Haven't seen anyone wishing injury on Cousins, and of course we hope Penix sucks, he's a Falcons QB.

I hope he sucks terribly and Cousins doesnt return to form. Or Cousins plays just good enough to keep him on the bench for the majority of his rookie deal.

"But, but, but, we can't judge the Falcons QB situation because ours is so bad!!!"

We absolutely can, and wouldn't the Bryce move make us qualified to judge a poor QB decision? Lol.

We can judge the Falcons QB situation, its better than ours is. End of story.

It's almost as if, get this crazy thought, that other teams in the league can also make bad/questionable decisions from time to time. But for some reason, we can't discuss those without every thread turning into the same "Dude did you know that Bryce young is short" pile on from the usual suspects.

Well we already had one of these threads about this bullshit a while back. Sorry that Bryce sucks and pointing out that fact hurts your feelings.

I wouldnt give a flying fug if he was short but could actually play the position.

If Bryce was a top 10 QB no one would care what we gave up to get him. See? Two can play that game.

So I guess the Falcons get props for the concept of investing in the QB, regardless of how nonsensical the specifics are.

Bryce isnt a top 10 QB and looks to never be one, so your argument is irrelevant.

If Penix sucks they look dumb, if he is great they don't look dumb.

They dont get props, but I dont get all the hate especially from our team. It seems more like hoping that Penix will suck and Cousins gets hurt again to me.

It'd be like if we drafted Levis at 9 in 2023 after giving Derek Carr $100 million. Would you honestly be ok with that?

It's almost worse than trading DJ Moore, swapping picks, and giving up a 1st + 2nd round pick for Bryce Young.

If Penix becomes a top 10 type of QB no one will care where he was drafted or that Cousins was already on the team

They invested twice in the most important position. I have seen a ton of you clamoring for some competition for mighty midget.

I hate the falcons, but stop judging their QBs when we have the worst starter in the league until proven otherwise.

we might have to wait a minute.

i really don't think that we have seen enough in a competently managed offense to know what BY is capable of. i want to see what they can dial up with an upgraded OL, WR room, pass catching TE, and a coaching staff that is too preoccupied with hunger game crap to figure out what to do on offense.

"highlights" from last year don't inspire me, but i'm hoping that within the first few games we'll see something working better. exactly what, i don't know. fortunately it's not my job to figure that poo out. my job is to sit back, watch...and then celebrate or bitch depending on what happens.

i am excited to see what canales puts together, though.

Canales is talking about a run heavy offense. Last year there were times when teams put 10 guys in the box and dared BY to throw the ball.

Heavy run does not work without the threat of deep passing which Bryce struggles with.

I don't see anyway that this is going to work out.

    Heavy run game/PA wco? Lol

Please list a few, NFL level strengths.  On field playing QB stuff not oh he is really smart or really has a great attitude, not that stuff. And nothing about what he did in college against college athletes. What does he do well in the NFL?

    So I know.

The only thing they have left is he was durable.

Let's forget that he displayed a weak arm, terrible mechanics, and held the ball way too long because he was scared to throw/Couldn't see the field.

We have been telling you guys this for months but everyone still wants to claim leagues worst OL doomed Bryce.

He's not an NFL talent due to physical limitations and there is no way to overcome that, it's over.

    • Davis talks about a catch Sanders made without looking, got blasted, and then got back up like he hadn't even been hit.

Unless you are a QB or something this is what you are supposed to do. You dont show weakness after taking a big hit, you pop back up like nothing happened. You can guarantee he was feeling it on the inside though.

i think that in the last year or two of fox, we had started becoming complacent and just accepted losing as not a big deal. we were ok with it.

with cam (NOT because of Rivera) we started getting some of that grit back, but then after the superbowl run in '15 gettleman killed the team by gutting it. since then we never recovered. guys that could have helped us, he let go.

rivera was a nice guy. he wasn't a tough leader that brought out the best in people. the league let cam get beat up because they didn't like him rivera and our front office had no spine to stand up for him.

then rhule came and whatever fight/keep pounding spirit we had in us, he ran out of town.

you combine all that with what you were talking about, NFL becoming a finesse passing league, made the league soft. i think with the way it appears we are getting rebuilt, we will be bringing back some smashmouth. will we focus on pounding the rock a lot of the game? i sure hope so because teams aren't really built to stop that kind of thing anymore. and the more you are built like that, the further you will go in the playoffs.

See the Titans and Derrick Henry.

That style of play is not winning any super bowls in todays NFL.

They never made it further than the conference game. That was with a QB, RB, and WR all better than anything our current group has ever put on the field.

Hiding Bryce with that style of play is really a damn shame. Just play out this year and try again at QB if we have to play like that for him to have any kind of success.

Damn...I didn't know we had to win playoff games to be good...I was thinking that if we built a team that won 9-10 games we were going somewhere...

Im not interested in years of one and outs in the playoffs. Thats no better than years of 5 wins.

We can make the playoffs but then we dont have a snowballs chance in hell of advancing.

We may as well be the Dak Cowboys or Cousins Vikings.

To compete in the NFL you need talent loaded at skill positions, hell look at Dolphins man! To compete you need game breakers and this guy has that written on him

What have the dolphins won other than some regular season games?

They arent winning poo going against PM, Josh Allen, Burrow, etc.

    Tua aint it.

To compete you need an Elite QB.

It’s crazy how out of control the RB narrative has gotten. Yes RB is not as important as the past and yes a 2nd round RB most likely is much better than a 5th round RB. Both can be and are true.

A 4th round RB gets you…. Chubba Hubbard. Come on now, he’s a good dude and good second RB but he isn’t moving the needle for any team.

Thats the whole point there really isnt any RB on the planet earth that is really moving the needle for any team.

We had the best RB in football for a couple seasons and still only managed 5 wins.

You either have a QB or you have nothing.

i think we're a 6-8 win team this year. and that's me being really optimistic. i'd be really happy to see that.

I think the only way we win 6-8 games is if we run the ball a ton and have a strong D. Pretty much hiding Bryce which is the last thing that needs to happen. He needs to either run an NFL offense or gtfo.

Cam Newton was the greatest shortage yardage weapon in NFL history.  Cam was a unicorn as a runner.  Ron embraced it which IMO was the right call and most coaches would have never done it.  Embracing what made him special.  On and off the field.  Ron did both.

I still think Ron gets too much hate on Cam.  The real injustice was the roster around Cam, not how Cam was used.

Ron has been garbage as a HC and only had a winning record when he had both Cam and Luke.

The dude is not HC material in todays NFL, maybe in the 80s he would have been a great HC.

The hate is well deserved for a guy that NFL talking heads act like is an elite coach, he is far from it,
