  1. Oline was worst in the nfl I agree last season, but with 2 solid guards and a very good rt, we aren't going to be a bottom 10 oline.  As for defense, I'm not worried, we actually improved against the run and because burns was dog poo last year, were about the same in pass rush.

  2. It will be interesting to see how everything falls.  I can see a situation where theres a specific receiver that they love fall to the end of the first and trading up to like 30/31 to get and have a 5th year option for.  ALSO I could see a situation where a qb like Bo Nix drops out of the first and a QB hungry team make a push during the layoff between day 1 and day 2 and sends a juicy package for us to fall back so they can get him.  Lots of possibilities, we shall see.

He's just not a fit with Bryce. His strength is going deep. Bryce's biggest weakness is the deep ball.

I dont know that its as much of a weakness as people believe.  He never really got a chance to go deep because the O-line was so beyond trash.  If we're signing him for a cheap contract to compete in camp, I dont see a reason not to bring him in, even if you have chad pennington, you need someone to vertically stretch the defense atleast as even a threat, and that person isnt currently on the roster.

  4. It may not be what some want to hear, but I wouldn't be surprised really at all if we made a move at the very tail end of the first BECAUSE and only because of the 5th year option.  If there's a WR, Tackle, or Pass Rusher we absolutely love at the end of the first, I could see us expending a small amount of draft capital to move up and get him so that we have that player locked down for 5 years instead of 4.

Shaq has never gotten his flowers, the day he hangs his cleats up we’re gonna miss his leadership and team first mentality greatly.

He's been a clubhouse leader and that goes unnoticed a lot.  If I remember correctly derrick brown went after Michael Thomas last year because he was talking poo about shaqs injury. The defensive guys definitely respect him.

carolina doesnt draft well, they need more shots to try and hit on something

In fairness, Fitterer and Hurney dont draft well, gonna see what morgan does and hope its better than what weve had.  I think itll be fine as long as tepper keeps his dick fingers out of the situation.

Almost every starting LT had a rough second season. It's the learning curve, not just of the player but of the opposing players who now have enough tape and sometimes head-to-head experience to know the player's tendencies and weaknesses.

That sophomore slump is where the learning curve is at its steepest and the odds are in favor of the defense. Let's see how he comes back in the third season as a starter. Sometimes they don't make it and head to the bench and the second string. And most times, for the great ones, this is where they start feeling their place in the game and take ownership not just of their gameplay but of that patch of field they are standing on.

I have faith that Icky will live up to his potential. Just give him someone steady beside him and have someone who can make the right play and protection calls.

I think a big part of that is offseason conditioning.  prior to the rookie season they HAVE to stay in game shape because of the combine, the draft, then immediately into rookie OTAs, then into regular OTAs, then training camp.  There's not any downtime to lose your conditioning.  Between Rookie to Sophomore season though they view it as their first chance to relax in 2 years.  The ones who make it are the ones who understand that part of the job includes the months between one season and the next.

Answer: Better than Luvu, according to some

I dunno if thats the case, but in his season under Evero in Denver he had 128 tackles, 2 1/2 sacks, and 2 INTs.  Luvu last season had 125 tackles, 5.5 sacks and no INTs.  From what I gather with those stats, its about a wash with maybe Jewell being a bit better in coverage with the INTs, and Luvu a bit better in pressure with his sacks.  Biggest thing is since he's played for Evero he knows the scheme.

Sounds like Young gets another year of built in excuses

Lolwut?  That's exactly the opposite of what OP said.  Literally he said if Young doesn't look good then we go after a new QB and pair him with a coach and GM who aren't tied to Young.  Young HAS to show improvement and a decent amount this year I might add.  That doesn't however mean wins, but it has to be the kind of improvement that makes you think you can build around him.

  10. oh poo, thats a stellar move imo.  Donte was a nice piece but couldnt stay healthy.  He was active most of last season, but that was the first since his rookie season.  If the steelers get him into a nickel position, he'll be great.  On our side, Diontae has a huge upside with potential to be a legit #1.

I'm going to be seriously sad if he turns it on for the Commies.

wouldnt be surprising.  We never used him.  He was a mismatch in everos scheme, Dan Quinn is gonna absolutely turn that guy into an allstar.

Moton is one of the few players on the team worth keeping/extending.

Tack on another 2 or so years to the deal and spread the hit out more, not hard and everyone wins.

I can't understand the logic of trying to fix the line by getting rid of the best player on it...

That's what I'm thinking.  The guys wanting to cut him are just wrong.  He's literally the best offensive player we have, not even just on the oline.  We have to find a way to keep him around

  13. It was bad, no way around it, but I will say, lets wait and see with some of the guys.  Bryce obviously will get another shot with hopefully a decent offensive staff.  Mingo showed some small flashes, even smitty pointed those out.  I think its unfair to consider DJ Johnson an F when he was literally never supposed to legitimately play a part on our team in year one, he was always supposed to be backup and learn from the bench.  Zavala and Jammie, well we'll see, but early returns not good.  Just remember Josh Norman was absolute trash early, he actually was in the doghouse after busted coverage in 2013 again the bills.  Things can change and players can develop, especially raw players.  We'll know more after next season.

Whats the attraction of 2 short QBs?

Game plan/playbook, same reason that you want a mobile qb backing up Lamar jackson, the style of play and game plan remains similar without reinventing the wheel.

Wilks showed he will revert back to 90s defense despite going up against a Mahomes/Reid led team…you absolutely can not do that

In fairness, his defense held mahomes and Reid in check to the tune of 19 points in regulation with 7 coming off a turnover in their own red zone.  If you said the 9ers would hold kc to 19 points in regulation, I promise every single fan and coach would have predicted that they win.

    Purdy had a great game.

If you are using Mahomes as a comparison, then every other QB in the NFL is a game manager.

Thats basically what cam said.  Game changers are like 4-5 players, he listed Mahomes, Jackson, Burrow, Allen and Rodgers.  The rest are varying degrees of game managers, knowing how to get the ball in the hands of the playmakers.
