  1. Seems some here have been working in sheltered low expectation environments.  Comparing an IT department to a professional sports team and how they operate is apples and oranges.

First people complained at the notion that Rhule doesn't fire assistants now they are complaining that he's demanding. The common thread is that these people are going to complain regardless. It literally doesn't matter what the topic is.

  2. Sports just suck when it gets to the point where fans can't enjoy unless their teams win a championship. This seems to be a new phenomenon. Everyone wants to win. The entertainment aspect comes from the pursuit and nice days sitting in the stands with fellow fans.

You can get away with riding your team hard as long as they know at the end of the day you give a poo about them and have their best interests at heart. If they don't believe that, then you'll have a revolving door of people jumping ship as soon as they can.

    captain obvious !

Oh, you guys are missing the boat. Jimmy has $0 guaranteed. Bring him into camp and see what happens but still draft a QB of the future.

Worst case, he sucks and you cut him. Then it’s we traded Teddy and his $10M guarantee for a 2nd. Are you shitting me? I’d give a 4th or 5th just to have a team take Teddy off our hands if it means we save $18M in cap space.

Heck, I’d do this trade today and cut Jimmy tomorrow. Save $18M and get a 2nd, heck ya.

You have no idea how to read a contract.

Bridgewaters' signing bonus cap hit doesn't disappear when he's traded we still get his bonus proration hit on our cap but all at once.

Then in the same vein, Jimmy G's signing bonus doesn't hit our cap regardless so saying he has no guaranteed money is irrelevant if we trade for him. That's true of any player acquired by trade.

If he plays for us his 800,000 per game roster bonus and 600,000 workout does hit our cap.

Given they have similar salaries we would be hit with Teddy's prorated bonus just to switch to a similarly salaried turd.

For the 49ers they would be getting picks and a QB thats able to play 15/16 games and backup if needed.

Panthers would be able to get off paying Teddy 10 mill, no matter what. Thats his guarantees, along with another 8 million in base.

They must not like the other options out there, I want them to stay put at 8 and hope theres a QB they like still available. Plus being in 5 deals, puts more control in your hands.

I didn't read past the first post saying it was player for player. Is there something saying picks would be involved?  Ythey have comparable contracts the remainder. I don't see significant play or contract advantages for either team

I'm not contesting that Love was inactive. I'm saying it was Covid protocol. The fact that Boyle was a game day backup doesn't mean that the Packers saw him as second on the depth chart which is what you assert. It certainly doesn't mean that after one non preseason he has been 'beaten out.'

What you are saying is obvious bullshit. They didn't reduce the reps of their first round selection for covid protocol. That doesn't make a lack of sense on any level.

If you aren't active you aren't second on the depth chart. Second on the chart means one simple thing. That you go in when the 1 doesn't play.

Wilson to me is someone where if he falls to us then take him. But don’t trade up for him.

The one beef I would have with the Turbisky comp is that Wilson looks significantly more accurate than Turbisky ever was. Turbisky ran a bunch of dink and dunk easy stuff in Fedora’s offense with the occasional lob downfield set up off all the action. His best completion % was 68%.

Wilson runs a downfield offense with a bunch of intermediate and downfield routes. His percentage was an insane 74%. He basically threw for the same amount of yards as MT with 100 fewer attempts. That’s an INSANE STAT.

Exactly. From college to the NFL Trubisky has been short gamer. He's one of the few who has consistently been statistically less aggressive than even Teddy the whole way. Yet people who hate Teddy for that yet say they would take Trubisky (Tar Heel fans) don't want to accept that fact.

Well, that happens a lot in college. Look at Mac Jones. All these guys have tape of them making easy throws.

I am 100% not trying to down play Lance. I just think things are completely out of whack because people are QB crazy right now. Wentz is a good example of how he could go high in contrast to my previous statements. He wasn't all that impressive at NDSU but at least he was able to be vetted in person.

I wouldn't completely hate Lance at 8 but would be much happier if he was to be available at a much more realistic pick that we trade down to.

Darnold is hot garbage, who the hell would trade a first for him lmfao. I get that he’s young buts he’s literally been the worst QB in the NFL to date.  Most likely they would get a 3rd or 4th similar to the Tannehill trade if a team thinks they can turn him around.

The "worst QB in the NFL to date" would get a 3rd or 4th?  Which is it?

I think you will be wrong about that. If you don't think he will be in the top 15 picks, you haven't been paying much attention to the NFL in the past 5 years and certainly not in the past 5 months.

I should and meant to say have said "shouldn't". I see top as top 10. Jordan Love was much more experienced and was considered a reach at the bottom of the first last year. Haskins was considered a reach at 15 the year before. Jackson was considered an end of round 1 at best in 2018.  Mahomes was a 3 year starter and was selected at 10 in 2017. In 2016 Prescott with 4 years in the SEC and 3 years starting and comparable stats went in the 4th. That's 5 years of observations and comparisons that suggest Lance in the top 10 is an enormous gamble based on recent history. Those guys experience dwarfs his.

Why do people always throw shade at Cam having accuracy issues? And I don't mean this to say he doesn't miss on occasion but he was a 65.4% completion percentage guy in college. Outside of the two games in 2019, in 2018(14 games played) and 2020(15 games played) he was above a 65% completion percentage in the NFL.

ALL of these top 4 QB's have tape missing reads or missing throws. That is why there aren't 100% completion percentage throwers in the NFL.

That said, Lance is obviously the most raw of all these players. He isn't going to likely come in and start day one. It will take him some time to adjust. But he isn't going to be a useless knucklehead like Haskins or Manziel either. I don't have concerns about him being a bust because I believe he will do the work it takes to get better.

I think when you already know it will take a time, and he didn't pass much, or play good competition it's a good indicator that he's not going to get drafted at the top of the first round. It's complete wishful thinking.

  12. You could also argue that lack of in person contact with prospects will make teams a bit more conservative. Scouting will be limited to game tape. Some have much less. I can see where a guy like Lance falls a lot. Not a predination but a thought.

Eh Cam won a championship on every team he played for before entering the league and even took the Panthers to the Super Bowl with a personal MVP. Deshaun is still trying to get there.

Watson is the much better QB. And he has a contract.

Newton doesn't get extra credit for getting in trouble and transferring to community college.

I don't know if our front office is willing to risk going to 5.  After the Stafford trade attempt they seem to be hyper aggressive to get what they want.

At 5 you aren't guaranteed any of the top-4 qi, let alone one of top 3 QBs.

Miami could trade back. Atlanta could take a QB or they could trade back.  The Falcons would probably love to prevent us from getting a QB.

Also I'm not sure if we will like QB4 as much as QB3.  When it is all said and done most teams will probably convince themselves that one is a lot better than the other.

Only way I see us staying put or just going to 5 is if are convinced that we are the exception and like a certain QB, such as Lance, more that Fields but the rest of the league is higher on Fields.  Maybe we roll the dice and wait, a bit like the Seahawks did with Russel Wilson, just in the top 10 not the first 3 rounds.

Its all speculation at this point, but after the Stafford trade attempt we definitely don't seem like the passive types.

Most trades happen just before they pick. How is that risky? When the player is there the trade is arranged.
