There is no tongue biting on The Google.  If you sit him 3-4 games the narrative is why trade up to the number 1 pick if he is not ready and you dont want to play him.  Pitchforks would be out for Reich and Fitt. Then when he gets in week 4 and makes a rookie mistake we would be having this same conversation.

Same level of misery, just in a different bucket.

I personally prefer to watch his progression week to week rather than manufacturing a crisis on every miscue.

that is true, but we saw the same mistakes in the preseason we saw on Sunday. I just think a first year QB needs some watching before being thrown to the wolves is all. We didn't start Collins till later but that was then and today is today. Maybe he didn't study as hard during the preseason. We have another one on Sunday. We will see what he saw on film is translated to improvement.

Alright armchair scouts, let's hear who's got y'all excited!

Speaking for myself, I watch the college season with the intention of having a good time but then always go back at the end in order to do the "deep dive" scouting. That means for my list, I'm not exactly listing the prospects that I think are the best. I'm watching who I think is going to be fun to focus on during the games. 😄

    QB: Joe Milton III (Tennessee)
    RB: Braelon Allen (Wisconsin)
WR: Marvin Harrison Jr (Ohio State)
    TE: Brock Bowers (Georgia)
    OT: Patrick Paul (Houston)
    iOL: Donovan Jackson (Ohio State)
    DL: Leonard Taylor III (Miami)
    EDGE: Jared Verse (Florida State)
    LB: Smael Mondon Jr (Georgia)
    CB: Nate Wiggens (Clemson)
    S: Rod Moore (Michigan)

Any of those top 10 CB's to replace Horn. I am not saying get rid of him. He might be a good 2nd or backup but as a first we know he can't stay off the injury list for a full year. Then there is Jackson.

they wont eat crow but the many huddlers who said he was a bust two years ago... you did a good job demonstrating you dont understand professional football. Hats off to you.

So are they going to pay both Burns and Brown top dollar. Brown had a decent 1st half, but that 2nd half really sucked. Can blame the offense for not converting on 3rd downs and keeping them rested or blame the secondary for allowing those 3rd down conversions. Don't think they will pay both. So which one do you let go.

Don’t feel too bad for them..with the panthers pick and their own, they will have plenty QBs to choose from next year

Next group will be better, but the mind set was get the QB now. They truly thought we were going to win with Bryce. We might but not this year.

if it looks this bad mid seasons, then I'll consider panicking. If it looks this bad by season's end, I will actually panic.

We could have sat him the first 3 to 4 games to let him watch. So we the fans will have to bite our tongues as he learns the NFL game. Next year if we see this type play. Then we can scream "TOLD YOU SO!"

Bryce looked fine, he just needs to build chemistry with the recievers.....hard to do that from the bench. Plus Sanders not playing is hindering him as well. This team week 8 will look totally different than week 1.

I don't disagree but between the 1 and 2 picks in last years draft they aren't putting up starting numbers. To me it is the owner who pressuring Bryce to start before he is ready to take command of the team. two to 4 games isn't going to hurt that much. We saw what happen with Allen when he wasn't given time to throw with the OLine troubles we had then. I want Bryce to succeed here, but getting himself killed is not something anyone wants, and teams come the opener are not as easy as they are in preseason.

What did he do that made you think he's not ready? Throw downfield to covered WRs for INTs? You a big Sam Darnold guy?

only scoring 3 points in two games is not an indication he is ready to lead a team either. If that was the case Corral has more touch downs than Bryce, but Corral isn't playing the same players Bryce has. Shoot even Luton has more touchdowns. I guess voicing a different opinion is not acceptable in this room.

Look at this play at :13

The ability to read the field, feel the pressure, slide to his left, still keep his eyes down the field, and side arm a pass in between 2 defenders.  It was a close miss because #15 hesitated a bit but plays like that translate, especially as the receivers become more comfortable with Young's style.

Also I know he slipped but my goodness that evade at :49.

If you aren't impressed by Young then I don't know what to tell you.  His game translates to the NFL.  There are few exceptions but you want your QB to be a playmaker and that is what he is.

I don't know what to expect out of him as a rookie.  Not sure his numbers will look great.  But if he continues to show traits like this, then there is no doubt in my mind we are looking at our franchise QB.

I didn't say that. I said he needs to sit and watch. No where did I say he wasn't the future QN of this franchise. I just think watching the game will do him better. If you don't mind watching blow outs that is fine with me. I would just like to see some competitive games. He hasn't shown he is ready to compete yet. You named two plays he made that shows his skills. I am glad he can slide as Brady did. I wished Can had learned that little sidestep to avoid a hit and still be able to keep the eyes focused down field.

You should expect to win this division

After you were 1 game from doing so last year even with Rhule handicapping the team the first couple games of the season.

You brought in this highly touted “all star” staff..

You went up and got the top QB in the draft.  And not only the top QB, but the most NFL ready one according to everyone.

To not expect to win this division and make the playoffs.

    Taking a step backwards

    Is just a losers mentality

Expecting to make the playoffs was gravy for this year as bad as the NFC South is going to be. By years end we might be a decent team, and 'might' is a big word. Chicago will get their 1st round top 10 pick and who will we trade to get a mid or low end 1st round pick.

he probably just looked at the box score

I watched the game and the box scores speak for themself. 56 passing yards in 5 offensive series and you think this is starting QB stats. Now that is funny. I didn't say get rid of Bryce. I said sit him and let him watch from the sidelines and let Dalton lead the team against the Falcons, or are we not going to have a vet backup and let Corral and Luton be 2nd and 3rd behind Bryce.

  11. Young was 4-for-6 for 21 yards against the Jets. He led Carolina to only one first down in three series, didn't get the offense past midfield and was 0-for-2 on third down.

Young finished 3-of-6 for 35 yards on two series at MetLife Stadium, making him 7-of-12 for 56 yards in two preseason games.

I will give him credit for having a 70.5% QBR and a total of 3 points. I Said to let him sit till he was ready to take over and let Dalton start the opener against the Falcons. I know he is going against the 1st and 2nd team players. I am sorry he really isn't putting up huge numbers, but the whole team has look bad in their 2 preseason games. I am not blaming Young for the team's troubles. Just saying he is not ready to start and give him some time to eye the game for the first quarter of the season. Are you thinking this team is going to the playoffs.

You aren’t alone. I’ll wait for the regular season before I start making judgements.

Not freaking but Bryce is not ready to start. Maybe next year. Let Dalton be given the reigns and next year let Bryce content for the number one slot. Shoot Reich started for us over Collins and in game 4 Collins came in and led the Panthers the rest of the season. Give him 3 games behind Dalton and not force him into games just because he was the #1 pick.

no game day thread, people already giving up on the team.

if that ain't a measuring stick for where this fan base is with this product idk what is...

if it's not 21-0 by half, we might be discussing selling the team this weekend.

GOAT you were close. I am starting to think we should start Dalton against the Falcons and let Bryce sit for the game. It might give us a chance to be in the game by Half Time.

Preseason One is waaaayyy too early to be jumping to those kind of conclusions.

Just something I read on the net if we had traded Burns to the Rams last year. I am not worried about Young as QB. The defense yes but Young no. More than likely team just getting use to the 34 defense but it seems we are weak with the run. Since we didn't have Burns today the pass rush was not there if he had been.

  15. 2 minutes ago, NAS said:

I didn’t see him waiting too long on any of his snaps, did you?

I thought he did a few times when he got sacked or rushed. The OLine did not pick up the slack to make success.

Alabama line wasn't anything special for Bryce. Most of his signatures plays and his signature trait is making chicken salad out of chicken poo

He will have to learn he can't wait as long as he did in college, but that takes time in the NFL. Howell is ;learning that now in Washington.

  17. 3 minutes ago, NAS said:

Thanks for the correction. I do think we need to spend some of our cap space in the offseason on a guard or tackle (even if it’s for depth)

I would hate loosing Burns but it might be time to trade him, for a 1st next year. We can always find a pass rusher to fill his shoes in the draft or FA. Lets hope he has a good season so we can have some options for next year.

Looked calm and you see the dog in him when he’s still tracking the play after being hit from the ground.

Bryce is really PC, the football field looks like one of the places he lets go and embraces his aggression. He looked pissed after the 2nd or 3rd drive and stayed tuned in along Josh McCown throughout the game. I don’t watch college football so forgive me if those of you that have seen him more would say otherwise.

Being a Alabama product he had all the time in the world to throw in college. Time to wait for his receivers to get open. It is going to take time for the game to slow down for him. maybe next year he will be what we thought he can be. It was the defense that worries me. Very inconsistent with the running game and passing.

Lack of future first rounder*. We’re only lacking one.

How many did we lose for this trade up. I thought it was only next years first and a 2nd the following year.

Bryce Young passed the eye test. He looked like a vet with his pocket presence and making quick decisions despite  playing behind a terrible OL.

I know it’s only preseason but when you know you know.  Just like we know now that Corral doesn’t have it to even be a backup.

Was there  a reason we were playing so vanilla today. Both on Defense and Offense. Or were the jets just a better team today.
