He didn’t need to meddle this year.
Years of bad decisions have added up to what we witnessed yesterday.
This ^ this is the chickens coming home to roost after years of bad decisions and roster mismanagement. We have no choice but be patient because this won’t be fixed overnight.

Lady Cowboy Fan just said "your little guy there isn't doing so well"
No argument with that. Meanwhile, Dak about to hit the field after signing that $240M contract. Let the good times roll!

I expected us to lose, although not this bad. But the goal with this season is the same it was yesterday. See if we have a qb in Bryce (and it seems we have an answer to that question). And if not, get another qb next year.
We shouldn't judge Canales unless we look this bad every game.
Pretty much expected to take our lumps this season. Didn’t expect to get drilled 1st game but this roster has been below average for so long it really shouldn’t be a surprise we’re this bad.

Blocked punt! The comedy of errors continues….

The Saints are out here acting like they won the Superbowl I hope they lose all of their games
The Saints are kicking our arses. Simple and plain. Can’t be mad at them for rubbing it in our faces. We’re just not good. Gonna be a long season.
And our D has been pretty damn disappointing!

Why the hell can’t NO ONE hold onto the ball???? Damn!!!!
-
Ground can’t cause a fumble. He lost the ball after he hit the ground. That said, refs will probably over this in favor of the Saints.

Welcome back Mr. Scot…hope you’re doing well and ready for the season!

Whoa there’s a surprise! All he did was make plays this preseason.

Would love to pick him up for the PS at least. Good bloodlines and insurance in case Hubbard walks next season.

seems like just last year we paid a RB top 10 guaranteed money (at the time)....and that nobody instantly became a backup lol
watch the Panthers end up doing what they always do....continue to botch this backfield by extending Hubbard too lol
Having a rookie basically red-shirted RB allows us to extend Hubbard with a contract commensurate of a backup RB, which is where he’s most effective IMO. He and Brooks would make a dynamic duo in our offense. Of course that depends if Hubbard wants to stay or go for a starting role elsewhere after this season.

Wouldn’t mind grabbing Ika for the PS. Size and potential would provide depth @ DT with coaching.

No surprise here. Talented but underachieving DB. Which means we’ll probably sign him.

I'm excited for his arrival. The ACL doesn't concern me that much. And I do agree we probably shouldn't have taken him in the 2nd. But what's done is done, and at the end of the day he's a very talented runner.
If we hadn’t taken him then Dallas definitely would’ve. We got a decent stable of backs to rely on until he’s fully recovered and ready. Brooks has the potential to be a star in the mold of Jamaal Charles (another Longhorn and HOF RB) if we do this right.

IF we didn't make a bunch of bad roster decisions in this past offseason/draft it's conceivable it could take as little as 3-4 years to rebuild a top 12 caliber NFL roster.
I think a lot of us are not appreciating how unholy bad this roster is, especially when you get past the starters. Additionally, look at the roster and who would even still be here in 3-4 years. It's more holes than core members.
This is why any hope of building a lasting and GOOD roster are future hopes. It will take years of good drafting and solid FA moves to build something like that.
You all watched the horrifying drafts, epic free agency blunders and terrible trades/wasted resources from trades over the past few years. This is the cost. We aren't magically going to conjure up a good roster from that kind of poo.
But we have to know it's actually STARTED first and that remains to be seen. Otherwise we are still floundering around waiting for an actual rebuild to start.
I see us on a similar trajectory as the Detroit Lions. We’ll take our lumps this upcoming season, with steady improvement mid to late season. This season is about building for 2025 and beyond.

Resigned (quit) or re-signed (did an extension)???
LOL…good catch! Re-signed an extension obviously.

The 2024 season will be one long preseason but it needs to happen. Our FO has been screwing us on talent for too long and chickens have come home to roost. Rome wasn’t built in a day. We have to be patient while the Panthers build this team the right way (I hope).

Bad News: we’re probably gonna suck this year especially on offense.
Good News: our top 5 draft pick next year will be our own.

Our OL (lack of) depth is downright atrocious

Nash was fighting for a roster spot he NEEDED to play last Thursday he doesn’t have then luxury of missing a preseason game
This is a Patriot type move take emotion out of it and bring in guys who will help you win now I love the move
If he clears waivers he gets place on IR so he may still have a chance to stay with the Panthers, if I understand it correctly.

Sucks for us. Losing out on Judon hurts with our lack of pass rushing depth.

The Panthers claimed Mason Brooks off waivers from Washington on Thursday, and waived-injured Nash Jensen.
Damn. Hate that for him right after welcoming a newborn into the world. Thought he had a shot here but hope he lands on his feet elsewhere.

I agree about Jewell. Would like to see us break in Trevin Wallace alongside Shaq at ILB to help out run defense.
