Italy right now. Reporting 463 total fatalities from the virus, out of 9,172 confirmed cases. 2019 flu season in Italy. 2,768,000 cases. 240 deaths.

Yes, SARS was way worse. Most people won’t die from corona virus, but we have a responsibility to protect the vulnerable. Our medical system cannot handle a modest influx of sick people all at once. That’s the real danger here. I’m going to trust my friends in the medical field and what they are telling me they are seeing over whatever YouTube channel you are watching.

No one is saying it is the Black Death, but is is serious. King County (Seattle) has 376 known cases so far with 23 deaths. Some were elderly but some were people in the 50s and 40s. The person in her 40s was a regular employee of the nursing home. She didn’t have major health issues except maybe high blood pressure or something. The point is, there are a lot of elderly people and people with health issues. If hundreds of thousands or millions of people had this already, basic math says it would be hitting the fan right now.

Ok....but by all accounts this is deadlier and has more extreme symptoms in the elderly and sick people. My friend has treated these patients. He hasn’t seen a huge uptick in patients in the ICU and he works in Seattle.

If the numbers were huge we would be seeing more deaths and over run hospitals. The numbers are most likely still low.

People are so stupid. Where is this?

I was just talking to a friend that is a nurse in Tacoma. What he’s telling me is terrifying. No hospital in that area is prepared to deal with this. His hospital (a big hospital) has 6 (yes SIX) hazmat suits for the entire building. They are handing off food trays that suspected corona virus patients are eating off from to the dietary staff with no labeling of where the tray came from. Warnings about this are falling on deaf ears. They are setting up adhoc decom rooms but they are failing all tests.
