  1. Seems like many people believe the Panthers are just one or two picks away from the Superb Owl, so they are looking at positions of need instead of best player. I don't think the Superb Owl is in the mix next year, but could be in two or three years. Who are we going to draft TODAY who we expect to be part of the team that brings home the hardware?

So yeah, taking a LT today is simply a placeholder until we find a long-term answer, but I'm looking for that cornerstone.

  2. I like the pick, but not the place in the draft where he was picked, so B+.

I'm sure, had we traded down, Dallas would have taken him at 10, so they did what they had to do, but I would have loved to have seen a trade-down and more picks Day2/Day3.

  3. The sucky part is, IF this happens with SF (and I don't see how, logistically/cap-wise), that'd put GB at the #3 spot in the draft. GB has already invested a 1st on Jordan Love, so I doubt they go QB at #3, which means position player.

This *could* be bad news for the Panthers and their hope for Sewell/Slater/Horn

Side note: Rumor has it, Rodgers is complaining about the lack of WR help. It'd be funny if the Packers used the #3 pick on Chase...considering Rodgers is then gone.

I mean, this could have been the plan all along. Secure a top-3 pick (Pitts/Sewell), send them Jimmy G and some other picks and get a HOF QB that still has some tread on the tires.

Esp if GB truly believes in Love as the QB of the future.

Fine (and I agree it's poo), but exactly what other picks would the 49ers offer? They traded their next three 1st round picks to get where they are now.

Feels like someone's been watching too much Draft Day.

Drafting Horn would sting, especially at #8. He's basically a Bradberry clone. Could've just re-signed him. Re-signing Shaq over Bradberry will probably always chap my ass.

At the time, I was not in favor or signing either one, thinking they were overpriced (apologies to James).

I figured the Panthers had a plan to replace one or both. Little did I know they did not.

I'm okay letting the high-priced players go, when there's a plan for filling the spot.

  6. If I'm Joe Brady, I have a shopping list:

    1. OT in the 1st round, preferably Sewell, but Slater will suffice.

    2. WR no later than the 3rd round. The WR needs to be able to replace Samuel's production and, hopefully, running ability.

    3. RB in the 4th. The RB allows more flexibility with CMC and allows many more options. Also provides insurance for an injured CMC, if it happens.
