'd want to emulate?

If you watched that dreck and said "you know, we need to hire people from there" I can't help you.

how do you figure a GM / front office person has anything to do with that...?  the Eagles have a stacked roster, talent-wise.

Which is fine, if everyone stops acting like he is a godly qb. He had a nice Dak/Mac/Baker rookie year

He has an argument for having the best rookie QB season of all time. Dak also is in that argument but was on a good offense on a team one season removed from a 12-4 record.

Strouds Jets game is every Bryce game. The one game stroud is running for his life, he goes 10/23 for 90  yards and a concussion to top it off.

I seriously doubt any other qb would have made it thru the season in Charlotte. The two other horrible OL’s - NYG and TEN have had a Qb carousel. Levis and Jones made it 5-6 games

Stroud had a couple of bad games but was sacked 3, 4, and 5 times in the three games before the Jets game and still threw a total of 900 yards with 6 total TDs... Stroud was hit very frequently and still performed. Let's not act like he had some godly OL.

The problem with Slowik is the problem Johnson had last year. First year play callers don’t expect to be offered head coaching jobs, so they don’t have support staffs. That’s the first question asked in interviews “who can you bring with you?”.

Good thing Tepper looks like he wants to assemble the rest of the next HCs staff...

I guess that I just listen and read different things than other people---admittedly my wife says that I'm truly fanatical about the NFL. People have discussed Collins breaking out for the last couple of seasons. He was never an unknown quantity to NFL types.

People have said the same exact thing about Chark, TMJ, etc. remember the offseason posts about how TMJ had like the highest average yards per catch over some period?

The point is Nico didn't break out until Stroud...

I mean, people can say what they want. What I don't understand is why some of you are acting like they aren't a more talented team over all, particularly on offense. Both can be true: Stroud is better, but their other players are better as well.

I scoff at the person that doesn't acknowledge that Nico Collins is an excellent receiver. Dude runs great routes and gets open. And Tank Dell is on IR. Their TEs are legitimately competitive. They're just the better team. Stroud and his delivery of the rock, as well as excellent coaching, just makes it work.

Nobody would have mistaken Nico Collins for a true difference maker before Stroud... Before the season started plenty of people thought our weapons were better than theres...

  8. The irony of the OSU qb argument being more true for most of the recent Bama QBs is not lost on me.

Hurts isn't a flop and neither is Tua.  The question is if either can play at a high enough level consistently to push their team over the top.  I suspect Hurts can, but I don't think Tua can.

So far the people that are coping are the ones trying to make Stroud vs Bryce a thing. Houston is a better team after being in the same spot for the last 3 years as the panthers. Things can change in this league quicker than people think here.

Get the right QB and coach things legit turn overnight.

    Yeah I am out

    What was that one?

At the start of the season, WR was clearly weaker as we never replaced DJ.  Other than that, I don't think that assessment is wrong if you ignore injuries.

In the end, the team was much worse, but that's a combination of injuries and our offense being atrocious because QB was so, so much worse than anticipated.

Teams did not have to try to score very often on us they would score quickly then run the ball alot to run the clock down.  If an opposing team scored 10 points the rest of the game they could sit on the lead and just burn the clock.  I cant remember them coming up with many goal line stops or big 4th down stops or a ton of takeaways.

This logic is flawed.  We had the 4th best defense in the league in scoring D in the 1st quarter, allowing barely over a field goal. If you were right, we'd be worst in the 1st. We weren't... We were worst as a game went on and we lost field position battle, because teams would eventually just start at mid field lol.

Plus... Another issue is that our offense scored among the most points for other teams of any team and our defensive starting field position was among the worst... We had a very good 3rd down rate on D, low yards per play.

Now our rushing D was atrocious for sure. But we didn't have the pieces for Evero's D and had a TON of injuries.  It's why I don't think this is a great defense but think he did a good job as a coordinator despite that.

This is easily the most depressing time in franchise history to be a Panthers fan. It feels utterly hopeless.

As many of us feared, Tepper taking responsibility was for the "wrong hires" not for being involved as he was.

    Ah well.

And who would that we be,Tepper? Why would they block him anyway? The man has earned his money here and if he's not in consideration for the HC then he has a right to seek employment wherever he wants. And would not blame him if he told Tepper to piss off.

I have heard teams will block interview requests on the part of the candidate if the candidate doesn't want to upset potential future employers...

It would be very shitty if he is being disallowed from interviewing while wanting to leave.  Forcing him to work with a new HC wouldn't be fair...

where is this rumor coming from?

I suspect it's just message board insider talk.  We'll never really know.

I would say I'd be a little surprised if Morgan was just a yes man push over in a general sense.

Edit: I don't know which poster (s) but someone has said their contact said Morgan has stood up to Tepper (whatever that means).

  15. 2 hours ago, PghPanther said:

No way........either he was a yes man and didn't see the nightmare created............or lack the balls to stand up in what was going on................or had too many hits to head in his playing days to be aware of everything..............he should be shown the door.

But then again............what's the point of showing people the door when it never hits the Teppers in the ass.

The NFL has to show them the door.

This is a business and he ultimately is an employee. There is only so much he can do.  Supposedly he stood up to Tepper in meetings and he's worked with very good GMs in other places...

Who cares if we can interview them from today?

We don't currently have a GM, so who is conducting said interviews? Nicole?

    Maybe that outside firm?

Edit: I would imagine the Tepper's and Morgan are in some stage of interviews, probably this initial one.
