  1. Plus, there's a ton of teams that are bad with a qb and surrounded with good talent, look at Teddy and Drew Lock, David Carr, The Seahawks overdraft players a round early every year, that's why they are struggling now and their star QB wants to exercise his power. He absolutely can expect the organization to do their jobs and surround him with talent and make good decisions. That's the expectation for star quarterbacks and it should be.
  2. You absolutely can if you are well run, like the past few SB Champs. Players aren't gonna be turning down deals bc they're worried about acquiring other talent, not when it's the organizations job to do that anyway. Wilson got paid and they haven't drafted well since, plus they lost their best players who were hall of famers.
  3. That's not what's gonna happen with Deshaun. Houston might get a few firsts (which leaves the rest of your picks and free agency lol) and a player but they likely aren't getting entire draft classes
  4. His contract isn't the reason they overdraft players and depend on him to make their poor offensive line choices look better because he's an elite QB who's mobile. This sounds jealousy that a guy can make demands where he works and make a lot of money doing what he loves, that's not his fault that's capitalism dictating he can be paid millions for his services. Yikes
  5. A superstar QB is well within his right to sign a contract that's offered to him by an organization to secure his future, it's not his job to worry about roster building and, he's a player not a scout, and he has to secure his bag. He's well within his rights to make demands since other QBs are doing the same thing, and he even has a ring to boot. I'm not seeing how he can be blamed for their poor offensive line talent at all, again, that falls on the organization, and it can't be held against an athlete to be paid what they demand. Sheesh
  6. You can find good defensive talent outside the first round if you have a few stars, look at the Rams this past year
  7. That's not a given at all, the player is worth paying for and trading for, will elevate the offensive talent we have, and we already have stars to build around on defense, we need depth and a better oline which the draft and free agency upcoming can provide. Marty Hurney has done a number on us
  8. To be fair though, I don't blame anyone from having Marty Hurney PTSD. He would always follow up a good draft picks or free agent signing with an equally bad one so I don't mind ppl being nervous about making a bold move to improve the roster. But Marty is gone now so im gonna be positive about the better than expected returns we've already seen from Rhule and Brady
  9. Also, what cap limitations, we just cleared room and will be in better shape next year with bad contracts coming off the books. Wtf
  10. You're being cynical about our skill players who just had 4 1000 yd players for the first time in league history with Teddy at QB. Also, this draft lines up to fix the O line (which we can feel good about since they drafted so well last year and coached the senior bowl) while also finding three legit stars on defense who are only gonna get better. Football is supposed to be fun and our current state shows we have great upside if we're smart and sign the right free agents. The coaching is already there, a QB like Watson and a few shrewd moves in free agency will prove that. Plus, we have an owner that's signaled he's gonna spend money. He even paid for Teddy Bridgewater. I disagree, respectfully.
  11. We can believe we need an upgrade at QB, bc we understand the necessity, and understand that there need to be improvements along the roster at the same time.
  12. Um Steve McNair who I've been comparing him to the whole time Also, the Panthers are set up to have good cap room the next two years, they literally just cleared a lot of cap space the last two weeks, so your point in the other thread about not knowing what it is, where you were being petty bc you can't deal with message board disagreement, sucks too
  13. Imagine trying to be a tough guy on a football message board lol
  14. Tepper will spend money to offset the cost of draft picks. I don't want to lose the players they're asking for, I can live with losing four firsts when we can spend money to fill holes with this rich ass owner and all of our young talent look like elites who you can build around minus a QB. The offensive line can be fixed with cheap free agents and better drafting which we seem to be doing if last year is an indicator. Plus our coaching staff coached the Senior Bowl, we have the inside scoop on those guys this year. I'm fine with going all in for Watson, or drafting a guy. Also, Watson is that good, check his stats.
  15. Now you're just being petty for weird reasons
  16. Yeah this is the point i got off track, my bad My point still remains on Lance tho!
  17. Perfect spot for Lance, thanks for agreeing
  18. Yikes you know this is a message board for football right lol
  19. Also, one season of great play versus one game which a team will chalk up to it being covid season and a player pressing to impress, that's a built in rationale for how a team might convince themselves to draft him in the top five, especially since he absolutely has McNair talent. Tbf I'm probably getting two different arguments and mixing them up, it's sunday
  20. You be you is not the epic putdown you think it is
  21. Atlanta with Matt Ryans contract situation
